Rendering a Salute to Our Flag.
Oh goody! another Amy thread :-)
I just adore that patriotic wintery scene with the snowman.
By Dr, Jubal Harshaw
(Robert A. Heinlein in Stranger in a Strange Land)
The depths of winter longing are ice within my heart
The shards of broken covenants lie sharp against my soul
The wraiths of long-lost ecstasy keep us two apart
The sullen winds of bitterness still keen from turn to pole
The scars of twisted tendons, the stumps of struck of limbs
The aching pit of hunger and the throb of unset bone,
My sanded burning eyeballs, as light within them dims,
Add nothing to the torment of lying here alone
The shimmering flames of fever trace out your blessed face
My broken eardrums echo your voice inside my head
I do not fear the darkness that comes to me apace
I only dread the loss of you that comes when I am dead.
Good Morning, Amy!
It is December, alright! Beautiful Opening.
During the Christmas season we wait. We wait in traffic. We wait in checkout lines to purchase gifts. We wait for family to arrive. We wait to gather around a table filled with our favorite foods. We wait to open presents lovingly chosen.
All of this waiting can be a reminder to Christians that Christmas is a celebration of waiting for something much more important than holiday traditions. Like the ancient Israelites, we too are waiting for Jesus. Although He already came as the long-awaited Messiah, He has not yet come as ruler over all the earth. So today we wait for Christs second coming.
Christmas reminds us that God also waits . . . He waits for people to see His glory, to admit that they are lost without Him, to say yes to His love, to receive His forgiveness, to turn away from sin. While we wait for His second coming, He waits for repentance. What seems to us like Gods slowness in coming is instead His patience in waiting (2 Peter 3:9).
The Lord is waiting to have a relationship with those He loves. He made the first move when He came as baby Jesus and the sacrificial Lamb. Now He waits for us to welcome Him into our lives as Savior and Lord.
running late for church, so I’ll not try and floormat this.
A Liberal’s Christmas
Kung Pao Buckaroo Holiday
Twas the month before Christmas
When all through our land,
Not a Christian was praying
Nor taking a stand.
Why the Politically Correct Police had taken away
The reason for Christmas - no one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people’s feelings, the teachers would say
December 25th is just a ‘ Holiday’.
Yet the shoppers were ready with cash, checks and credit
Pushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-Pod
Something was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and Kwanzaa
In hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe’s the word Christmas - was no where to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny’s and Sears
You won’t hear the word Christmas; it won’t touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-si-ty
Are words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Darden, Now Sharpton, Wolf Blitzen
On Boxer, on Rather, on Kerry, on Clinton!
At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatter
To eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate ‘Winter Break’ under your ‘Dream Tree’
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS, not Happy Holiday!
Please, all Christians join together and wish everyone you meet MERRY CHRISTMAS
Christ is The Reason’ for the Christ-mas Season!
The REAL MEANING OF CHRISTMAS
What a First Christmas, The McKamey’s
A Baby Changes Every Thing, Faith Hill
IF Stores only have happy holidays on their doors, you as a Christian have a choice to make, do I spend my money in the store that is PC and has driven out the True Meaning of Christmas, or do I want to shop at a store that still has the courage to say Merry CHRISTmas. The only way to get through to the PC Liberals is to hurt their Bottom Line PROFITS! We can fight back with our wallets, or cave in to the PC liberals who want NO GOD, NO JESUS, only a one world religion that neither promotes peace nor harmony, but is a cult of ME FIRST!
Merry Christmas..Amen to the reason for the season.
Thank you for the music and poem, Gail.
Amen and Thank you for the opening. Love the praying hands.
Beautiful scene, Jaidyn..Thank you
O my that’s so pretty! I think I’ll at least get my angels out today..
Advent Blessings be upon you, MEG!
Thank you, ML.
Very nice, looks warm and cozy.
Goodnight, and God Bless.
We call it the Integrity League, but its really just a bunch of guys who get together at lunchtime to play basketball. We call fouls on ourselves, attempt to avoid angry outbursts, and simply try to keep everything fair and enjoyable. We are competitive and we dont like to losebut we all agree that integrity and honesty should control the atmosphere.
