What's black and white and read all over and is more self-destructive than pre-9/11 thinking?

What's black and white and read all over and is more self-destructive than pre-9/11 thinking?

by Mia T, 5.14.06

re-clinton thinking, that's what....

Putting doctrinal purity ahead of making sure a defective and dangerous clinton never again controls this country is pre-clinton thinking.

We no longer have the luxury of time or circumstance to massage our sensibilities, to indulge our indignations. We will not survive another clinton. (We may yet not survive the first one.)

This legacy confab is in and of itself proof certain of clinton's deeply flawed character, and a demonstration in real time of the way in which the clinton years were about a legacy that was incidentally a presidency.

Madeleine Albright captured the essence of this dysfunctional presidency best when she explained why clinton couldn't go after bin Laden.

According to Richard Miniter, the Albright revelation occurred at the cabinet meeting that would decide the disposition of the USS Cole bombing by al Qaeda [that is to say, that would decide to do what it had always done when a "bimbo" was not spilling the beans on the clintons: Nothing]. Only Clarke wanted to retaliate militarily for this unambiguous act of war.

Albright explained that a [sham] Mideast accord would yield [if not peace for the principals, surely] a Nobel Peace Prize for clinton. Kill or capture bin Laden and clinton could kiss the 'accord' and the Peace Prize good-bye.

If clinton liberalism, smallness, cowardice, corruption, perfidy--and, to borrow a phrase from Andrew Cuomo, clinton cluelessness--played a part, it was, in the end, the Nobel Peace Prize that produced the puerile pertinacity that enabled the clintons to shrug off terrorism's global danger.

'Can we kill 'em tomorrow?'
THE ADDRESS
THE (oops!) TRUTH

"In this interdependent world, we should still have a preference for peace over war....

But sometimes we would have these debates where people would say, if I didn't take some military action this very day, people would look down their nose at America and think we were weak.  And I always thought of Senator Fulbright.... 6

So anytime somebody said in my presence, 'Hey, if you don't do this, people will think you're weak,' I always asked the same question for eight years, 'Can we kill 'em tomorrow?'

I don't think we can bring 'em back tomorrow, but can we kill 'em tomorrow?  If we can kill them tomorrow, then we're not weak.... 1

I learned that as a 20-year-old kid watching Bill Fulbright.  Listening."

"Mr. bin Laden used to live in Sudan. He was expelled from Saudi Arabia in '91 and he went to the Sudan.

We'd been hearing that the Sudanese wanted America to start dealing with them again. They released him [bin Laden].

At the time, '96, he had committed no crime against America, so I did not bring him here because we had no basis on which to hold him, though we knew he wanted to commit crimes against America.

So I pleaded with the Saudis to take him, 'cause they could have; but they thought it was a hot potato. They didn't and that's how he wound up in Afghanistan."

Clinton Reveals on Secret Audio:
I Nixed Bin Laden Extradition Offer

"I remember exactly what happened. Bruce Lindsey said to me on the phone, 'My God, a second plane has hit the tower.' And I said, 'Bin Laden did this.' that's the first thing I said. He said, 'How can you be sure?' I said 'Because only bin Laden and the Iranians could set up the network to do this and they [the Iranians] wouldn't do it because they have a country in targets. Bin Laden did it.'

I thought that my virtual obsession 2 with him was well placed and I was full of regret that I didn't get him."

... I thank you for this award, even though, in general, I think former presidents and presidents should never get awards.  I was delighted when Jimmy Carter won the Nobel Peace Prize because I thought he earned it, and I thought it was great because he got it as much for what he did after office as when he was in office.  In general, I think that the fact that we got to be president is quite honor enough.

HEAR CLINTON! 'Can we kill 'em tomorrow?'
by Mia T, 4.24.06

LISTEN CAREFULLY TO THE AUDIO: Fulbrighters' gasps of horror follow clinton's "I always asked the same question for eight years, 'Can we kill 'em tomorrow?'  I don't think we can bring 'em back tomorrow, but can we kill 'em tomorrow?  If we can kill them tomorrow, then we're not weak...."

I suspect the horror was provoked not by the (proven) fecklessness and recklessness and rigidity and danger of the purported clinton 'terrorism policy' or even by the absurdity of the argument; I suspect the gasps of horror were in response, rather, to the Kill-Bill kind of violence (albeit "virtual") contained in bill clinton's words.

God save us from people who do the morally right thing. It's always the rest of us who get broken in half.

[T]hey're using the same divide and conquer techniques. They infiltrate our political parties and organizations. They plant disinformation bombs and sow the seeds of political discontent. They are masters in the use of propaganda and rabble rousing.

