Police stress that the prints are just to make sure you are who you claim to be and do not go into any kind of database; they simply stay on the ticket for future reference if the identity is challenged.
Yeah...right. Just like the request "Do you mind if I search your car?" Yes, I do mind if you search my car. You're going to need a warrant for that search.
Fingerprints? You're going to have to file misdemeanor charges against me for fingerprints.
I would like for you to meet my attorney, and we are suing you for wrongful prosectution.

You’re kidding, right? None of these “programs” are meant to do a damn thing about illegals. They’re meant to screw with citizens. The government know who the illegals are and where they are. They just don’t want to do anything about it except raise your taxes to translate every document under the sun into Spanish - for illegals who are illiterate even in their native tongue.

How difficult would it be to pull the ticket and check a fingerprint?

"On the other hand, I'm like everybody else. When a police officer tells me to do something, I'm going to do it whether I have the right to say no or not." These days, saying 'no' might get you tased. Regardless, it seems to me that this fingerprinting scheme is a clear violation of both the 4th and 5th Amendments.

I got my SS card in the late 50s. In clear white letters on a blue was the legend “NOT FOR INDENTIFICATION”.

You’re absolutely entitled to your opinion. And free to go along with whatever nonsense various government and police agencies come up with which only make the lives of citizens more difficult and do nothing about the problem.

Just from personal experience it’s been long standing policy where I work to get a right index finger print on criminal (misdemeanor) citations in the event identification by the violator cannot be provided. Normally I would just book someone I can’t identify properly but some weekend bookings are back on the street before the ink on the report is dry. For non criminal traffic offenses, or infractions, this should never be done as policy. Anyway, personally I’ve had a few folks lying about their names get caught with the print and more than a few came clean with me because of it too. What happens is someone will use a family members name and when the summons shows up in the mail for the wrong person the print can be referred to and the wrongfully accused can clear the violation. If someone doesn’t like giving up a print, or sometimes getting a break, I’m fine with other options

Why do you say that?
Can you prove it to be wrong?
I do not think that it is stupid at all.

I guess it depends on whom you view as more tyrannical, LE or Anti LE?

They took my footprint when I was born, and my mother’s fingerprint. Both without permission.
