There is no doubt in my mind that Ron Paul's libertarian movement is attempting to take over the Republican Party through co-opting the Tea Party movement. We've seen this here in Kentucky as a good chunk of our Tea Party leaders supported Bill Johnson, but Rand Paul's big money (77% of it coming from out of state people in this "liberty movement") gave him credibility with the media and made him able to bill himself as "the Tea Party candidate" here. It was all a hoax, of course, and now Kentucky's grassroots-selected candidate has been disenfranchised.
Across America, the story seems to be the same. Many people involved in politics for the first time in many years have no idea that the Ron Paul / Rand Paul camp is actually anti-war, hates the 14th amendment and the 17th amendment and.....believe in UFOs. Like the people in the Hartford Tea Party who would not listen to Mr. Bancroft, they are being duped with the "broadened message" of Rand Paul and other candidates in this "movement". It's like Obama all over again.

I never said they were to my liking. It’s just that to pretend they’re somehow unique in willingness to collaborate is exaggeration at best.

Give me a break. I could never support Adam Kokesh but Rand Paul represents one thing we lack in many of our Republicans. And that is conviction and principle. Paul is going to win in Kentucky because he can articulate the message of liberty and we can count on him to vote against big spending, big government, and assail it at every turn. Rand is not his father and as for associations plenty GOPers associate with liberals of all stripes and even support them. Look at Mark Kirk in Illinois. He is further to the left than any of our current elected GOP Senators yet their are plenty here that would vote for him when there are good alternatives like conservative prolife libertarian Mike Labno. I personally believe we need a few more conservative libertarians who really believe in cutting government to complement our often weak willed Gopers.

Oh, and the tea party movement was not started by Libertarians. Not counting the original, the concept of a ‘tea party’ protest is common in our country. One guy actually bought ‘tea party’ website URLs back in 2004, there have been third and fourth tier ‘tea party’ political parties for decades, and it is easy to find many tea party tax protests going back for decades (the funniest I found was a strip club protesting a dance tax back in the early 90s).

How do you know Rand Paul has “conviction” and “principle?” He has never held elected office. Here is a guy who was born in Pennsylvania, moved to Texas with his family and now runs for U.S. SENATE in Kentucky? It looks to me like you folks in Kentucky gamble on more than horse races.
I am sorry to see that folks there aren’t giving him a closer examination and asking more of their candidates than a convenient use of the word “liberty.”
As a patriotic American, I emphatically say we do not need “lie-bertarians,” but proven conservative Republicans. You do not understand the RLC is a group with its own agenda, USING the Republican Party for its own ends.

Kokesh is a member of IVAW, (Iraq Veterans Against the War). He openly marched in demonstrations against his country after returning from Iraq. I did my first GOOGLE search for Kokesh + Schiff was was quite stunned to see the number of connections on web sites between the two. A person is known by the company they keep. A person is also known by who wants to tell others you are a good person or a bad person. Numerous websites that specifically mention connections between Peter Schiff and Adam Kokesh have for the most part only included the names of Ron Paul or his son Rand Paul. And no one else by comparison.
The GOOGLE search terms and link I used were this:

This the very first page of this forum is entirely based on support for Peter Schiff and Adam Kokesh and Rand Paul. ONLY those three persons. While an individual may not know what everyone says about him, he must surely know who he is compared to and why, for this website clearly endorses these three men, it has the campaign website for Peter Schiff at the top of it’s page for donations. Schiff MUST know of this site for that reason alone because he has to account for all campaign donations and his webmaster also has the clear capability to discover who is accessing his website, and in modern times, a responsibility to know who is accessing your website, and that means Schiff KNOWS he is associated with Adam Kokesh.
On July 15, 2009, Peter Schiff was one of the search terms along with Adam Kokesh for this Ron Paul appearance on Judge Napolitano’s web broadcast. If they are not known to each other or do not have common values and goals, why are they jointly advertised with each other?

Notice that in the second video, one of the search tags is INFOWARS. INFOWARS is an Alex Jones supported group, one of the leading 9/11 truthers who believe, among the many theories proposed by truthers, stories such as that the World Trade Centers were attacked by radio controlled airplanes that had the passengers removed before the collision, and also that explosive charges were placed in the building that caused the actual collapse after the collision and resultant fire.
