The New “A List” –If Conservatives Stay Home
Political Mavens ^ | 2/7/08 | Arnold Ahlert

Posted on 02/08/2008 5:32:09 AM PST by pookie18

Since many conservatives say they won’t vote for John McCain, and some say they’ll even vote for Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, it might be worth looking at some of the people whose power and influence will be far more potent as a result of such pettiness. To wit:

–George Soros. A multi-billionaire with megalomaniacal ambitions. Financier of some of the most virulent lunatic-left organizations in the country. Just revealed as the chief funder of a recently debunked “study” by the British medical journal, Lancet, which claimed 650,000 Iraqis had been killed as a result of the war–ten times the actual number.

–MoveOn.Org. Do you like it when George W. Bush, a wartime American president, is hated more than the Islamic terrorists who perpetrated 9/11? How about when Gen. David Petraeus, leader of the turn-around in Iraq and man who has dedicated his life to the country is called “General Betrayus?”

–Michael Moore. Propagandist film maker, dedicated socialist. Mr. Moore has called Americans the “stupidest people on the planet.” Believes communist Cuba has a better health care system than our own. Given a seat of honor next to Jimmy Carter at the 2004 Democratic convention.

–Jimmy Carter. Worst president of the modern era. Never misses a chance to bash America, especially when traveling abroad. Says Israel is an “apartheid” state. Why? For having the “gall” to defend itself from ongoing Palestinian terror.

–The mainstream media. Already leaning left, already “massaging” any info that accrues to the benefit of conservatives. A Democratic Congressional majority coupled with a Democratic administration might be more than willing to re-visit the “Fairness Doctrine”–tipping the scales even further leftward.

–Hollywood celebrities. A deadly combination of brain-dead, America-hating, Hugo Chavez, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad-loving socialists. Sean Penn? Danny Glover? Barbara Streisand? Susan Sarandon? The list is endless–and gag-inducing.

–Academia. Other than Hollywood celebrities, no one embraces a dimmer view of American values and traditions than the “ivory tower intellectuals” who poison the minds of our youth.

–Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. A resurgence for the two race hustlers whose livelihoods depend on maintaining the black “victim of racist society” myth while shaking down guilty white liberals who head major corporations. With a Dem majority in Congress and an Obama or Clinton administration, bet the farm that “reparations for slavery” hits the front burner.

–Anti-war protesters/appeasers. Despite all evidence to the contrary, there are those who believe Islamic terror is an “exaggerated threat,” and that “nothing is worth fighting for.” 9/11? America’s fault. Atomic Iran? No big deal. Reactive better than proactive? Better an American city under a nuclear halo than continuing the fight against “peace-loving” Muslims abroad. One more domestic attack away from irrelevancy–but who gets to “take one for the team”–first?

–Conspiracy theorists. The Bush administration blew up the World Trade Center, the war in the Middle East is only about oil, Haliburton, et al, controls the world. ‘Nuff said.

–Enviro-whack-jobs. We don’t drill for domestic oil now, despite funding both sides of the terror war. Our economy is already shaky without global warming “mandates.” We’ve already lost incandescent light bulbs. That’s just the tip of liberal-inspired, environmental tsunami which would hamstring our economy for decades.

Supreme Court Justice “X.” Or maybe Justices “X,” “Y,” and “Z,” all of whom believe the Constitution is a “living document” to be “interpreted” as a means of securing “social justice.” Presidents come and go in four or eight years. A Supreme Court appointment is for life.

This is only a partial list. But it ought temper the “hate-McCain,” “stay home on election day,” “my principles or nothing” conservatives who are willing to bite the bullet and let the liberals take over. There are far worse things than a flawed candidate. The empowerment of the above would be a paradigm shift away from virtually everything that has made this country stand above all the rest.

Are conservatives genuinely ready–with spite as their primary motivation, no less–for THAT?

“Pettiness?” That could only be said by someone who puts party above country and assumes that is the path to truth.

Isn’t non stop bashing of McCain more important than everything mentioned in the article?

Already the preservers of the status quo are trying to ram this RINO down our throats. If you are trying to scare us with left-wing boogeymen you should instead stop and think about how those people gained power and influence in the first place. Hint: try the mirror.

And this list is different from the other “A” list how?

But I still intend to vote “R”

I knew too many guys who died defending America’s freedoms and I’m not going to pee on their graves.

BTW, thanks for the political cartoons every morning. You make my day.

I will vote for McCain just to prevent Hillobama. It’s not “scare”, it’S the sad reality that we can’t accept a dem presidency. I have no love lost for McCain, but he is the lesser evil. At least he is anti-abortion and has a better foreign policy than Hillobama. By supporting real conservatives for Congress we can counterbalance McCain on the many issues were he is wrong.