Recognize the enemy for what he is and do not allow them to use divisive issues to destroy our conservative movement. We are winning. We must not be sidetracked by an issue that will be solved in due time as we elect more conservative members to our government and continue replacing liberal activist judges with constitutionalists.

The goal is the same as it's always been. We must hold the line and advance our cause. Never willingly give ground to the liberal/socialists! Never retreat! Never surrender!

The Beast must be destroyed!--

The game has not changed, we face the same enemy, same challenges. The Beast never dies!

Lopez: If you had to bet money today…do Republicans stop her?

Podhoretz: Yes—with this caveat. If the party fails to focus on the threat from Hillary and tears itself apart from within in pursuit of doctrinal purity, then those in pursuit of purity over practical politics will hand the country to Hillary in 2008.

Lopez: In the short term: If Republicans lose big in 2006, how will it reflect on 2008? Will it be a good kick-start to the GOP or just put Dems that much ahead?

Podhoretz: Here's a very good rule of thumb in politics: Losing begets losing.

Lopez: How can blogs stop Hillary? Could the left-wing blogosphere wind up a thorn in her side?

Podhoretz: Blogs can and should keep the pressure on Hillary to speak, speak, speak. She prefers to remain silent for the most part, because that way she can limit any damage her words might cause. I offer some very practical tips for bloggers in the book....

Lopez: What’s your most important piece of advice on stopping Hillary?

Podhoretz: Conservatives must avoid the siren song of schism, or all is lost.

(WHY THE RELIGIOUS RIGHT MUST MOBILIZE AGAINST HILLARY:

by Mia T, 03.16.06

I am not arguing that you change your deeply held convictions. To the contrary.

Your convictions--the evangelical ethos-- is precisely my premise, my starting point. It is precisely why I cannot envision how you would doing anything to help elect hillary clinton, someone who is anathema to all you believe.

But that is exactly what you would be doing if, in the next presidential election, you stay home or vote for a 'Perot.' You don't have to physically pull the lever or mark the box or touch the square next to the name 'hillary clinton' to help elect her. To think otherwise is to play with your mind.

It is tempting to rationalize this issue... even to ignore it. It's a difficult issue. It's a dilemma. But rationalizing the issue won't make your actions morally right... and ignoring the issue won't make it go away.

The clintons equate the Religious Right with the islamo-fascist terrorists, with the enemy. They are attempting to transfer onto the Religious Right the hate and fear and disgust Americans feel for the islamo-fascist terrorists. To disseminate their vile invective, the clintons chose a church for the venue and what the they believe to be a vulnerable, easily demagogued population for the audience. (A population they've exploited forever.)

The purpose of this article is to inform you of the clintons' contemptible and dangerous scheme. To let you hear clinton for yourself.

It is critical that you know fully what the clintons think of you and to what extremes they are willing to go to harm you, to defeat you, to crush you.

You must not ignore or rationalize away this threat to your existence. As a Jew, I tend to be vigilant about such threats. I implore you to do likewise. You must not make the same mistake my brethren made almost seven decades ago.

OK Mia. So in the words of the immortal Benjamin Franklin “We must all hang together, or assuredly we shall all hang separately.” Got it. Keep Hitlery out of the White House and Bill out of the UN. Check.

What then? What is the platform which will get us there Mia? This is basic stuff. We better be ready to play at the next level because the ballot stuffers at the DNC are going to be working overtime. What do we stand for?

In as much as I have posed a question, I would like to suggest an answer. Here are my suggestions for our agenda, our Contract with America - Part II...

1) Win the war on the islamofascists.
2) Confirm judges who will interpret the law, not legislate.
3) Cut income taxes permanently by enacting a flat tax on incomes.
4) Spend less than the Federal government takes in.
5) Secure our borders, and send illegal immigrants packing.
6) Replace Social Security with private retirement savings.
7) Return legislative decisions on abortion to the states.
8) Add your suggestions here...

"Conservatives" must not split the party? It takes two sides to have a difference of opinion. Either side could relent and the split would be healed.

Why must the conservative branch of the party give up? Why can't the RINOs concede from their side? We would have the same result, i.e., a unified party.

Don't we at least have to agree on the principles driving the issues? And much more than that -- since "agreement on principle" can be nothing more than convenient rhetoric -- don't we have to agree on the PRACTICES that arise from those principles? Don't conservatives have a right to expect that the people they support ACT on the principles they mouth?

#1 above all else.
IMO, our platform must emphasize goals and competence and character, not ideology.

