Tutankhamun's replica tomb to be re-erected in Luxor

A committee administering Egypt's antiquities decided Tuesday to re-erect a dismantled replica tomb of King Tutankhamun, placing it beside the former residence of discoverer Howard Carter on Luxor's west bank.

Secretary-general of the Ministry of the State of Antiquities (MSA), Mostafa Amin, told Ahram Online that the replica tomb will provide tourists with a better picture of how Carter lived during his excavation work at the Valley of the Kings in the early 1920s.

Tourists can already visit the Carter Rest-House in Luxor, which has been restored and developed into a museum displaying the tools and instruments he used during his excavations.

The re-erected tomb will stay in Luxor until the completion of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) overlooking the Giza plateau, where it will eventually be transferred.

The re-erection of the replica tomb is a gift to Egypt from the Factum Foundation in Madrid, the Society of Friends of the Royal Tombs of Egypt in Zurich and the University of Basel, in order to promote the EU Task Force Conference - which took place in Egypt almost a year ago - as well as to mark the 90th anniversary of the beginnings of Howard Carter's work in Luxor.

British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered Tutankhamun's tomb at the Valley of the Kings on Luxor’s west bank on 22 November 1922. The tomb was then dismantled and stored in one of the MSA's archaeological galleries.

I always wanted to go to Egypt until recently - I fear the situation will never be stable enough for me to want to take the risk!

I suspect this will be blown up by the Muslim Brotherhood or other Islamist terrorists.

I so desperately want to go visit Egypt, and something like this would be fantastic to see.

A few years ago, an Egyptian family had a booth at the state fair, where they were giving away tourism brochures. Near Cairo, the Egyptians have constructed an ancient Egyptian style city, where tourists can go experience (as much as possible, anyway) a typical ancient Egyptian day.

I only wish Egypt were safe to visit... hopefully, that will happen soon.

And American and Western tourists will die ( blown to pieces, have their throats cut or their heads cut off by blood-thirsty, murderous, Muslim maniacs.) for him if they are foolish enough to EVER go to Egypt.

Islam and murderous Muslim maniacs in Egypt have permanently destroyed tourism in Egypt. A Western or American (heck ANY tourist) would have to be out of his mind to take his family to Egypt, unless they have a death wish because there is no way the Egyptian government or anyone can guarantee their protection, safety or their lives because their are literally millions of Muslims living throughout Egypt who would kill you in a heart beat to carry out Jihad and get their perverted "paradise", their 70 "virgins" along with a perpetual hard-on to pork them with because of their mindless obecience to the perverted promises of Mohamed, their bloody moon-god Allah, and the dictates of their blood soaked unholy Koran. If your "lucky" and they don't kill you, maybe they will just gang rape your wife and daughter in broad daylight in Takrit Square for fun and giggles because... You know, they were just asking for it based on the way they dressed = no veil or hajib covering them from head to toe with meshed slits in the glorified bag for them to see through.

Egypt has no one to blame for this tourism tragedy but itself AND Ayatola Obamessiah.

Islam is not a religion, it is nothing but a death cult like the Thuggie. However, unlike the Thuggie cult, Egypt and most of the world lacks the will to do what was once done to eradicate the Thuggies. You don't see too many of them around do you? Why? Study history and see what steps had to be taken to eradicate them. "Black Jack" Pershing knew how to deal with the Muslim terrorists in the Philipeans; his actions put an end to it for FIFTY YEARS!

Sadly, there are no Pershings or Pattons left today so tourism in Egypt is all but dead.

You might have to wait for the resurrection of King Richard the lionheart to fulfill his final plans

Dang it. I shoulda knowed, because he had a condo made of stone-a.

My Classics Professor made himself exceedingly unpopular on last year's trip to Athens when he said "why not must move all this crap to Arizona and be done with it?"
