As soon as the eye moves over NO, immediately get everyone in the superdome to run outside into big trucks and drive away as quick as possible so the trucks follow the eye

And with any luck, the eye will make a few key turns, then travel right up the interstate!

I'm amazed those pumping stations don't have their own large generators. You'd think they'd work with the local utilities to colocate some combustion turbine generating capacity with the pumping stations.

"the pumps don't work cause the vandals took the handles"

Reminded me of that scene in the movie Airplane, and the jet is about to land. The lights of the runway go off, and they pan to the goofy guy in the tower who had pulled the plug. "Just kiddding..." says he.

LOL

I made an observation about the people who have b*tched and moaned all day yesterday about how the mayor and other officials were idiots for not evacuating sooner; I'm seeing people b*tch and moan this morning about this being a "cry wolf" situation.

A good observation, by the way. This "damned if you do, damned if you don't" situation that inevitably gets hyped adds to leaders' indecision. It helps no one.

Ultimately, people have to act on the information they have available at the time - but when they do so it's hardly appropriate to second guess them after the fact.

Someone was reporting that most of the casinos are built on barges, to float? He sounded pretty smart about it. Wondering if it's true.

Perhaps people could drive the storm with prayer.

Harrigans goggles won't protect against objects and glass. He ought to come in.

A big tree limb just crashed on our front window, the window is about 40 feet high from first to second floor. Window held

We just lost a tree, it went away from the house. And the wind is not that strong here.

42040 Buoy is in open water, and very deep water.

Waves should not be as bad in shallow, coastal areas.

The predicted storm surge is the real problem...

I believe MS prohibits casinos built on land, so they build them out over the water. Read that here yesterday.

Yesterday Gov Barbour said that part of the stipulation of building the casinos was that they would have to be be "floating casinos"