We must document the clintons' and the Left's utter failure to protect this country and we must tie it into their lack of competence and character. The voters must be made to understand what is at stake.

Not sure I agree about the ideological component. Ronald Reagan was not an ideologue per se, but he did have a well thought out ideology - i.e. a vision which he could articulate. The average joe can tell that neither party has a lock on the character issue - hopefully we can say truthfully that the difference between Republicans and DemocRATs is that we Republicans prosecute criminals, unlike the DemocRATs who coddle theirs. We certainly cannot say (truthfully) that all Republicans of perfect character. With respect to competance, yes, it is required, unfortunately, its not enough. Hitler made the trains run on time.

You'll need more than a bath if your moral purity results in clinton: the sequel.

I'm just wondering, what's the alternative to "moral purity"? Moral compromise? Moral corruption? Moral decay? Amorality? Do we "win" if we become the very objects we despise? If we're forced, through our fears, to embrace the very principles whose opposition defines us?

The message being sent to the Republicans is that they are not conservative enough. The LAST strategy they should adopt is the liberalization of their platform. If they don't run a conservative this time, I'll stay home. I won't actively participate in a fraud of that magnitude. And if we go down, at least I go down with my conscience clean.

It's the choice I've made. It's the choice I've been FORCED to make.

Of course ideology undergirds policy, but we mustn't hammer it over the voter's head. Not after 8 years of vile leftist demagoguery equating the right with the Islamofascist terrorists. (See post 7.)

Of course, no one is perfect. But there is a difference in magnitude and kind between normal human flaws and clinton corruption.

We mustn't talk in generalities. We must focus on THE CLINTONS' lack of character and competence and how that led, inexorably to 9/11.

Mia, Jimmy Carter's failure to declare war on Iran after our embassy was attacked was the actual cause of 9/11 (IMO). Ronnie's failure to attack Hezbollah (an Iranian proxy) after our Marines were killed in Lebanon was another failure. Clinton was only the latest of several US Presidents who didn't do what needed to be done in the Middle East. Iran is exerting influence on the countries around it because the US is not keeping Iran in check. Islamic imperialism is what we are fighting.

Blaming 9/11 on Clinton is a stretch. There are PLENTY of other, more germane reasons not to want Hitlery in the White House. But we STILL need to have a positive agenda which gives Americans a reason to vote FOR us, not just against the wicked witch of of New York, or Arkansas, or wherever.

Gotta go make breakfast for the kids. One final thought. What should we Republicans be doing to DESERVE to win the next election? Right now, larding up spending bills and paying lip service to the "War on Terror" seems to be about all we can muster. Not enough to earn us the job of governing (my 2 cents)...

Blaming 9/11 on Clinton is a stretch. --RKV

Tell that to Richard Mininter. Or, for that matter, tell it to Madeleine Albright. The terrorists declared war on American during the clintons' watch. The terrorists attacked America during the clintons' watch. And the clintons did nothing. And the clinton failure was premeditated. Willful. Self-serving (or so they thought).

In my view, we can knock hillary out with a rape - terrorism one-two punch.

(The only real swing voter is the white woman. Missus clinton must get the white woman to win. But alas, the white woman, post-9/11, has turned red.)

Ditto bump to all of your comments, IronJack.

Contrary to your conclusion Mia, I would argue that we CAN survive another Democrat or another Clinton because they will galvanize us against a known and common enemy, but we cannot survive the rot that comes from a liberal or 'compassionate' Republican.

Too many of us were so glad to be rid of Clinton that they stopped paying attention to what the Republicans, including Bush, are doing to us. Some even give their blessing to things that Bush has done that would have caused us to take to the streets with pitchforks had Clinton done the same thing.

Think HillaryCare is dead? We are getting it piecemeal under Bush, starting with the greedy geezer drug bill. Bush signed MF - CFR. Would that have happened under Clinton or would we have fought tooth and nail against it?

The Kennedy Education bill is another outrageous example of giving away the store. There are others.

How do we advance our causes and values by arguing that we must accept what we hate to avoid what we despise?

Our problem is more than just 8 years of Clinton and goes back much further than that. Just as rotary phones and party lines are relics of a bygone era, the notion that we, and not the government, are responsible for ourselves is becoming antiquated and the GOP is, in large part, responsible.

Afraid of the 'third rail' Republicans are loathe to do anything but defend SS and other 'entitlements'. They care more about keeping their job than doing what's right.

