I’m going to try something entirely new to Free Republic………..start a thread restricted to practical, positive. pro-active things that this huge forum filled with good people who love this country can actually DO about helping to solve the illegal immigration problem, and how we can ‘encourage’ our leaders at all levels to get their acts together.
This is not a thread for venting or attacking (Heaven knows, that‘s been done plenty around here!). Let’s keep it entirely positive……..no attacks on the President and ‘Bushbots’ or the GOP………or on each other, from EITHER side. No threats to ’kick the GOP bums out’ …….we all know that the risk of having Dems in power is too great for that irresponsible threat. NO name-calling from EITHER side……..’Jorge‘ and ‘El Presidente‘ both qualify as disrespectful name-calling. (Perhaps we can all just ignore anyone who tries to turn this into a hostile thread, and punch the abuse button, but NOT engage in battle with him/her). Disagree, but be respectful about it.
What we really need are practical things we can do……with links to key Senate and Congressional offices, the White House, as well as STATE and LOCAL government offices, examples of THOUGHTFUL and POSITIVE letters to our leaders that will actually be read, and responded to. Phone numbers, and ideas for THOUGHTFUL and POSITIVE phone calls to leaders. What we also need are specific PRAYER requests for you, so that those of us who believe that our God is the God of the impossible can be on our knees in prayer for the details of this immense problem. We need fervent prayer for the President and Congress, as well as our State and Local authorities. And we need Freeper creativity!
We are LEGION, and together, I believe we can make a difference in moving this engine down the track more rapidly.
There are people who are very angry with the President and the Republicans in Congress, and people who still respect and admire the President greatly, and are angry with the Republicans in Congress……..and even some who are NOT angry with the Republicans in Congress (OK……..maybe not..... :)………..but we ALL want to end this invasion, and help our brothers and sisters in the Southwest to have their safe and normal lives return, and prevent the invasion from moving further.
Those of us outside the region may not understand what things are like, but we want to, so if those of you in the affected states could give us more details about how bad this is, without belittling us because we don’t live there, it would be much appreciated. We know it‘s bad, and we care about it, even though we cannot fully appreciate it from where we sit.
There is a great work force of pro-Bush people out in freeper lurker land who have been shoved out of the discussion by bashers. There are lots of us who want to know what’s going on, but wouldn’t go on a standard immigration thread if our lives depended on it, because the disdain for us there is palpable. We may agree with the idea of a guest worker program, or we may not, but we don‘t want to be labeled just because our ideas are different.
So…… LET US HELP YOU, PLEASE! We are activists, and we are willing to work.
Tell us what we can do. Let’s band together on this important issue to do whatever we can do to put pressure on Congress, the White House, state and local governments………polite, respectful pressure……….as well as encouraging them when they do make good decisions, and see what happens.
What do you think? Can we be pro-active and actually get something done? Can we discuss this without rancor, but with the common goal in mind to rescue our beloved country from invasion?
If you think so, please ping those who will, without personal attacks, tell us their stories, and let us get involved in getting something done. This thread is not to place blame, but to come up with solutions.

Step One: End all medical services except for emergency lifesaving care for anyone not a legal US resident unless they can pay for it in cash or are insured.
Step Two: Increase and enforce fines of $5,000.00 per each illegal employee per each day of illegal employment for a first offense. A second offense doubles the fines and adds a five year prison sentence.
Step Three: Institute an immediate 100% tariff on any money transfers between the US and Mexico from currency exchanges and the like.
Step Four: Increase the penalty for trafficing in humans to 25 years in federal prison for the first offense. A second offense carries a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
Step Five: Require that employers with more than 5 employees verify that documents presented to satisfy I-9 requirements are genuine through the SS Administration.
Institute those 5 'reforms' and we won't need to build a wall or deploy the Guard on the border. Well we may need the Guard to keep order as 11 + million illegals self deport.

If employers faced serious legal consequences for hiring illegals, they would stop and the unemployable illegals would be compelled to return home on their own.

