I just forced myself to watch it again and again and have altered what I understand about the video.
There a total of FOUR places where the time skips around.
The FIRST scene time stamp begins at 13:26:24 and runs until 13:26:27.
It then skips to the SECOND scene 2:18:33 and runs to 2:18:43. The first two are statements by Berg.
It then skips to the THIRD Scene at 2:40:33 with the Islamofascist making statements until 2:44:12 when they drag him to the floor by the hair. Berg appears calm and unconcerned but alert.
Then the time stamp suddenly skips to the FOURTH scene at 13:45:47 and appears to be the same scene where the actual beheading began. At 13:45:00 Berg appears to struggle and convulse as they start to cut but this may be the terrorists jostling. The man with the knife doing the deed is wearing a BLACK hood and the man on his back is wearing a WHITE hood. This scene runs to 13:46:33 where the head is almost fully severed.
The FIFTH scene jumps to 13:47:46 where the man in the WHITE hood appears to be completing the grisly task and holds up Berg's head as a surprise.
The apparent chronological order of occurrence in scenes APPEARS to be 2nd, 3rd, FIRST, 4th, and 5th, but truthfully, the first scene may have been made the previous day.
For some reason after the third scene, they "re-enacted" the execution and for other unknown reasons, they also "re-enacted" the lifting of the severed head.
I am a country boy and have seen animals slaughtered where their carotid artery is severed seconds after they are shot in the brain. The blood squirts out in a 5 foot stream. There is no apparent heart beat during the actual beheading as no blood squirts.
He never screams, "Please!", "No!" or anything that appears to be anything other than guttural yells.
I saw the blood, too. But it, as you point out, appears to be running out of a corpse and not a living body.
Oh, and BTW, it's also against posting guidelines to drag disputes from thread to thread.

What is stupid about it? There are at least two versions, a fuzzy edited version being carried on a rape porn site, and longer clearer version on a NZ site. Which one are you describing?
Some news outlets have raised questions about time gaps in the Nick Berg murder video, citing an 11-hour gap in the sequence. Complete hogwash. The video is in real time and is shot with 2 video cameras with their internal timestamps set differently. The final video is edited back and forth with shots from both cameras, with one 22-minute gap while the group execution scene is prepared after Berg's initial statement. At times the scene shows the second cameraman in the margins of the video as they switch back and forth.
Here is the sequence and the timestamps shown on both cameras:
Begin, camera one, 13:26:24 to 13:26:28
Berg talking, seated in a chair.Cut to camera two, 2:18:35 to 2:18:43
Berg still talking, still in chair, viewed from another angle but no time gap. Berg's statement takes about 12 seconds.Skip ahead 22 minutes, camera two, 2:40:30
Now we see the five terrorists standing behind Berg, who is now seated on the floor, with the center man preparing to read a written statement. This scene runs until 2:44:48, taking 4 minutes 18 seconds, and ends with the center man pulling his knife, grabbing Berg by the hair, and the other men grabbing and holding Berg down.Cut to camera one, 13:45:47
Execution scene continued from other camera angle, no gap in action. At 13:46:30 you can plainly see the other cameraman in the right margin of the frame, and you can see him using his video camera for the remainder of this shot. This scene runs for 46 seconds as the head is sawed off, until 13:46:33.Gap of 73 seconds, to 13:47:46
Cut to scene of killer lifting up and then holding severed head up to the camera. This scene runs until 13:47:53.Cut back to camera two, 2:46:18 to 2:46:22

Head is shown resting on the chest of the decapitated body, camera pans to the severed neck for a few seconds, video ends 13:48:49.
There are two short time gaps in the sequence. First there is apparently a 22-minute gap between Berg's statement and the actual execution scene. Second, there is a 73-second gap (camera one) while the killers apparently finish severing the head and get it loose to hold up. Camera two is missing 90 seconds at this point. With the obvious editing back and forth between scenes from two cameras, this gap is probably not significant. Perhaps the terrorists did not want to show the difficulty of severing the spine to get the head loose, which I suspect would be quite hard with a knife.
Total elapsed on camera one (13:26:24 to 13:48:49) 22 minutes 25 seconds.
Total elapsed on camera two (2:18:35 to 2:46:22) 27 minutes 47 seconds.
Camera one was probably not running during the reading of the terrorist statement, and perhaps camera one has a time "counter" as opposed to a "clock" meaning it shows time filmed, not real clock time. If that were the case with camera two, then it is missing 22 minutes of actual footage, not 22 minutes of real time. I think that unlikely. However, the value of the numbers on camera two seem more likely to be clock time than footage time, unless the cameraman simply forgot to reset his counter from prior sessions. Leave this to someone more knowledgeable than me on video cameras.
Forget any bizarre theories being put forth about 11 hour time gaps in this video. It was done in real time, with two cameras running near continuously, and then edited only slightly to produce the final film.
I would welcome other analysis and comments on this subject. Perhaps someone will spend more time than me looking at this gruesome thing. I've had enough of it.

This is completely incorrect, as a viewing of the full 5 minute video will show without any doubt. There is no time gap, but two cameras being used and then edited back and forth throughout the film. The timestamps on the two cameras are set at about 11 hours apart, but are incorrect and being run simultaneously. Please view a full analysis at:

The first thing I thought of when viewing the video was that there was no blood. Does anyone recall the Sabre's goalie, Clint Malarchuk, who had his throat cut by a skate almost 15 years ago? More specifically, his internal carotid artery was severed. The video of that, which was replayed recently on ESPN, showed a tremendous amount of blood "splilling" from his throat - I was amazed at the force and amount of blood that was lost in a matter of seconds. Nick Berg's death is certainly a tragedy and by no means am I trying to minimalize it by discussing the inconsistencies, but the lack of blood is certainly interesting.

I can believe it. He was wandering around Iraq with electronic equipment and probably electronics repair equipment when he was picked up. When he revealed that he had been questioned by Iraqi police and the FBI had been snooping around, Al Queda decide that he had become a liability and decided to make his execution dual purpose.
During the third scene I doubt that he is drugged as he sits up on his own throughout the tedious propaganda speech and shifts around several time to try to relieve some physical discomfort he is experiencing. His head is erect and he appears alert. I don't think he was expecting what came next.
IMHO, the actual murder was botched as they zoomed in too much and were out of focus so they decided to do it again, this time with a beheading.

It's just that it's pretty hard to be sure of the exact chain-of-evidence of any file you download off the Internet.
There is no way of telling how many intermediate owners that file had, and how many edits they may have made, for whatever purpose.
My guess is that the Islamofascists themselves decided the original raw video was too bloody for their purposes, which was merely to recruit more Islamofascist crazies.
They may have dimly realized, in the fashion of primitive animals, that one or two Americans might get really riled up when they saw all the blood, so they cut and restaged some of it to sanitize it a bit, just as you say.

I see that you are correct. I neglected to view the last few seconds of the video and my copy is corrupted and won't show the head on the chest. It is clear that there are two cameras.
But that still doesn't explain the lack of blood.
Couple things I noticed while watching the tape. There are a couple of thick army type blankets spread out on the floor....I think they placed them there to soak up the blood. I also noticed Berg was on his stomach as the killing took place so he would have bleed out the front.....yet in the close up after it was done ...I noted blood on Bergs back.
Thank you for your bottom line analysis of what's really important. Unfortunately, the press, aided by conspiracy theorists, isn't going to rest until they know which hood Secretary Rumsfeld is wearing in the video.
