Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

The majority support severely restricting abortion along the lines of the "only in cases of rape, incest, and life of the mother" exceptions.

I would agree. And after Roe is overturned I think laws restricting abortion to those circumstances would easily pass in nearly all states.

To pass a law banning abortion even in the case of rape or incest (which is what I think most pro-lifers want) would be a lot tougher, and yes, hearts and minds do come into play in that case.

Not at all. I was just pointing out your signup number at WA. IIRC, that was 6-7 days ago.

If you want your account closed, why are you still here? Tuck your tail and go.

Good grief.

Pinging is one thing, posting is another. In the post I commented on you didn’t mention pinging. I don’t think that you can tell someone not to post a comment in reply to one of your comments. You also can’t stop someone from pinging you to a thread when they are talking about your post to another poster because people are expected to do that whether you want to be pinged or not.

I would consider it harrassment if someone was continually pinging you to theads that you haven’t posted in and where no one is talking about you, though.

If he issued such an EO after taking office and without prior notice, I think we could see a shattering of our federal system.

I see zero probably in a constitutional crisis arising under those circumstances.

After all, the courts use the Constitution as a threadbare dishrag every day to suit their purposes, and we sit idly by.

Why should anyone revolt when the executive branch finally stands its ground?

The Supreme Court is the one standing on tenuous ground here. And they know it.

Well said. Thanks, Elyse.

This maybe the most wide open thread I’ve seen in my 8-1/2 years lurking and posting on FR. Obviously Chena has a problem defending her own words when challenged.

It might be Sunday Ms. Marple, but this ain't Sunday school, this is the Bug Zapper(c) thread, and when trolls get zapped, they are fair game and we celebrate.

WE don't celebrate. A handful of misguided FReepers celebrate. Chasing away long-time posters isn't a reason to celebrate. It is a reason to mourn.

FReepers who feel the need to egg on, intimidate, name-call or otherwise be uncivil to other FReepers should remember what ultimately happened to Robespierre.

I appreciate your concern, Elyse. If it will make you feel better, I won’t tell anyone ever again not to post to me even if they are rude, obnoxious liars. :)

What a drama queen. No one has lost their head literally, though your newly antifreeper friends sure have lost theirs figuratively.

Where were you when the dearly departed were intimidating, namecalling and being infinitely uncivil for the last few years?