Twice ruled to be unconstitutional, the Income Tax finally got its blessing 90 some years ago. First they set in motion the idea that government has a claim on the fruits of your labor. Then 30 years later, they established their claim to your money preemptively. The GOP used to fight against it, but now, even so called conservatives, embrace it as the normal course to fund government.

Abortion used to be whispered about just 40 years ago and was rare. Now that we've allowed the murder of 40 million babies, even Republicans think that it's okay and even encourage it.

My point is that the longer we accept these things and the longer we put our blessing on them, the sooner it will be when there will be no memory of when we cherished our liberty, treasured our soon to be born, and relied upon ourselves and family instead of the largesse from an oversized, super powerful government which will take from us what it needs to give us what they tell us we want. It's voting buying with funds from the public treasury and the GOP is as guilty now as the Dems now that we have 'compassion' as our official mantra.

No, Mia T, while I admire your efforts and your passion I cannot agree with your conclusion. We cannot cede our values any more in bits and pieces if we hope them to survive at all.

IronJack is right. We cannot accept a RINO as our nominee. It goes against our grain to vote against our values. We will fight to the death for our values but we will not commit suicide. We will all die. How we die is more important than if or when we do.

You are confusing two issues.

The first issue is policy. As long as DC is run by the professional pol, we will have policy that serves... surprise... the professional pol. It doesn't matter if that pol is a Democrat or a Republican or a Bull Moose. You are deluding yourself if you think otherwise. The answer is to begin fielding citizen-politicians. Like the Founders envisioned.

The second issue is the '08 election. (The '06 election will set the stage and is, therefore, almost as critical.) It is self-evident that a Democrat--and especially a clinton--would be fatal for America. Now is not the time for us to indulge our indignations.

Is it really asking too much to wait until we dispense with the clintons?

Empirical evidence that there exists not one professional pol irrespective of political party or political philosophy who is not self-serving:

Enjoy becoming a Democrat, then.

No thanks. I'll take Chaucer's advice and "flee from the crowd to dwell with truthfulness."

We cannot accept a RINO as our nominee.

Sadly, only SOME of us can't.

It goes against our grain to vote against our values.

That's because you haven't embraced the spirit of Compromise. You know, the same sort of compromise that served Neville Chamberlain and Vidkun Quisling so well.

We will fight to the death for our values but we will not commit suicide.

Well said.

We will all die. How we die is more important than if or when we do.

And as important is how we LIVE. As a political variable? Or as a stern, uncompromising bastion of principle, who never, ever, under ANY circumstances justifies the abandonment of the ideal for the immediate.

I will not make deals with my ideological enemies, no matter their stripe.

Okay,"iron"Jacko, here's some truth your can continue running from, nothing is perfect, not even your idealogical purity. You sound like a spoiled brat , as many here are sounding. Glad you enjoyed Chaucer, I'd say he's probably not enjoy you. Have fun with your sack mates at Stormfront.

I am confusing nothing, but perhaps you are.

You say that we need to rid ourselves of professional pols and I agree. But then you tell us to wait another 4 years to do it and in the meantime that we should reelect the currect, self serving SOBs.

I am not even convinced that she who will not be named will get the nomination, let alone win. Therefore, the pros pose a more immediate threat.

The candidates that I support already know that they serve based on their good behavior and that someday, even with said good behavior they will need to go home.

Even people on this board encourage the professional pol. They go beyond respecting them to darn near worshipping them. The message needs to be repeated often that they are our employees, not our masters.

Again, we agree on a lot of things, just not the conclusions that you came to.

Agreed.

And I notice in post #43 that you are winning the argument because the poster has resorted to name calling to try to debase you and the argument.

I remember a better day here when the argument was heated, but based on facts and documentation and principle not vitriolic personal attacks.*

I do think that it was only one day, to be honest. LOL

I am not aware of citizen-politicians in any significant numbers currently on the ballot. We must therefore choose between bad and worse.

The smarter move, IMO, is to vote for the person who more closely mirrors one's positions and work to field people of ability and courage from the real world with real-life experience. This type of change cannot happen overnight.

I think he was referring there to Carter, not the wife. He's trying to become a Carteresque ex-prez in order to snare the Nobel Peace Prize.

Next thing we know, he'll be picking up a hammer and nails (even as she picks up a hammer and sickle.) ;)

You can choose between bad and worse. I've seen that plan used for 40 years and look where we ended up.

No thanks. I will vote only for people with demonstrated integrity and principle. My vote is valuable and I will not spend it on worthless pols of any stripe and no matter the cry of necessity or claim of emergency. Those are the cries of the self serving and power hungry in their desperation to hold power.
