Striking prehistoric rock art created up to 5,000 years ago has been discovered at almost 100 sites in Somaliland on the Gulf of Aden in eastern Africa.

A local team headed by Dr Sada Mire – of the Institute of Archaeology at University College London (UCL) – made the finds which included a man on horseback, painted around 4,000 years ago – one of the earliest known depictions of a mounted hunter.

Dhambalin, about 40 miles from the Red Sea, features horned cattle, sheep and goats painted about 5,000 years ago. The animals have distinctive bands around their backs and bellies, which suggests farming or ritual traditions.

LOL! Makes you wonder why no prehistoric cans of spray paint haven’t been found.

almost 100 sites in Somaliland …painted around 4,000 years ago – one of the earliest known depictions of a mounted hunter…the quality of the paintings …extraordinarily well-preserved rock art…Other paintings are more mysterious – like the 2,000-year-old colourful images of the full moon

I can believe it.

Pardon me if this all seems too good to be true.

Fraud in archeology is certainly nothing new. This many new discoveries by one researcher in a short time with new never before seen depictions of animals and hunters, extraordinarily well preserved.

If it is too good to be true; it probably is not true.

It’s just an old blackboard. Kids just drew on the board back then because papyrus was hard to come by and it was hard to carry rocks home. It was even harder putting them on the refrigerator,

Hmm . . . I had not considered that. If you are wrong it is a great discovery, if you are right, it is a great movie plot.

See! It’s a win win.

Well, Somaliland has been closed to outsiders, and still is closed to outsiders.
For some reason archaeologists from Western Universities are adverse to threat of decapitation in their quest to discover previously undocumented ancient sites.
