Unlike Romney's "National Council for a New America," Free Republic is a conservative site!

I'm going to try one more time to explain what FR is all about.

Free Republic is a conservative site. That does not necessarily mean it is a Republican site. In fact there may be many Republicans we don't support and some Republican issues we cannot agree with.

I'll throw in Arlen Specter as a prime example of a Republican we cannot support. Should be obvious to all why not. Should also be just as obvious to all that we cannot support Olympia Snowe, Susan Collins, John McCain and his lap dog Lindsay Graham, Rudy Giuliani, Mitt Romney, et al.

Some of the issues we cannot support as conservatives even though sometimes initiated by so-called Republicans include TARP, or any kind of government bailout of private enterprise, federal intrusion into free markets, federalized education systems, government provided or controlled health care systems, abortion, gay marriage, amnesty, global warming, gun control, etc.

I guess there is more than one definition of conservatism floating around out there, and this won't be text book, but the one we use involves defending, preserving and protecting our constitution, our unalienable rights, our traditional family values, our American heritage, our nation, our borders and our sovereignty.

We aggressively defend our rights to Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness!

We aggressively defend our rights to freedom of religion, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom to keep and bear arms, right to due process, right to equality under the law, right to be governed under the rule of law, right to constitutionally limited government, right to corruption free government, right to self-government and our private property rights, etc.

We also aggressively defend our right to state and local government for all issues not expressly delegated to the central government by the constitution.

We aggressively defend our rights to free markets and our rights to live our lives free of government intrusion, interference, coercion, force, or abuse of any kind.

We aggressively defend our rights to national sovereignty, state sovereignty and individual sovereignty!

And this definition also includes aggressively fighting against all enemies foreign and domestic who may try to deprive us of our rights or sovereignty. This would obviously include all foreign enemies, but also we defend against RINOS, Democrats, liberals, socialists, Marxists, communists, militant feminists or homosexualists, radical environmentalists, etc, etc, etc.

And we expect our elected representatives to also aggressively defend our rights and fight against all enemies foreign and domestic. We do not elect people and send them to DC or our state capitals, etc, to reach across the aisles or to be bipartisan or to negotiate or compromise away our rights. If you're not going to aggressively fight for us, and for our rights, STAY OUT!!

We bow to no king but God!

Our God-given unalienable rights are NOT negotiable!

Do NOT Tread on US!

Thank you very much!

Not me, either. I bear no hatred for you. We go round and round but I would miss you if you were gone.

Life is too short if you don’t have interesting people to argue with.

And puppy dogs and children and grandchildren.

However, take my mother-in-law. Please.

I agree. You always manage to make me smile (OK, sometimes it is a smirk).

LOL but no thanks on the MIL. One is more than enough for me.

I hate elitists like Romney and Lady Lawyer.

Go ahead, call me one. It won’t be the worst thing I have been called by Mitt supporters.

You’re going to have to do a heck of a lot of Duncan Hunter boosting here at FR to equal your embarrassing sycophantic shilling for Mitt Romney in 2008.

Because you couldn’t live up to the standards, you hate everybody who can.

Perfect example of Mormon superiority.

You attack a good Christian woman and accuse her of not living up to LDS standards and then of hating “better” people like you.

You do not need to be a better person to get to heaven, you need to TRUST a better person (Christ) to get you there.

Get off the hamster wheel, LL. Choose the Cross.

BS. Propaganda and lies. The taxpayers will pay for the jaws of life regardless and just because a person does not have insurance doesn’t mean the taxpayers pay for it.

When you buy a house and don’t have the cash to pay outright, do the taxpayers pay for it? (well, pre-Obama)

When you want to buy a car and need a payment plan, is your car paid for by taxpayers?

Get the idea? Good, because that’s how it works. Having been there myself and paid the bill, I know first hand.

Now, you’ll say ‘But what if they don’t pay or can’t pay...’

Then, a deal will be reached. If a deal is reached and defaulted, the debt will be sold to a collection agency, same as credit card debt.

YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO FORCE ME TO PAY FOR INSURANCE THAT I DON’T WANT OR NEED. PERIOD. It isn’t ‘fairness’ and it sure as hell isn’t freedom.

I love Free Republic but think Romney could beat any sleasy liberal dem over someone else unknown, no? He has good business sense and is a great speaker---yes, not as conservative as we all would like, but anything is better than todays corrupt socialist timebomb. Just asking. We have all been duped in our own country and MUST win in 2012.

What makes you think Romney could ever win. I know a lot of people (and I mean a lot) who held their nose and voted for McCain who would NEVER have voted for Romney.

And the Mormonism angle? Just wait until the MSM attacks him on it. They hate Mormons just slightly less than they hate Evangelical Christians..

Sorry, it doesn’t do us any good to win with a guy who’s just as sleazy as the sleazy Dem. Time to purge the big government RINOs!!

It’s going to get ugly. These RINOS hate conservatism. Ask them to define it, and they will SPIN it. They cannot articulate it, doing so would expose their true nature. This stupid idiotic tour is a way for them to try and dupe the american people into thinking that the Republican party needs to move to the center. Instead of trying to weed out the RINOs and force them out, why not have all the real conservatives form a new party which would strongly distinguisg them from the RINO Moderates. It would be supported by grass root conservatives. Today Rush mentioned about a gold mine of true conservative people in the USA that could cause another landslide victory like Reagan if they were represented properly.

We already have 49 "third parties" and a number of them are conservative, they clearly don't work very well, I can't even name them them and I bet you can't either.

If you think the answer to winning an epic "winner take all" battle between two giant parties is to break one of them up into two or more smaller parties, then how about getting the Democrat party to go first.

I voted for McCain in November, but I DID vote for Alan Keyes in the primary (along with Huckabee’s convention delegates in an attempt to block McCain). Does my McCain vote mean I have to leave FR? :-)

“The question was what makes Jim more qualified to establish the litmus test and definition for conservatism (outside his website) then say you or anyone else?”

In my opinion it should be obvious that someone that has devoted their life to creating by far the best conservative news forum on the Internet would have a pretty good grasp of what Conservative is, and means.

Romney isn't even close, and never was.
