The face of Cleopatra: Scientists recreate the first true image of the legendary beauty

...Cambridge University Egyptologist...believes the computer-generated 3D image is the best likeness of the legendary beauty...

Pieced together from images on ancient artefacts, including a ring dating from Cleopatra's reign 2000 years ago, it is the culmination of more than a year of painstaking research.

Likeness: The computer-generated 3D image has been pieced
together from images on ancient artefacts

The result is a strikingly beautiful young woman of mixed ethnicity...

...reflect the monarch's Greek heritage as well as her Egyptian upbringing.

...'She probably wasn’t just completely European. You’ve got to remember that her family had actually lived in Egypt for 300 years by the time she came to power.'

Realism: The result is a strikingly beautiful young woman
of mixed ethnicity

Iconic: Liz Taylor in the 1961 film Cleopatra

'For years we've grown up with this image of Antony and Cleopatra as sex symbols. But the truth is something entirely different. 'It truly is quite fascinating. Roman writers tell us that Cleopatra was intelligent and charismatic and that she had a seductive voice. 'But, tellingly, they do not mention her beauty at all' The queen's appearance has long been the subject of debate among academics....

...Born in Alexandra in 69BC, into Macedonian Greek dynasty that had ruled Egypt for 300 years, Cleopatra acceded to the throne at 17. At 20, she seduced Julius Caesar, strengthening her grip on the throne bearing him a love child Caesarion. When Caesar was assassinated in 44BC, she courted Mark Antony, before committing suicide on his death in 30BC. Egypt then became a province of the Roman Empire.

There was a reason why Winston Smith’s job was to rewrite history.

Let's ignore the busts and coins made of Cleopatra at the time of her reign - like:

The gay and black revisionists are, one by one, claiming all historic figures and to he*l with inconvenient historical facts.

This is BS! That's no real depictions of the actual Cleopatra, its modern political correctness gone a muck!! Trying to make every ancient person into 'blacks or mixed' even historical people like Cleopatra who CLEARLY were not black nor mixed black, based upon nothing but their own heresay and "ethnic diversity" of modern ignorance. Do you guys want to see the actual ancient depiction of young Cleopatra that these clowns used to come up with this FAKE modern revisionism "black African Cleopatra"? It was this one:

And hair is styled in a very distinct youthful Greek style known as "melon", not black dreads....this hair fashion for young Greek girls & ladies was named "melon" because the hair was divided into a number of segments running like the ribs of a melon from the forehead to the back of the head:

Now tell me where on Gods Green Earth do they see ANY resemblance with the ancient depiction of young Cleopatra in the first picture I posted above as well as the ancient depiction of the older Cleopatra I post below in where she clearly has white European feature from her thin lips, melon fashion hair which was typical of young Greek girls back then, pointy chin, fat neck, hooked nose and droopy eyes which was an indication of her families constent inbreeding so they can preserve their European Ptolemaic bloodline, to make her look like a black African girl with black features and dreads is beyong logic itself.

They didn't even give her the famous 'Ptolemaic hooked nose' for Gods sake. Cleopatra came from a family, the Ptolemaic Dynasty, who were of Greek origins and INBRED with one another, this inbreeding not only suggests they preserved their Hellenic ethnicity and culture but their bloodline would have been preserved as well and since they came from a region in Greece where fair coloring is very common then Cleopatra as ancient depictions clearly show, was fair colored, not some 'mixed African black' girl. Take a look at her ancient busts and coins: they show a European light skinned woman and this bust from her time period still has traces of reddish gold that was her hair color, not some black African with dreads in her hair.

"There was about a 275 year interval between the accession of Alexander’s general Ptolemy to the Egyptian throne and Cleopatra’s heyday. There was some intermarriage with the locals in the interim so she wasn’t purely “Greek” or Macedonian. But no, she wasn’t black either, most likely."

Incorrect. The Ptolemaic Dynasty did not intermix with the native populations. The Ptolemies had a system in place where inbreeding between themselves was encouraged so they would not be challenged for their legitimacy to the Ptolemaic throne by other Ptolemies. So yes she was 'pure' Greek. Anyone who has actually studied this family and isn't coulded with modern political correctness gone amuck, like the morons who created this fake modern depiction of a black girl who clearly looks nothing like the real Cleopatra, would atest every single ancient depiction we have of this Dynasty including Cleopatra do not show persons of mixed origins BUT of light skinned European Caucasians. I posted a picture of the ancient bust of the young Cleopatra these bozos took and turned into some black African girl with dreads that looks NOTHING AT ALL like the original ancient bust...the original ancient bust of Cleopatra clearly shows a white European girl.

"I should also mention that Cleaopatra was also the first Ptolemy that apparently went native. It's recorded that she was the first (and last, as it happened) Ptolemy to learn the Egyptian language, she adopted the Egyptian religion, and believed herself to be a reincarnation of an Egyptian goddess. She may have been a Ptolemy, but she was far from your traditional Greek ruler."

Oh yes she was your traditional Greek ruler. She didn't only learn Egyptian, she learned to speak ten other languages for political reasons nothing more, but her first and native language was Greek. She dressed in Greek style not Egyptian, there are even Roman writings complaining about how she made Marc Antony into a 'barbarian' by having him wear GREEK style clothing. Egyptian style she wore only sometimes when she wanted to entertain foreign embassies. In reality she never dressed as an Egyptian, another modern misconception of this Queen, having her decked out in Egyptian clothes, she never wore Egyptian style outfits Taylor was seen wearing, her regular fashion was Greek. And Egyptian religion was already infused with Greek religion long before her time in Hellenistic Egypt, but still the Greek rulers including Cleopatra practiced more Greek religion then Egyptian.

"I don't know of any intermarriage with locals in the Ptolomy line. You have any references? While there might have been some intermarriage among the lower parts of the Macedonian ruling class, I don't think the royals would be doing it."

There weren't any intermarriage with locals. The members of this Dynasty family practiced inbreeding so as to not be challenged by other royal family members for their legitimacy over the Ptolemaic throne. One of the rules established by the founder of this Dynasty was that heirs to the throne must be of pure royal Hellenic bloodline, i.e the Hellenic Dynasty families who ruled the Greek world after ATGs death, and of ruling Queens, heck we have Ptolemies who were of nothing but of Ptolemaic origins challenge each other for the throne because ones mother was a Ptolemaic Princess and not a ruling Queen. The Ptolemies were nuts when it came to preserving their royal bloodline because it was their ticket to ruling the Dynasty, so no Nubian or Native Egyptian concubines mixed child would have ever been chosen as heir to this throne.

I stand corrected. I had thought that one of the Berenices in the line was of Egyptian/African origin but it appears they were all originally from Thrace.

I never bought into the Black Athena thing anyway.

The Cleopatra / Cleopatra VII keywords, newest to oldest, duplicates out, alas, I got lazy and didn't include the dates or even the years. They go back a looong way.
