Can this be for real? From Carly Fiorina's Twitter feed:
@CarlyforCA Breaking news: Fiorina 46%, Campbell 23%, DeVore 14% according to new Survey USA poll. Proof that hard work pays off!
This, I'm told by the Fiorina campaign, was just reported on television on L.A. The last SurveyUSA poll showed Fiorina trailing Campbell 35% to 24%, with DeVore in third at 15%. So, if true, this new poll would represent a huge swing--such a huge swing that I'm curious to see the actual poll.
George Murphy and William Knowland.
One can quibble with that statement.
Oh but anyway Campbell="We must raise taxes". So FAIL on him being on the economic right. Add that to partial birth abortion, gay marriage, DC needle exchange, and his anti-Israel record and in my view you get a big pile of crap.
Whatever you wanna say about Fiorina's business record and even if she ends up sucking like many freepers believe she couldn't possibly end up with a worse voting record than Tom Campbell.
DeVore will have a hard time getting a win in the general election. True constitutional conservatives like Mr. DeVore, but everybody else sees him as a hard-ass.
We need to end Boxer’s term in congress. Even a Rino is an improvement.....heck.....even John McCain would be an improvement.
No, no, no. I have not been conditioned to believe that a 100% conservative cannot win in California. Read my posts: I wanted either Congressmen Tom McClintock or Darryl Issa to run for the Senaye (I actually wrote to each one encouraging him to run) because this was thd year in whicha 100% conservative could win in California if he had the appropriate profile, name ID and resources. Either McClintock or Issa would have been ideal, but DeVore could have been it, too, if only he could win the GOP primary.
What I recognize is that a two-term state assemblyman with low name ID and very little money who is polling at 15% in poll after poll after poll is not going to win the *primary* over the two better-known candidates. There is no run-off in California, so even if DeVore sprinted to the finish line and ended up in second place it would not give him a chance for the nomination.
You say that if supporting DeVore while knowing that he can’t win the primary leads to Campbell winning the nomination, then “so be it.” I have to disagree with you on that. Tom Campbell is the worst conceivable nominee for the GOP, a Dede Scozzafava-type DIABLO who would be further left than Boxer on issues such as marriage and perhaps even abortion. He would not only lose to Boxer, but he would depress conservative turnout throughout the state.
So I’m supporting the only candidate who poll after poll after poll shows has a realistic chance to beat Campbell in the primary: Carly Fiorina. She is by no means the perfect candidate, but she is acceptable, and would be the first pro-life U.S. Senator from CA since Roe v. Wade. I can appreciate your opinion on this, and agree with you that Fiorina should take more forceful stands on certain issues in order to defeat Boxer, but I am not willing to support a candidate without a realistic chance of winning the primary if it can result in a pro-partial birth abortion, pro-same-sex-marriage, anti-Zionist, pro-Islamist DIABLO such as Tom Campbell winning the GOP nomination.
>> was a solid vote on national security and economic issues. <<
Uh, no. He was liberal as all hell on all issues. If the GOP were going to get 300 votes anyway on a bill, he would be more inclined to vote their way if it were a defense bill than if it were prolife, but he did vote pretty much straigh-down-the-line the way Bill Clinton and Tom Foley told him to.
>> There is no excuse for donating $10,000 <<
You’re absolutely right.
>> Rob Simmons would have never done that. <<
But quite likely only because it would have been too obvious as an elected official. RINOs will usually stop at nothing to prevent a conservative from disproving their notion that they have to be social liberals to get elected in urban and northeastern-suburb districts. BUt I have never played follow-the-money with Simmons the way I have with CT Whitman, Dole, Weld, etc.
(Re: Your screen name)
Yoko can fill you in...
And I’m sure that the Maine Twins also endorsed Jim DeMint this year, so what? Sarah Palin endorsed Fiorina—it doesn’t mean that Fiorins shares all of Palin’s views. And neither does Fiorina share all of Collins’s and Snowe’s views.
What "hits"? This poll has DeVore pretty much exactly where the previous polls have all been. It's the Fiorna vs. Campbell numbers that are different.
