LONDON (Reuters) – God did not create the universe and the "Big Bang" was an inevitable consequence of the laws of physics, the eminent British theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking argues in a new book.
In "The Grand Design," co-authored with U.S. physicist Leonard Mlodinow, Hawking says a new series of theories made a creator of the universe redundant, according to the Times newspaper which published extracts on Thursday.

Ok then, well where did mommy and daddy atoms come from that exploded into all this?
The “big bang” was supposed to be the beginning of it all, so the “big bang” can not be a consequence of anything.
Inevitable consequence of physics? So who created the original matter/energy of the big bang?
He almost had the proof, but then he ran out of chalk. (I know that’s a comment in bad taste :)
This stuff is complicated and inscrutable; how would any mortal be able to refute or confirm it?
What if he said, “The universe came into being because two squirrels stood too close to each other, their tails caught on fire, and poof the Big Bang happened. Double-check the math and it’ll prove it’s true”.
Who’s going to go up to him and say, “Oops Mr. Hawking, you accidentally divided everything by zero and it played havoc with the rest of the equation”.
The reality is he can say anything he wants, however faith-based it may or may not be, and the world will take him seriously.
Until someone smarter than he is comes along and checks the math and discovers that he really did divide everything by zero.