Integrity. Scripture clearly indicates the importance of this trait. And we honor the God of our lives when we practice it.
Through His Word, God has given us clear reasons to walk in . . . integrity (Ps. 26:11). A person who has integrity has the security of a quiet life unknown to the one who perverts his ways (Prov. 10:9). The follower of God who lives with integrity is preserved by his confidence in God, for that person waits for Gods intervention in his life instead of running ahead of Him (Ps. 25:21). And the one who practices integrity will be given guidance and clear direction (Prov. 11:3).
Why should we care about lifes Integrity League? Because obeying God this way shows that we trust Him with our lives and that we want to shine His great love on others.
O Holy Night - Josh Groban
Handel’s “Messiah”, of course!
But I wrote a Christmas oratorio too. It is called “Sar Shalom” and was performed once years ago.
It’s good but can’t hold a candle to Handel.
Hey, how was your Disneyland trip? Hope you had good weather and a great time.
Disneyland was sooo crowded it was almost impossible to walk. The California adventure was not quite so crowded but still way too many people. We should have stayed at visited Disneyland on Thanksgiving. LOL
Most of the rides had long lines with at least a 40 minute wait. Marissa didn't get to ride too many times. She rode that Matterhorn, rode the nothing boat and went on the little kid airplanes. She did some shopping and saw several Disney characters.
We watched the Christmas parade twice ... once during daylight and once after the sun went down. We watched the fireworks from our hotel. They were awesome.
The second day, we went to California Adventure. There, we watched a show, she hugged Pluto and we ate dinner at one of the restaurants. Marissa rode the big roller coaster 3 times. There was another ride she wanted to take but the line was at least a 90 minutes wait. We watched another parade.
If you go, do not go when school is on vacation or holiday.
One on MrJust’s nephews spent one day with us. Went to dinner and the mall.
We all had a great time.
How about a link to Mannheim Steamroller?
Yes, I will find a graphic and a link to some Mannheim Steamroller. I am internet Christmas shopping on Amazon today, but it's time for a break. BTW, need an inexpensive and very cool gift? Do a search on Amazon for "recipe rock". I am getting one for almost everyone on my Christmas list as a stocking stuffer. The guys can use it on their office desks and the women in the kitchen (I know, I am stereotyping - don't care, LOL.)
Next, we (the dogs and I) are going to decorate the tree and get the house all Christmasy. "Killion's Bed and Breakfast" is expecting to be very busy in December. LOL. I enjoy having holiday company, but I have so much to do!!
This is wonderful, Lori. Thank you.
Happy Monday, LTOS.
Do you have a link to “Messiah”? Care to share?
Sweet! YOu’ve been away too long, Jack! :)
I finally have kitties...two orange ones. Yay!
Thank You for that!
I LOVE those guys!
This is from the Christmas section.
That was beautiful, Thank you, LTOS.
That is so pretty, Jaidyn. Thank you for sharing.
Now it is time to put “The Messiah” into my cd player to have it lull me to sleep every night and wake me up each morning.
That is really sweet, Jack.
Thank you for sharing your poems with us. We enjoy them.
Good morning Jack ((HUGS))
Thank for the kitty entertainment.
Read: 1 John 2:243:3
For years, Sarah had low-back pain that continued to worsen. Her doctor sent her for physical therapy, and she was given 25 stretches to do every day. The pain lessened but not completely. So the doctor ordered x-rays and sent her to another therapist, who instructed her to discontinue the other therapists stretches and do only one stretch a day as needed. Surprisingly, the one simple stretch worked the best.
Sometimes the simplest truths are the best. When asked to summarize in one sentence his whole lifes work in theology, Karl Barth responded: Jesus loves me! Some say he added, This I know, for the Bible tells me so.
Gods love for us is evident. He gave His Son to rescue us from ourselves. Christ died on the cross, taking our burden of sin. Then He rose again, giving us new life in Him. Amazing love! As John tells us: Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! (1 John 3:1).
Jesus love for us isnt a Band-Aid or a cure-all for all of lifes problems, of course. But it is the one truth we can always depend on to give purpose to life and peace with God.
