Jay McKinnon, a self-described Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist, has implicated himself in the production of fraudulent Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.
The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider's revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the detective work of independent investigative journalists and imaging professionals in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate the Daily Kos, an extreme left blog site, and the Obama campaign, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance.
The perceived unreliability of the image has provoked petitions and widespread demands for Obama to submit for objective inspection the paper versions of the "birth certificate" he claimed in his book Dreams from My Father was in his possession, as well as the paper version of the Certificate of Live Birth for which the image on the Daily Kos and the Obama "Fight the Smears" website was supposedly generated.
Without a valid birth certificate, Obama cannot prove he fulfills the "natural born citizen" requirement of the Constitution, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for President.
McKinnon, who says he is 25-30 years old, operates a website called OpenDNA.com and uses the OpenDNA screen name on various web sites and blogs, including his comments and diary on The Daily Kos. In recent years he has divided his time between Long Beach, California and Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing Daily Kos blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

This article is very cleverly deceiving. Note that in the first paragraph the author did not say that McKinnon forged an Obama birth certificate and then daily kos post it this forgery. He said that McKinnon was able to forge birth certificate that are similar to the one posted on daily kos and that is a huge difference here. The author used those clever deceptive wording knowing that the people who are already bought on Obama Birth certificate conspiracy theory are not going to read this thing in any detail and assume that McKinnon forged Obama birth certificate.
By the way this guy McKinnon is now saying that he hired a lawyer to go after some internet blogs who are defaming him and accusing him of forging Obama birth certificate and that daily kos posted his forgery.

btw, the question you continue to ask, requires revealing the indentity of the FReepers who supplied the images of the documents. Considering your own reluctance to make your document available on this forum, it's very hypocritical of you.

This crazy stuff about his birth certificate will color conservatives and republicans as lunatics if they ever make it a public and known issue. I am very confident that the Republican party and the McCain campaign are smart enough to absolutely distance themselves from this lunacy of Obama birth certificate and other stupid issues because it is a sure way to an utter defeat this November. This crazy stuff is going nowhere on the national level but for sure it is badly damaging Free Republic reputation.

That part is easy, that's not a birth certificate, it's a dump of the birth records database, ostensibly produced on June 8, 2007, or delivered to the requester on that date. But if that's what it is, it should have an embossed seal certifying to it's authenticity. It's a lot harder to fake that, than to make a color photocopy of an altered document, but such an embossed stamp will show up on a photocopy or a scan (same thing really these days, it's just that the photocopy gets printed instead of stored.)

I am capable of reading what it says on their web site, and I do have recent copies of my passport and birth certificate.
I have recently been through the procedures needed to acquire both documents. Even now, in a post 9/11, ID theft ridden environment it isn’t all that difficult.
In laid back 1961 Hawai’i, it must have been much easier.
