Blogger admits Hawaii birth certificate forgery, subverting Obama claims (Uh-oh)

Jay McKinnon, a self-described Department of Homeland Security-trained document specialist, has implicated himself in the production of fraudulent Hawaii birth certificate images similar to the one endorsed as genuine by the Barack Obama campaign, and appearing on the same blog entry where the supposedly authentic document appears.

The evidence of forgery and manipulation of images of official documents, triggered by Israel Insider's revelation of the collection of Hawaii birth certificate images on the Photobucket site and the detective work of independent investigative journalists and imaging professionals in the three weeks since the publication of the images, implicate the Daily Kos, an extreme left blog site, and the Obama campaign, in misleading the public with official-looking but manipulated document images of doubtful provenance.

The perceived unreliability of the image has provoked petitions and widespread demands for Obama to submit for objective inspection the paper versions of the "birth certificate" he claimed in his book Dreams from My Father was in his possession, as well as the paper version of the Certificate of Live Birth for which the image on the Daily Kos and the Obama "Fight the Smears" website was supposedly generated.

Without a valid birth certificate, Obama cannot prove he fulfills the "natural born citizen" requirement of the Constitution, throwing into doubt his eligibility to run for President.

McKinnon, who says he is 25-30 years old, operates a website called OpenDNA.com and uses the OpenDNA screen name on various web sites and blogs, including his comments and diary on The Daily Kos. In recent years he has divided his time between Long Beach, California and Vancouver, British Columbia. He is a Democratic political activist, frequent contributor to the left wing Daily Kos blog, and a fervent Barack Obama supporter.

Obviously, the birth certificate on the campaign site is a forgery. If Obama really wanted to avoid this kind of inquiry, he ought to produce the record on his birth and birth location. Based on the current record, it is clearly a reasonable inference that he was born in Kenya and is not eligible under Article II, Sec. 1, Par. 4, to serve as president of the United State; almost certainly, he is not even a citizen of the United States.

The bottom line and the worst problem is not that Daily Kos posted a fake birth certificate, but that the OBAMA CAMPAIGN has it on their site as a real birth certificate.

Why isn’t Obama sign an authorization for a reliable journalist to get his birth certificate from the Hawaii government directly, that way there would be no question of its authenticity?

"Natural born" simply means he was a citizen from his birth ~ usually on account of his mother's or father's citizenship, and where the birth happened. Several posters have referred to the "law at the time he was born" noting that the law was later changed in the 1970s. It's noteworthy that when the law was changed, it served to clarify the status of all born in similar circumstances who were still living.

This happens all the time ~ the old law is repealed and is no longer in effect, and the new law takes over AND it affects everyone alive!

That is what I would think they might try...course they have an obvious Fake on the WebSite....they will have some spinning to do to cover that.

They have a low-res illustration there, not really legible, but just implying that the image is of a document that proves the textual information of the page is true (the larger image is scaled down for display by the html code). That's easily dismissed as "it's just an illustration...it's what the real one looks like, anyway..." And they never claim that is his birth certificate--they only imply it.

Unlike the Kos one, it hasn't been through multiple iterations to add a seal, etc. They can make a disingenuous but seemingly reasonable claim that they were not saying that was his birth certificate, but the focus was on the words saying he was born in Hawaii.

(BTW, Red Steel, note that I wasn't making it up when I pointed out that I could see a seal on the document that others claimed had no seal--it's right where I pointed it out. :-)
