Will FR embrace socialism to make way for Rudy Giuliani as a Republican presidential candidate?
vanity | April 21, 2007 | Jim Robinson

Posted on 04/21/2007 6:42:25 PM PDT by Jim Robinson

We've got some real challenges facing us. FR was established to fight against government corruption, overstepping, and abuse and to fight for a return to the limited constitutional government as envisioned and set forth by our founding fathers in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution and other founding documents.

One of the biggest cases of government corruption, overstepping and abuse that I know of is its disgraceful headlong slide into a socialist hell. Our founders never intended for abortion to be the law of the land. And they never intended the Supreme Court to be a legislative body. They never intended God or religion to be written out of public life. They never intended government to be used to deny God's existence or for government to be used to force sexual perversions onto our society or into our children's education curriculum. They never intend for government to disarm the people. They never intended for government to set up sanctuary cities for illegals. They never intended government to “rule” over the people and or to take their earnings or private property or to deprive them of their constitutional rights to free speech, free religion, private property, due process, etc. They never intended government to seize the private property of private citizens through draconian asset forfeiture laws or laws allowing government to take private property from lawful owners to give to developers. Or to seize wealth and redistribute it to others. Or to provide government forced health insurance or government forced retirement systems.

All of the above are examples of ever expanding socialism and tyranny brought to us by liberals/liberalism.

FR fights against the liberals/Democrats in all of these areas and always will. Now if liberalism infiltrates into the Republican party and Republicans start promoting all this socialist garbage, do you think that I or FR will suddenly stop fighting against it? Do you think I'm going to bow down and accept abortionism, feminism, homosexualism, global warming, illegal alien lawbreakers, gun control, asset forfeiture, socialism, tyranny, totalitarianism, etc, etc, etc, just so some fancy New York liberal lawyer can become president from the Republican party?

Do you really expect me to do that?

California voted Republican every presidential election between 1948 and 1992, excepting one, in 1964. It was no liberal bastion when Reagan was governor.

The state threw three liberal supreme court justices off the CSC as recently as the 1980’s. Jerry Brown was an aberration. Reagan, George Deukmajian, and Pete Wilson were the norm. California was born as a liberal nutland in 1992, when they voted for Clinton.

Go Mitt!!!!

People don’t trust Mitt Romney to be what he now says he is.

If he wins, I suspect people here will pray that Romney is what he said he is, and not something else. They will hope Mitt lives up to the principles he has expressed as his current philosophy.

If Rudy wins, we will all pray that he will act in opposition to his principles and history. I hate having to pray that people will not be true to themselves.

Worse, I might have to actually picket a republican in the white house that I just voted for. There is something very bizarre about asking me to vote for a person I will immediately oppose on every turn.

There is one of the big problems of the Republican party as it stands now. Craven caving in to political correctness, while the dims get a free pass. “Compassionate conservatism”
Did not every conservative wince when they heard that one/”

Not when I heard it...I thought he was appealing to the middle and it was good politics.....I cringed when he implemented it.

Will FR embrace Hillary instead, removing any chance of getting another conservative on the court?

there WILL be a third party candidate! Count on it!

“You people just get lower and lower.”

Exactly. Hmmm, and what ideology is it that will stop at nothing to win?

Then I guess the Republican party isn’t conservative because Rudy is the clear frontrunner nationally among Republicans.

And I’ve already stated my posts about Reagan and that you are so sweetly sensitive about the former president doesn’t surprise anyone around here.

As I mentioned, since you’re a poster who rarely has a good word to say about any republican, I’m not terribly worried about what you have to say about me.

What did you try? Peach is complaining that minority opinions (and opinion makers) are being banished from the site. The truth is she is being allowed to continue to make provocative statements with impunity.

I am just noting the irony...

“If those were the most important conservatives, why didn’t Newt’s Contract with America mention one single sentence about abortion or guns?”

Weren’t you going to bed about an hour ago?

Anyway, if you remember, one of the things that swept the republicans into power in 1994 was that the assault weapons ban was passed just months before the election. Even clinton admits that.

Free Republic has melted down many times.

And is now irrelevant

And died to never be heard from again.

The predictions of it's demise are legion.

And all the good posters have been banned or left. (and they are now on other sites MUCH better than FR)

All Rudy supporters are being banned.

Just some of the things that have been said recently and over the years.

It’s a smelter. The dross rises to the top and is skimmed off.

To tell the truth, if it’s Rudy vs Hillary, I may well vote for a 3rd party and pray that Rudy wins anyway.

If the Rudy supporters are correct, they won’t need my vote so I’ll be free to vote my conscience.

If they are wrong, they’ll look like fools.

The gun owners were enraged in 1994. The NRA wiped the floor with liberals. The Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban were huge issues, as was Hillary’s health care grab. Clinton told the Washington Times afterward, “We overreached.”

The CWC was part of the electoral victory, but not all of it.

If Hillary becomes president because Rudy Giuliani is the Republican nominee, it will be the liberal Republicans’ fault for not nominating someone who motivates the conservative base.

What a liberal mindset - always someone else's fault.