Such a statement will be ignored. Remember, the Pres has an agenda when it comes to ONE AMERICA and the NWO. Only severe threat of POLITICAL consequences will EVER make this adminstration do anything except do everything in its power to STOP what is really needed, which is hard closure of the border, THEN getting control of the illegals in this country.
My money says it won't happen. I have written wasted emails to the WH over and over again. A total waste, especially when you listen to Frist and the other Repub puppets use every weasel word except CLOSE THE BORDER. Period.
I think that shutting down the borders is something that must be done, and if all we get is authorization and no appropriation, we haven't gotten anything.
Perhaps not specific methods, but overall goal.
Enforce the laws. Stop the flow. Protect our borders.
Do we all agree on that?
Build a fence-wall on the Mexican border and deploy our military. Employer sanctions get enforced. The Feds get their act together enough to keep computer databases on those who lawfully enter on visas. Right now we do not track them. Your credit card company knows more on your where abouts.
#1 problem is the Southern border
#2 problem is visa over stayers. I detest those schemers. They are 40% of our illegal aliens
Find the five most important Mexican Border Generals and open a bank account with say, $1 million dollars apiece.
Tell the General(s) the money is theirs at the end of the year, but there is a deduction of $1000.00 for each illegal immigrant that crosses the border in their individual sectors.
Within a few weeks the flow of illegal immigrants should just about dry up.

The President needs to earn our support on the immigration issues that face the nation.
Many conservatives are willing to deal with the illegals that are here.
But only if the criminal elements are jailed or deported and the borders are fully controlled by agents of the US government.
I pray we hear more than troops Monday night.
A comprehensive plan to enforce all our laws governing immigration and border crossings is required.
The President's people know this already.
I support whatever measures we can take at the border tostopthe flow. Then we can discuss what to do with the people who are already here.
I think we are all OK with that. The $64 question is, of course, what to do with the 11-20 million criminals in our midst?

Enforcment, no amnesty. Very simple.
Good idea. This is what I would propose.
[1] First all must register name, address, and employer plus foreign address
[2] All would be put on a list to be considered legal immigrants in the order that they registered
[3] Create retroactive number of immigrants to be allowed in
[4] those then legal given a time to become citizens
[5] those found that did not register would be deported.
[6] those electing not to become citizens would return to their homeland.
I agree. What good are new laws when the old ones are just fine but aren't enforced.
Also need to take away incentives ie: social services, medical, school. There should be no benefit to breaking OUR laws.
Tell the President, Govenors, Congress, and your reps.
Or, not.

I want our laws enforced. Not being a lawyer or an enforcer, I have no idea why that is so difficult. If the law applies to ME it should apply to THEM. I want employers forced to comply with the law, I want no freebies given to THEM, because they are SPECIAL.
I don't believe this is so difficult to figure out. It takes cojones and the will to do it with verification at high levels.

The guest worker program is a good idea.
First, we need to lose the mindset that we "NEED" them here- we do not. American workers don't want the jobs because the illegals keep the wages too low. This leads to the next suggestion: Arrest, fine and jail for those companies that hire these people. THEY are the biggest part of the problem, hiring on the cheap knowingly and exploiting the illegals.
Increase the size and function of the border patrol and fire ineffectual supervisors. Back them up with military, if necessary. Abolish the INS and re-construct it (with all new people)under the Department of Homeland Security.
Stop the popular mindset that "we simply CAN'T" deport "ALL" 11 million illegals. Yes we can. We aren't going to catch them all in one day- deport them as we catch them.
Change the law that allows illegals to stay if a pregnant woman stumbles across the border quick enough to have her child born here. Whether the child is a citizen or not- the parent are NOT and should be sent home.
Outlaw ALL welfare and routine health care benefits for illegals. Demand proof of citizenship or green card before allowing the kids in our schools. End bilingual education programs in public schools.
Lastly- The president should have a little heart-to-heart with Fox and let him know the damage we can do his economy if he doesn't start playing ball on this issue. They are pals- right? Then as a "pal", GW should tell him like it is.
One more thing...the next time we encounter federales on our side of the border, the order should be "shoot at will".
We need to remove as many as possible before Nov. elections. They are registering to vote, you know.