The author doesn't get it. We're staying home because we're hoping these people will come to the forefront. The more extreme the better.

After 8 years of Hillary, the country will be begging for a conservative. Maybe 4 years if they're really goofy.

You bet yer bippie! Those people won’t evaporate into thin air if we coronate Juan McCain, they will simply do their dirty work with his help. It is not spite that drives us and if you humps can’t see that then we were never truly on the same side.

This is our reality. Through our apathy, we’ve brought it upon ourselves. And, as always, I’ll NEVER vote for a Democrat. Here’s a good argument as to why:

Here’s all any Conservative needs to know about Barrack Hussein Obama:

Special Interest Group Ratings:

Planned Parenthood - 100% Support
National Right To Life - 0% Support
NARAL - 100% Support
Americans for Tax Reform - 0% Support
ACLU - 83% Support
NEA - 100% Support
NOW Hags - 100% Support
Citizens Against Government Waste - 13% Support
Gun Owners of America - 0% Support
NRA - “F” Rating
Federation for American Immigration Reform - 0% Support
US Border Patrol - 8% Support
Unions - 82% - 100% Support
Population Connection - 100% Support (These are the ‘Zero Growth’ freaks)

http://vote-smart.org/issue_rating_category.php?can_id=BS030017

[Barrack Hussein Obama’s record in the Illinois senate:]

- Opposed the Defense of Marriage Act; would work to repeal it in the U.S. Senate; would not vote for any legislation that would restrict the ability of gays and lesbians to marry.
- Opposed the Born Alive Infant Protection Act four times in Illinois. A similar bill passed the U.S. Senate 98-0. The Born Alive bill would have prohibited a baby from being born alive but left to die according to the mother’s wishes. Obama inexplicably opposed this bill not once, twice, or three times, but four times.
- Obama took almost $90,000 in bundled contributions from the Council for a Livable World. The council is a well-known anti-defense organization.
- Obama puts rigid ideology before what’s best for the people of Illinois, and presumably he would do that as President as well. He has on several occasions made public his opposition to the NAFTA trade agreement and his belief that it must be negotiated. All the while thanks to NAFTA, Illinois exports $1.3 billion in agricultural goods to Canada.
- Obama refused to vote for a bill in the Illinois State Senate that would have increased penalties for drug traffickers.
- Obama voted against a bill that would have delivered the death penalty to gang members who murder first responders.
- Finally, just in case you thought it couldn’t get any worse, Obama was the only member of the Illinois State Senate to vote against a bill that prohibited early release for sexual predators.

Can’t kill the innocent fast enough, can’t free the guilty soon enough!

Sigh....

GWB took our lightbulbs and expanded the ethanol debacle.

Hill, obam, and Mclame will all continue the green march to socialism.

Algore was right.
Globalwarming is the biggest threat to the world.
(Just not in the way HE meant).

Islam will be an afterthought.
Regardless.

It is a shame that the only coherent (albeit unpersuasive) argument to vote for McCain is based upon what he isn’t.

No mention of George Soros funding of McCain’s PAC run by Juan Hernandez

The GOP liberals will do anything to justify voting for McCain. Real conservatives arent buying it

I am already tired of the liberal justifications for voting for McCain. All these things this author mention....McCain will side w the Dems anyway

"Drink RINO arsenic Koolaid--It'll kill you more slowly than 'Rat Cyanide Koolaid!"

Great campaign slogan!

Don't listen to McCain's promises of the moment: observe his actions.

This is the man John McCain chose to be his "Hispanic Outreach Director." Hernandez is a verified traitor. Born in Dallas he decided as an adult to become a dual-national Mexican citizen. His last job was serving as Mexican President Vicente Fox's "American Reconquista Director."

Hernandez believes all Mexicans and Mexican-Americans in the USA should become dual citizens and consider themselves Mexicans first, "to the 8th generation."

The "New American Pioneers" proclaimed in his book are the illegal alien invaders he urges to become settlers in the USA.

And this is the man McCain chose for his "Hispanic Outreach Director." In the past week he was asked about this choice, and he said he chose Hernandez because he agrees with his positions.

Yet out of the other side of his mouth he says "He has heard us" and he will "Secure the border first."

Juan Shamnesty McCain is precisely a treacherous liar.

When you lose control of the executive branch, you lose a lot more than just the presidency, you lose power and influence in Washington at many, many levels. This is a very astute article for all those people who cannot seem to understand the way our political system actually works. I voted for Mitt Romney in CA, and I have been angry enough at McCain over the past 8 years, but he is our guy now, and losing the office to the Socialist Party is not an option. If the Socialist Party controls congress, it is even more important that we can hold the executive.
