After more than 25 years of Air Force experience, I don’t want another .223 in my hands.

I think he ordered his chambered for 7.62mm. But, I can tell you that his new rifle will be sturdy and very easy to field strip and clean. I wish I had one for private use, or if they allowed me to bring one to Iraq, I would love to have one chambered for 7.62mm NATO even without the "burst" option (I only use the Semi function on my M16 or M4 anyways).

Glasses are a sometimes issue.
Sometimes I need them and sometimes I don't. But mostly when I'm tired or right at dusk, do I need glasses.

I'm growing older every day.

IMHO, you are better off with the longer barrel... you lose a lot of FPS and range with a short barrel in .308 / 7.62x51N. The powder load is timed for the 18” to 24” barrels, even the surplus.

I think the dealer told me this one has the detachable handle, but I'm not sure.
I'll find out when I finish paying it off.

I have a ACOG TA01 NSN - the drop compensator is configured for a 62 gr. 5.56 - I use it for medium to long range tactical competion (0 - 500 yards) - it still works on the 69 gr. handloads that I use. What are you going to use this rifle for? If it’s for close quarters, go with a different reticle or even go with the TA11. Also, if you are serious about mounting an optic, go with a flat top upper.

Unlike SBRs, you can take a suppressor across state lines (so long as legal in both per FOPA regulations) _without_ asking the BATFE for permission.

I love my 223. If I need something stronger that's what a bolt action 30-06 is made for.

We produce this...

http://www.extremefirepower.com/pmrs.html

This is the Rapid Strike(tm) PMRS. We also do carbine versions of this rifle.

I recommend the Armalite AR10 over DPMS or Knights any day for an out of the box unit. Avoid Knights like the plague in any case.

I have an M1 Garand for that,
but it's long, and it's heavy.

You have to know when to hold and when to fold (hide). You pick your time, not they pick yours.

This one, I like, but I've already made my purchase. What did that one cost you?

I’ve got an old Colt SP1 (made about 1970) just like they had when I went in (without the auto). No brass deflector, no forward assist. I love it.

Load it with an issue steel jacket round and it’ll drill a telephone pole.

Busting moving car engines is what I had in mine.
If it will penetrate railroad iron in the middle, I'll be happy.

It's really important that you send the AR-10 to a knowledgeable friend for a suitable breakin period. I'd (cough! cough!) be happy to do that fer ya...sometimes it takes months to get right. Years, I mean. Yeah, years. You never can tell with those things. Some of them, it takes decades...

Seriously, congratulations. I also would consider a slightly longer barrel but then I don't have to hump the thing over hill and dale. YMMV. And yeah, I'd be thinking about completing that purchase before 20 Jan. A new AWB is absolutely in the cards and any Dem who says otherwise is lying.

You mean those neat black tip rounds?
