Call any Tech Support line, or your bank for that matter. Do you get a fellow American on the other end? Or do you get someone in India that can't help you and just gives you the run around because they don't know any better (which doesn't matter because you can't understand them anyway!). This is not only happening in the Call Center field, but in Technology, Animation and other Media and so forth. This takes away millions of jobs from Americans and at the same time, we have millions of people coming from India who are getting grants to buy or open their own businesses in which they only hire others of their own kind or treat you like a slave if your not. News has it that India is on the rise..of coarse they are!....We're helping them and suffering because of it. In the hotel industry, Indians are buying the hotels left and right, cutting down on staff and making the remaining American staff work three times as hard for minimum wage while they put other Indians who have no clue in what they're doing, in charge, giving orders and making the big bucks. The American workers have no choice but to deal with it in the communities where work has become scarce. This is why America is in such bad shape! We are not helping third world countries..we're hanging ourselves!

If you really have to ask these questions, then you need to stop posting, and lurk a while. Take your time, read the threads/posts, and learn how FR works.
It will help you avoid trouble, including be labelled a troll, getting zotted, or being told to go back to "DU" (Democtratic Underground, a vile, subversive leftist website).

I have been visiting freerepublic for the past week. Few days back, some of the folks here wanted to ban Pepsi because it was headed by an Indian hindu woman...and now this ?
The reality of globalisation is, technology makes geography redundant, any work that can be done on a computer in US, can as well be done in India. And no, contrary to popular perception, I dont think an avg. American worker is somehow innately superior to an avg. Indian worker when it comes to writing C++ programs.
Some people have difficulty in accepting the fact the people are basically the same all over. There is this subconscious racism that leads an American like the the poster of this thread to get upset over outsourcing to India, but not to Ireland or Israel.
Because of technology and globalisation, we have for the first time in history a situation where hundreds of millions of Indian and Chinese workers and so on, now find themselves a part of the same labor pool as the US worker.
This is the reality. You may hate it, but thats just the way it is. The choice therefore is either to shout yourself hoarse for eternity hurling abuse at those damn Indians, or adapting yourself to the change...because the only thing permanent, is change.
Those who take advantage of the 'change' , prosper, those who waste their time complaing and crying, get chucked out.
Why are you singling out India? Call centers and outsourcing got to other countries too.
In desperate need of a job, I worked in an inbound call center about ten years ago. It was exactly as you say.
Everybody who bitches about call center jobs going overseas should first consider whether or not these are a.) jobs worth keeping, since b.) you can't seem to pay Americans enough to do the job well -- even though wages are well above minimum wage and the job is anything but taxing.
And, if the Indians are unintelligible and incompent, they certainly offer a less expensive brand of incompetency.
Finally, there's this: if a company saw a drop in its bottom line profits because they had outsourced tech support, they would immediately return the jobs to the USA. And that doesn't seem to be happenin'...
All in all my experiences have been extremely satisfactory. I really don't care who or where the support is, my primary concern is the end result.......
Well, I sicerely apologize to all of you "seasoned" FR people. I do not know the abbreviations, or the format, or the people who are constantly logged in. I also know I don't usually have time to take part in such discussions (having to run this hotel usually takes up about 91 hours of my week....which makes my salary pretty much worthless). I just happened to take some time off due to a sinus infection and found this site. It seemed like a good place to share some issues that bother me (and others to from the response) to people who might seem to give a damn on which way the country is headed. Laws getting passed without a vote from "We the people" also get my goat, but that's another issue. Once again, I appologize, and I also want to say thanks to the people who understood it was my first time posting and actually knew what I was saying. I think a troll would apply to someone who knows better and not a first timer.

I am not a TROLL. In fact this is my first time posting. If you want people who think women are lower...try dealing with people from India like the ones I'm talking about......I for one am Wiccan and would never think that way about a woman....but you put yourself in an almost "Cock Nazi" role with that down with men, women rule stuff (sorry to be harsh like that). Not all men are bad and one can not exist without the other without interfering unaturally.
Its raining here and I have nothing else to do except maybe take a nap. So, lets discuss that other issue.......specifically what laws have been passed without a vote that are upsetting you?
