I’m reminded of Mel Gibson as William Wallace: “They can take our lives, but they can never take our freedom”.

Yeah he is probbly biased (South Ossentian relatives). But that was a pretty damning interview from an American citizen in the region.

Why aren’t we helping these guys? Are we just going to let the Russians run over a democratic ally, that we were pushing to get into NATO? This is Hungary all over again.

Bein a longtime Bushbot, I frankly say (no yell) that Mr President should come home at once! While the Democrats strangle us on energy and Russia destroys a sovereign nation allied with us, Bush is smiling in Beijing. No “Iron man suit”. No he should dump the sweaty sport shirt for his business suit and come back to DC!

Russia and Georgia both knew this was going to happen when KosovO started pushing for independence. We now know how Russia must have felt back in 1999 when NATO started bombing Serbia.

It is not over a pipeline or oil.  Georgia is a transport hub that Russia and Kazakhstan is using to bypass Iran.  No pipeline or planned pipeline travels through South Ossetia.  Look at these maps from the EIA.  No threat to the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan pipeline.

Russia media is presenting this just like we did in Kosovo.  Russian video news in English.

Timeline: Conflict between Georgia and South Ossetia

How soon before independence for Transnistria, Nagorno-Karabakh and Abkhazia?

Acerbic begger ain't he? I am talking about the BBC man. The rasp in his use of the address using the word sir. We from that country know all about the use of intonation. Damn that man's multi-culti hide.

I had used Wikipedia to gain a closer look at the flag and coat of arms of the Republic of Georgia. The flag is the great red cross on a white background interspersed with small red crosses. The coat of arms shows St George killing the dragon.

Christian country and 88% of the people.

For it was in Shakespeare's Henry V, that the cry was "For England,Harry and St George". The emblems that many Englishmen can no longer use without accusations or bigotry and racism.

Very soon for Abkhazia. Both South Ossetia and Abkhazia have basically established autonomous rule since the 90’s. It is absolutely pointless to support any further Georgian claim over South Ossetia. 98-99% of the people there support complete independence from Georgia and most of the population is ethnically Russian. In the 90’s in Abkhazia the Georgian army got its %ss whipped the last time it tried to put down the Abkhazian independence claim. Welcome to the backside of the new world order though as we saw in the former Yugoslavia. Now instead of the Nato/US/EU supporting unilateral declarations of independence from a sovereign country it is Russia. I guess the West is now beginnning to reap the whirlwind.

Yeah, what the heck? This is a SERIOUS crisis. An independent nation being taken over by another. And this is not just any country doing the taking over. We are seeing the rise of the USSR. Anybody read Joel Rosenberg's “Epicenter”? And we think that we have an oil crisis now?? This all about the Russian acquisition of the world's oil supply. Georgia was supplying tons of oil to Western Europe. Well that is about to change. Europe is about to get screwed as they will be at the mercy of a GIANT nuclear power for their oil “addiction”.
