The trouble as I see it is that Iran
can hit US forces in the Middle East
with nukes should they get them. They can
claim they are legitimate military targets.
America is not prepared to lose a naval task
force or fifty thousand troops to a Iranian
nuke sneak attack.

>>>I don't think it is on the President's agenda either, or instead of 160,000 troops in Iraq, we would have 460,000.<<<

Which is the obvious best argument that we will not fight Iran with a conventional war....ie: tanks, planes and infantry.

Any war with Iran, whether by us or Israel, will be "non-conventional", a decapitation strike of immense proportions.

Has anyone thought of those nut cases making a dirty bomb and smuggling into a major metropolis and detonating it there?

As history as taught us, the terrorist use rather innocuous items to wreak their jihad terror.?

No need for a brand new shinny missile, a beat up container truck will do just fine.

That is certainly an option. Watch for deployment of carrier battle goups to the area for a tip off.

My gravest concern is that the Iranian nuclear sites are so hardened that no conventional weapons would take them out completely. I don't see us ever using nukes for a preemptive strike , which would leave conventional ground forces to eliminate the sites.

I would expect Iran to retaliate against our troops in Iraq in any case. We would have to have more troops on the ground in Iraq even if we go after Iran with an unconventional strike.

We, and the Israelis, do have options. But, I will stick by my original point...the mood in the nation after four years of smearing Bush over Iraq will not let us do a thing. Politically, it won't happen. We can thank the idiots in the MSM and the Dim party for that.

Look for a year of trying to get sanctions in the UN, by then, Iran will have the nukes and will dare us to hit them.

Sure, that would work, but dirty bombs are less potent, and require nuclear waste. They have to get to nuclear first.

Bush has burned too many times over what-ifs. I think he will lead Congress to the alter this time, and let them decide what they want to do.
