UPDATE: Number of WI layoff notices has already topped 2014 totals

MADISON (WKOW) -- At the halfway point of 2015, Wisconsin employers have already notified the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) of more planned layoffs than in all of 2014.
As of June 30, state employers have notified DWD they will be laying off a total of 6,685 employees. That is higher than the total number for both 2012 (6,511) and 2014 (6,186).
At the current pace Wisconsin would see more than 13,000 planned layoffs announced in 2015, the highest of any year under Gov. Scott Walker (R-Wisconsin). The previous high during the Walker administration was just over 9,000 in 2011, his first year in office.
"We want to do everything we can to help these individuals. I know in Milwaukee we've had a couple," said DWD Secretary Reggie Newson.
Layoffs at a Wells Fargo mortgage office and at Assurant Health insurance services in Milwaukee are putting over 2,100 people out of work.
While industry experts say the Assurant Health job losses came because the company did not adjust to changes brought on by the Affordable Care Act, Rep. Mandela Barnes said the fact that 45 percent of the statewide layoffs have impacted employees in the Milwaukee area is no surprise.
"When Wisconsin gets a cold, Milwaukee gets the flu," said Rep. Barnes. "When you look at the number of layoff notices that are being offered, but with no solution coming out of Madison, that's a problem."
Rep. Barnes blamed Gov. Walker for implementing weak job creation policies early in his administration, followed by little focus on jobs the past few years.
"We're seeing a whole host of economically unsound policies being put forth by the Governor," said Rep. Barnes.
"Well, let me talk about the unemployment rate here in Wisconsin, which is at 4.6%, the lowest it's been since the fall of 2008," Secretary Newson said in response to such criticism.
Newson points to that data and the fact that overall job growth is up. Wisconsin added 35,759 jobs in 2014. He did not offer any explanation for rapid spike in layoffs this year.
"What I'm hearing from employers is they have job openings and opportunities," said Newson.
The state records the notifications on the date when they are informed about the layoffs, which can then sometimes take effect over the course of a year or several years afterwards. In some instances, impacted employees are brought back if a company comes under new ownership. Such cases are denoted in DWD records.
South Central Wisconsin employers have accounted for just 5 percent of the layoff notices, with none recorded in the southwestern corner of the state.
You can find the data through June 26, 2015 and the earlier years here:

I lived in Wisconsin less than a year ago. The economy there is just fine, thank you. Since moving to Georgia, I have seen the Department of Labor mis-report our employment numbers by a full percentage point, only to correct it after the elections in November. Wisconsin’s unemployment remains at something like 4.6%, which is quite good for that part of the country. Not Texas good. Not North Dakota good. But upper midwest good.
Most conservatives like budget cuts, right to work passing, tax rebates and cuts. He heads the executive branch like a conservative.

My point is, voters need to assess for themselves whether this needs to go nationwide. With Wisconsin being 50th in new business start ups, 44th in private sector jobs growth, and having lost more jobs than any other state in May, I think it is a valid question. That only scratches the surface, but we’ll see how the WEDC investigation goes.

No, actually Gov. Doyle lost around 47,000 jobs in 8 years at the height of the recession when unemployment rose to about 10%. At the Current rate, Wisconsin would lose about 104,000 jobs in that period of time.
I believe you are citing a net number for Doyle, and a raw number for Walker, two different things.

So it is Walker’s fault when ObamaCare has some health insurance company in Wisconsin that is being closed if it is not sold in the Milwaukee Area and there is also Humana is being sold to Aetna Insurance!

Good! We need to lay off many government employees in every state. Get a real job. Make something useful.

Unfortunately, many of these are plant closings. In one case there was a home health company that went out of business, while in Minnesota a home health business is making large numbers of new hires. It is weird what is going on in Wisconsin.
I am in touch with a few folks who lost their jobs there and have relocated to other states,

Plant closings and private businesses laying off and closing are not so good.

"Good! We need to lay off many government employees in every state. Get a real job. Make something useful." Great point. The bigger the government employee base, the more likely the socialistic turn is going to happen. Small gov. encourages free society.

"When Wisconsin gets a cold, Milwaukee gets the flu," said Rep. Barnes That analogy makes zero sense. Shouldn't it be "When Wisconsin gets a cold, Milwaukee gets pneumonia?" Something like that?

My stats were from NOLO, a legal rights law firm for workers that are facing layoffs.

No, I think the analogy makes sense. I didn’t have anything to do with the wording of the article but I get their point.

Link would be nice, as under Doyle, we were looking at 10%+, and under Walker we are at 4.6%, and the needle isn't moving significantly.

I already acknowledged the difference in the unemployment rate under Doyle. The national average was higher than that. It would seem that at the height of the recession the job layoffs would have been higher than now, but were lower.
Find whatever stats make you happy. Gotta go cook for hubby.

The aid for the states is to be paid for mostly by closing a tax loophole used by multinational corporations and by reducing food stamp benefits for the poor...The legislation provides $10 billion to school districts to rehire laid-off teachers or to ensure that more teachers won't be let go before the new school year begins."

"
Congressional Democrats angered centrist school reformers, MoveOn.org-style progressives, and other party activists in August when they voted to ladle $10 billion in federal subsidies (funded from future cuts to the Food Stamp program) to school districts in order to stave off layoffs of 160,000 teachers (or just 2.6 percent of the nation's 6.2 million school employees). In turn, the National Education Association and the American Federation of Teachers poured more than $40 million of their hefty campaign war chests (including more than $15 million by the NEA in the last weeks of the election season alone) to help the Democrats keep full control of Congress."

There are too many regulators and other useless government employees. Real production for generating real revenues (as differentiated from recirculating debt) is suppressed by too many regulations (examples being planning regulations and residential building regulations in rural areas, zoning against new, small manufacturing in rural areas, etc.), property taxes wrongfully high with fictitious real estate values, high fees and mercantilism against our own nation (government-connected traitors using government to prevent competition). Many government pay cuts are needed. Many offices and positions need to be closed.
Walker is the only candidate willing to cut big government funding, regulations and consequent excessive political control for government employees and their cronies: number one killers of real production on American soil.