If the poll is accurate, and the trend continues, then the good news is that folks who want to vote for DeVore might be able to do so without risking Campbell winning.
it is California after all.
Just another elitist RINO.
a hairs breath better than most Dhimmicrats...
I have the same deal here in NY State....if the useless Republican Party does take one of the Senate Seats and gets back the Gov. mansion....it will be Dhimmicrat lite all over again...
Last time I checked, protectionism and unionism were not on the conservative agenda. Perhaps you are thinking we should all get on the socialist bandwagon. Are you for spreading the wealth too? You see, Apple, IBM, DELL, etc.. outsourced jobs to China, etc. and they are still in business. You would have preferred that HP shut its doors. Just saying... your argument for why you say she is a RINO drips with socialist claptrap.
This gets old. The reason good old California jobs are being outsourced to China and India and such is California Laws. You are lucky that Apple and etc haven't entirely pulled up stakes and found Utah. Its not evil. Its just business and saying HP is evil but Apple, IBM and DELL are not is insane. They all have outsourced extensively. It stinks but go talk to the Union bosses in California.. if you want to complain.
I got news for you. The stalker in this case is typically the first freeper to call the Mods or in the below case ask that a freeper be banned. sjb just got fed up with dealing with her. If someone called her ‘simple minded’ (completely un-provoked yet as in this case) she would immediately hit the abuse button.
This is to all the Mods, JimRob, and anyone who supports President Bush..........or doesn't.....#496
> Just saying... your argument for why you say she is a RINO drips with socialist claptrap
Just saying... you have no idea what you are talking about. I really, really wish people who talk about FioRINO’s disastrous reign at HP would know some facts first.
The people at HP were not union. There was a culture of excellence at HP that FioRINO destroyed.
In 2001, the people at HP took a voluntary pay cut, up to 10% to save HP money. Then, the layoffs started. In the past, before the incompetent FioRINO took command, the layoffs had been handled by frontline managers to determine the worst performers to lay off vs. the best performers to keep. Miss Carly had a better idea, to just cut people regardless of performance. Oh, she’s so smart and innovative! This is not capitalism, it’s stupidity of the highest order.
And this is your candidate. You can HAVE HER. She’s an idiot.
And by the way, there are ways to implement outsourcing without ruining your company. Apple, Dell, Google do it. But they have non-incompetents at the helm. HP wasn’t so lucky.
As for capitalism, I’m more for it than you are in that capitalism rewards the competent and dumps the stupid. When FioRINO was fired from HP, the market responded THAT DAY by HP stock rising 10%, so put that in your socialist pipe and smoke it.
It means that Palin has endorsed Fiorina's views. That's how RINO cronyism works.
Yeah, no slave camps or Caste systems.
About 1000 time better that if the communist Cruz Bustamante had won.
Let me ask you, you have deep ties in the state so leaving is hard. Hitler or Schwarzenegger? Stalin or Schwarzenegger?
Do tell. And voing third party is like voting for Hotler or Stalin.
You will not answer one or the other because you are full of .....
I voted Tom McClintock in 2003, however 2006 I voted for Schwarzenegger over the American hating socialism rat Phil Angelides.
People like you would rather throw this country down the tube by letting evil men like Barry Hussein win elections.
SAD!
Putting in a Schwarzenegger is worse than a Bustamante. Because then you basically surrender even the possiblity of conservatism. When Bustamante fails, you can counter with “see...we need conservatism.” When Schwarzenegger fails, you have no comeback, because in the mind of the average voter GOP=conservative.
I can understand going with a more moderate candidate sometimes, because that’s all you can get, but 2003 was in particular a golden opportunity for conservatism. Instead, the country-clubbers forced their candidate in, in order to stop conservatism.
I see Fiorina somewhat in the same light.
“When, exactly, did we decide that women were better suited to run our country than men?”

No I am afraid that is not how it works. People like Bustamante, Barry Hessian, Hitler, Stalin are so evil that they will do irreversible damage. Like a cancer that destroys a body part to the point on no return.
All Schwarzenegger’s non-sense is reversible and the next Governor of Ca will be Meg Whitman so the GOP will not pay for him.
We will not get a conservative again but there is not one running so ....
