Lynne Cheney Responds to Kerry's Remarks After Debate
Vice President's Wife Accuses Kerry of 'Tawdry Political Trick' in Mentioning Mary Cheney's Homosexuality
By Michael Laris Washington Post Staff Writer Wednesday, October 13, 2004; 11:42 PM
MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa., Oct. 13 -- Lynne V. Cheney, wife of Vice President Cheney, accused John F. Kerry Wednesday night of "a cheap and tawdry political trick" and said he "is not a good man" after he brought up their daughter's homosexuality at the final presidential debate.
Mary Cheney, one of the vice president's two daughters and an official of the Bush-Cheney campaign, has been open about her lesbian status. The candidates were asked if they believe homosexuality is a choice, and Bush did not mention Mary Cheney. Then Kerry said, "If you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as."[snip]

...Lynne Cheney issued her post-debate rebuke to a cheering crowd outside Pittsburgh. "The only thing I can conclude is he is not a good man. I'm speaking as a mom," she said. "What a cheap and tawdry political trick."....'
I agree. I thought his answer to that sounded like, "The young people will remain enslaved to the government so we can siphon off their earnings to support current retired Democratic voters." Plus, I just about flipped when he advocated expanding Medicare to age 55! Sure, after all, we've got so much extra money laying around for Medicare, what the heck, everybody join! Hey, let's start Social Security at 40, too! Seems to me if someone wants to retire at age 55 (wouldn't that be nice) they need to plan so that they have their own health care. Otherwise, you need to keep working... even at age 55, how inhumane.
WOW - the new Swiftees ads are killers!! Send them to everyone you know.
They've looked at the poll numbers, and concluded that can't find enough undecideds to make the difference, so they're going after portions of the President's base, trying to peel them away. Shades of the DUI outing in 2000.
He obviously really doesn't understand the religious right. Cheney's daughter's sexuality will be of no importance to Christians other than to love her and pray for her, not exploit her publicly. He blew it.
It wasn't a cheap shot to show "understanding and compassion" by Kerry, it was Kerry outing Cheney's lesbian daughter so the religious right is sure to know. Tacky, low and well...pretty much to be expected from these losers.
He mentioned both. Bush didn't address avoiding the NAALCP, but those of us who still wonder at the tax-exempt status of a "non-partisan" organization that blamed the Pres for dragging James Byrd to death, know perfectly well why he blew them off.

what do you expect from the left? they've been making your sex life a political issue for a generation.
"The sex thing" keeps people distracted from their other crimes.
Does this mean you are going to come out and admit you are gold-digging, lying, gigilo POS, Senator Kerry?
When did this ever happen? As far as I recall, I don't think the President has made any mention of Mary Cheney. Randy Yale obviously loves to exhibit his ignorance to the readers of the Raleigh News & Observer.
LOL.
So what if she works for the campaign? Her personal sexual life is "fair game"?
Shawn should have shoved this ad into Terry M. face last night when asking him about the tone in Washington.
My letter to the editor of our local rag:
What is the problem with Kerry and Edwards? It seems like they feel compelled to mention Cheney's lesbian daughter at every turn.
Kerry said, "If you were to talk to Dick Cheney's daughter, who is a lesbian, she would tell you that she's being who she was, she's being who she was born as."
It's not like we don't already know about it. How could he possibly presume to speak for the young woman and know the choices she has or hasn't made.
How would Kerry like it if Bush commented on his daughter showing off her breasts and other assets while in Cannes for the Michael Moore movie premiere? Or, if he dragged the Heinz son who refuses to campaign for his Dad into the mix?
Kerry and Edwards seem to have an unhealthy fascination with lesbians. This all smacks of a cheap political trick, or perhaps Kerry and Edwards spend too much time listening to Howard Stern?

"Mention of Gay Daughter a Cheap Trick, Lynne Cheney Says"
Once again this proves Skerry will step on anyone to gain political power, and aother reason to call him the CHEAP SLEEZEBALL he is.
headlines could read:
I think the statements about the Cheney daughter is such a clear vision of the vicisousness of these two men.
Democrats assume that their lock on certain demographics gives them permission to use anyone in those groups for any political expedience.
