The 19th Amendment, Was it the Beginning of the End for America?
The Way One Vike Sees it ^ | 3/2/10 | OV

From the day the founding Fathers risked their liberty and life by signing the Declaration of Independence, there has been those who have wanted to sink this great ship called the United States of America. Well 143 years later the good ship America took a torpedo hit that at the time seemed like just another glancing blow. What many still consider the greatest step forward in equality for the sexes, was more then just a glancing blow however. It was in fact a deadly strike that entered the very heart of the ship and has been smoldering since. The damage caused by the 19th amendment was not noticeable at first, but after 90 years we can now see how complete the destruction was.

Thanks to the 19th amendment, we now have the same kind of Marxists running America that Ronald Reagan defeated from the Soviet Union. However the weapon of destruction used was not a nuclear warhead, no it was an emotional outburst that melted the brains of logic. On August 18, 2010 it will have been 90 years since the 19th amendment was ratified and became the law of the land. In those 90 years, America has gone from a God fearing Christian nation to a sadistic society that would make the founding fathers turn over in their graves. In my opinion, the icing on the cake was the day we witnessed Barack Obama getting elected President. So now we are confronted with the situation that almost every important issue facing the country comes down to an argument between an emotional feeling and a logical thought.

I use the contrasting difference between logic vs emotion because in our society today we are constantly confronted with situations that pit logic against emotions. I readily admit that throughout history mankind has struggled with properly defining the line separating logic and emotion when it comes to certain aspects of life. However, we now live in a society that is almost completely ruled by emotion. Case in point would be the parents in America that are routinely brought up on child abuse charges for spanking their children. When you raise a child it is logical and normal to slap their hands or spank their behind when they do bad things or act unruly in public. It is illogical and out of control emotions that lead to laws where such parental responsibility and Biblical teachings are now considered criminal acts of child abuse. It's my opinion that the blame for such emotionally out of control laws are a direct result of women getting the right to vote.

Now, I am not advocating that women should be barefoot, pregnant, and in the kitchen. Nor do I think that the 19th amendment should be overturned. I bring this up more as a logical analysis of what I consider to be the number one cause of our current troubles in America today. Besides, even if I were to advocate the repealing of the 19th amendment, it would be easier to hold back the waters of the Nile. I also admit that there are many women who think more rational and logical then some men do, just compare Barney Frank to Ann Coulter. Consider for a moment, one of the biggest political blunders that led to our current economic malaise. You must conclude that it is simply illogical to......

It not the 19th A- It’s the feminist movement dressed up as as radical leftists from Jane Fonda to the Barbara Boxers, Feinstein, and that other bitch Barbara Mikulsi and the Maxine Waters who have ruined this great nation.

Sounds like an after action report. Lot of good it does now.

No, it was the 16th, 17th, and the infiltration of the Universities, and Hollywood(and news media) by the communists, Marxists, and progressives that have doomed our country.

The current legislature is composed by a majority of men, and always has been. Congress(mostly males) has passed the laws that are bringing us down, and a male president has signed everyone of the bills into law.

Anyone old enough to remember Hubert Humphrey? Remember seeing him cry when he lost the election? He was a male ya know.

Without the 19th amendment, president Palin would not even be possible. Seems like a lot of men on this forum are counting on her to help save the Union, just like Thatcher helped pull England up into better times.

Speaking of Thatcher, it is well known that she was the one to give GHW Bush a backbone, when she told him “don't go all wobbly” when addressing the problem of Saddam Hussein.

This idea about women causing the problems today is a crock of rot. If you just have to blame someone or thing instead of serious analysis, blame Satan - that at least would be more accurate.

I’ve said for 15 years that we have the kind of socialism we have because women have the vote. Women generally value security while men generally value freedom. Women generally favor socialistic policies - especially if those women are single or, worse, single mothers.

And in a nation where women are incented to dump their husbands to the point that over 70% of divorces list the wife as the plaintiff, it’s pretty obvious what is happening in this nation.

Not that we should or shouldn’t give women the vote, but we are reaping what it will.

Agreed. And of course the amendment immediately before it.

Well, yes - even more so than the 17th.

Bull oney.

I agree with Benjamin Franklin...
“When the PEOPLE find they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic.”

I think only landowners (male and female) should have the right to vote — and I do mean owners of land. Owners of condo and coop units need not apply; they’re as unworthy of the vote as renters.

Actually, make that landowners who also own cars/trucks.

Wait, make that landowners who also own cars/trucks and have a minimum investment portfolio of $500,000.

Plus: Voting is mandatory for those who qualify. Miss even one local board of education election or off-year primary and you’re out.

IMO the 17th amendment was the beginning of the end.

I'll see your 17th and raise you one to the 16th as the beginning of the end.

That’s what Ancient Rome had. You had to own land to not only vote, but also owning land would mean you would serve in the legions if you are well and able. The legions were made up of mainly landowners.

Funny my own mother said it was a mistake to let women vote. I was very surprised when she said that. When I asked why, she said that women were no good at war or politics. Men have better instincts in that department. That men should build the cities, and run the world in general, and that the strongest place for the woman is in the home, and that duty was in so many ways more important anyhow. She also said that women have simply become more like men by being in the workplace competing with men.

I thought "wow"...

I just can’t understand how this topic is always dealt with a serious face. Women can have the 2nd amendment, but not the 19th? I just don’t get it. It sounds like a disparity on levels of trust.

Ultimately the 17th made the 19th possible.

They have been able to ruin it because they got their amendment and the vote.

Nor do I think that the 19th amendment should be overturned.

That's good. If the woman's vote were taken away, there would no doubt be calls for women to stick to waitressing, the secretarial pool, nursing, etc.; calls for them to stay at home; calls to forbid them from inheriting property, etc. A similarly biased situation would result in the opposite direction, were men to be stripped of the vote, I'm sure. Cynic that I am, I believe that's just the way we are.
