I understand there is a new anti-freeper site started by disgruntled former and present Mormon FReepers and it is their intention of bankrupting FR during the coming Freepathon by withholding their donations and disrupting our activities. Well, all I can say is, if they feel that badly against FR, by all means they should withhold their donations and drop out of FR. But it they attempt to disrupt our operations I will guarantee they will no longer be members of FR. If that is their wish, so be it.
I'm not going to try to defend FR from their claims of religious persecution, but I will say that Mormons have and always have had free reign to post their threads on FR just as all other religious groups have enjoyed. Free Republic defends the right to freedom of religion and has always welcomed religious discussion and always will. And Mormons have always been welcome here. I have absolutely nothing against Mormons.
If you are one who has left or is leaving, I wish you well, but disruption of FR is not welcome and will not be tolerated.
And this is not the first time such activity has been attempted by groups of disgruntled former FReepers. Good luck with that. There is always some group that feels FR should be bent to their way of thinking and end up saying my way or the highway. Well, I don't know about you, but I'm not changing so I guess it's the highway. Is it Feb 8 yet?

No more than the facts would support FR being anti-Mormon.
Unless I missed something that’s probably one person with too much time on their hands and simply trying to drive LDS conservatives away from FR.
Whoever the site owner is should really just stay out of any mormon threads (for or against) and go back and read the late LDS President Ezra Taft Benson’s speeches and essays. FR is pretty much the ONLY internet site that agrees with Benson on most issues, though Benson passed away in ‘94.
I disagee, I would say tha a huge majority aren't posted for that reason. The LDS Devotional and Caucus threads are posted in the Religion Forum. Ignore them if they bother you.
I'm ping RM because he is much more familiar with these threads than I am.

As one of those “anti’s” on this list, lets review what greg west of SPAM was trying to accomplish.
1) He was pimping his blog site for ‘fresh meat’ to throw into his ‘fair’ debates.
The commentary on his blog site would wilt most plants in what could be called hate speech directed towards Christians.
2) He was deliberately trolling and insulting Freepers, then running to his little blog to pound his chest.
3) Finally, he openly admitted he left FR before because it would not bend over backwards for Mitt, so he came in with a chip on his shoulder to begin with.
The Religion Moderators do a good job at not letting things get out of hand. Readers will see that on these threads - started by mormon and non-mormon alike - a volume of documented materials - not just unsubstantiated claims. Mormons challenge my doctrine and I don’t go whinning off and start a blog, but defend those beliefs. If they can’t handle that they should read other threads.
I know of many good Mormon Christians in here. Some have done much and are patriots in stand up for this nations freedoms and rights of all. I also understand enough to know the Mormon Church holds some core moral values that many other churches would be wise to do likewise. One is centered on family. The very thing that is destroying our nation is the destruction of the family. Second is their missionary work including domestic and I know of only one church with as large a ministry as they have. In that respect the Roman Catholic Church is likely first because of medical care etc. I can appreciate their work as well.
I'll defend any Christians right to worship as they are led and see fit. It is not my duty to judge them. The infighting between the churches is childish and some in all including the one I was raised in need to grow up and worry more about their own.
I have family from all churches from a Roman Catholic Priest closest to his Bishop, to Baptist Ministers, to Mormons, and others. Guess what? We all get along because we know we all serve the same LORD and Savior.

FWIW, a Google search reveals a “greg west melfa va” who posted repeatedly in support of Mitt Romney in various sites, locations, whatever.
I’m thinking this grudge has little to do with religion, and everything to do with a disgrunteled spammer for Romney.
