Do the Dave Ramsey routine. Pay off debt, build up an emergency fund, pay off the house.

My own thoughts are that the US is no longer a viable country and will need to be split up within the next fifteen years or thereabouts. Democracy is a good system for governing a fairly homogeneous group of people with shared ideals and values; it is NOT a reasonable system for sharing power between two or more groups with nothing in common at all who basically just hate eachother. When that happens, which is what we have now, than democracy is reduced to a contest to see who can be better at gaming the system. The thing we want to be sure of when D-Day (Divorce Day) arrives, is that the country is split up by county and not by state.

I was asking if Sundown at Coffin Rock, The Sequel was science fiction or modern fiction.
I found a excerpt on line later, so you can disregard the question.
I write science fiction and horror, sometimes along the same lines as Sundown at Coffin Rock, though not quite so rural a setting for my stories.

Stay as poor as possible. For heaven sakes, don’t try to get rich or better yourself. By keeping yourself poor, you will not only stay safely below the radar from gov’t oppression, you will get free perks and benefits from the gov’t, as you will have achieved victim status, no wealth, but better yet, victim status. You will be on the high priority list for handouts. You will be beloved as long as you don’t get an uppity attitude, unless it is to squawk about the rich.

From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;

The final stage of the cycle is the fall back into bandage. Thomas Jefferson provided the perfect warning with this statement, “A government big enough to give you anything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.”

>When the county sheriffs round up the guns for security reasons it will be time to move on.<
It won’t be the county sheriffs rounding up the guns. It’ll be UN troops. How many LEO’s is there in your county per 100,000 people? Five, ten, fifteen, a hundred? Would you fight 1000 to 1 odds? Cops aren’t that stupid.
If the local cops ever decided to go against the people, they wouldn’t have a home when their shift ended. Maybe not a family either if shooting were occurring.
