Queen Beatrix limited her involvement to visiting immigrant kids at a Moroccan "youth center." This was hardly what public opinion was clamoring for. At this point, the Dutch seem more inclined to move from Live and Let Live to its opposite, and are calling for laws that make the Patriot Act look like Kumbayah. |

Oh, the hate is still there, it's just under the vaneer, waiting for an event to break through. The Dutch have gotten there event and will have more to come. They are already taking matters into their own hands, good.

I wouldn't say so. Read what the tolerant dutch did to the calvinists, when they got tired of being tolerant. Those who are at extremes are apt to swing hard and wide. Today's tolerant dutch have the potential of turning very savage. Remember, muslims are 1/16th their population.

Longer answer? I'm about 1/3rd Dutch... and real easy to get along with, unless you push a little too far. Then it's Berserker Time.

Death threats force controversial Dutch MP underground I had thought that Europe had about another 20 years or so before the "counterrevolution" would begin. If the Dutch are this fed up, one shudders at what the Germans will do once the breaking point is reached there.

Today's tolerant dutch have the potential of turning very savage. Remember, muslims are 1/16th their population.I was surprised to hear this statistic because I've read so many places that Muslims keep a very low profile until they reach what they regard as critical mass--about 20% or 1/5 IIRC.
Looks to me like a few somebodies jumped the gun so to speak, and thank God they did. It sounded the alarm bell earlier than they may have intended.
OTOH from other accounts it sounds like they've all but taken over the big cities. Perhaps they have critical mass there and forgot all about the "red" areas.
I do hope the Dutch respond in time and in sufficient force to repel this invasion. I think it's too late for France, and Spain will have to get up off their bellies and stop groveling if they hope to stay Spain and not Andalusia.

Wilders said he is not opposed to mainstream Islam but is concerned by studies saying 10 percent of the Dutch Muslim population -- or about 100,000 people -- support radical Islamic views. Another interesting statistic from your "rest of the story" link. I wonder if Wilders is right that it's only 10%.
That would leave 90% of Dutch muslims who are not terrs. If so, one would expect them to start turning in the terrorists in their midst and to speak out against such criminals loudly and publically.
If they don't, a person could figure maybe a whole lot of them are terrorists even if only in sympathies.

I found their silence damning, and I suspect it is no different in Holland.

I wonder if Wilders is right that it's only 10%. I suspect that it depends greatly on how one defines the term "radical islamic views".
Such as, would the destruction of Israel be a radical islamic view or a mainstream one?
