Staunch GOP conservative Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) doubts that Sarah Palin will be able to resurrect her political career after calling it quits as governor of Alaska.
King says he was saddened by the news that Palin, "a star" of the party, gave up the job because he doesn't see how she can continue "her political career on the path ... it was going."
"I dont know of anyone who has successfully and voluntarily pulled themselves out of political office and been able to leverage that into more political success," King said in an interview with The Hill on Monday.
Still, King wouldn't rule out a comeback entirely.
"I hope theres something brilliant behind this because shes entirely capable of actually having a grand strategy that the rest of us dont understand, King said.

She can come back very easily if she chooses.
More crap.
Same old story. If this guy is as conservative he say’s then he would care less about what others might think and throw his support 100% behind Sarah.
As I said, same old story. They are just skin deep.
What people voice on bulletin boards and what people voice from the national political stage, should be two different things.
This guy has no business expressing this type of an opinion. If he’s truly a Conservative, he should let the chips fall where they will without political pot shots from the Congressional peanut gallery.
Well, that’s that then. King has spoken. Someone turn off the lights on the way out.
I bet he’s pissed that Sarah won’t campaign for him. Oh well, his loss
King has always had his finger in the political winds, he doen't have any real opinions, they're formed by the polls. I'll never forget his defense of Bill Clinton.
Obviously he’s a RINO and is a-skeered of her too, LOL!
Does Marion Berry come to mind? Oh, never mind. He’s a dem.
I think she’ll do fine. She has my support unless there is a truthful scandal or she campaigns for people like Charlie Crist.
A guy cannot express his opinion?
I suppose as long it agrees with your take on things it’s okay, right?
I think all this speculation either way is a waste of time. We’ll know come 2012 and I doubt a moment sooner.
Geez Louise, tons of people (including some conservatives) have been drinking the liberal kool-aid, in terms of Sarah Palin!
Sarah Palin’s Road To The White House has begun! We’re gonna work our butts off to help her get there! She is gonna win in 2012 and we’re all are gonna CELEBRATE!!!!!! SARAH WILL WIN IN 2012!!!!!!
And in January 2013, “CONGRATULATIONS, MADAME PRESIDENT!!!!” And then Sarah and Todd will escort Barack and Michelle to their helicopter and then they’ll fly away! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO YEAH!!!!!
The likes of Huckabee, Romney and Gingrich had all better stay out of the way! For:
WE WANT SARAH!!!!
WE WANT SARAH!!!!
WE WANT SARAH!!!!
SA-RAH, 20-12!
SA-RAH, 20-12!
SA-RAH, 20-12!
SARAH PALIN, HELL YEAH!!!!!!!
John Ziegler said it best, THIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH SARAH WANTING TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT, she did it for her state, she did it for the benefit of her country and her family. This had nothing to do with her running for President, this had to do with a decision that she made a long time ago realizing that she can do so much more on the outside then in Alaska, she knew that with these ethics complaints being filed against her(Oh yeah, another one was filed today, saying that she can’t live in her own house) that she could NOT do her job effectively. She sacrificed herself for something GREATER then self, that is something elitists just don’t get, all they think about is Presidency, Sarah isn’t thinking about Presidency, she is thinking about something even more important then that right now
I don’t even think that’s her plan personally. I think she’s going to make a boatload of money on the book/lecture circuit and form a conservative organization and PAC that will push conservative candidates and causes.
Agreed. It’s going to be very intersting to see these politicians saying these things if the Sarah Pac numbers that came in on June 30th are huge. They’ll all fall in line after that wanting a piece of the pie
I think one of her first telling signs will be who she campaigns for in Florida, Rubio or Crist
Sarah is likely to muster a small hurricane at her back. Then let’s see what King says.
I can’t see her going for the mediocrity of Crist. But anything’s possible.
