EXCLUSIVE: The son of the U.S. Air Force pilot who dropped the first atomic bomb in the history of warfare says the Obama administration's decision to send a U.S. delegation to a ceremony in Japan to mark the 65th anniversary of the attack on Hiroshima is an "unsaid apology" and appears to be an attempt to "rewrite history." James Tibbets, son of Brig. Gen. Paul W. Tibbets, Jr., says Friday's visit to Hiroshima by U.S. Ambassador John Roos is an act of contrition that his late father would never have approved. "It's an unsaid apology," Tibbets, 66, told FoxNews.com from his home in Georgiana, Ala. "Why wouldn't it be? Why would [Roos] go? It doesn't make any sense. "I know it's the anniversary, but I don't know what the hell they're trying to do. It needs to be left alone. The war is over."

It appears that, at least in THIS case, the apple didn’t fall too far from the tree. Paul Tibbets was a patriot first and foremost and SO IS HIS SON. He saw through Hussein’s attempt to play politics and apologize to the world for using the bomb and winning the war!!!!

Great critical thinking by one of our esteemed perfessers. We have no moral position to criticize North Korea using the bomb because we used it, even though we used it to stop totalitarianism, and NK would be using it AS totalitarianism.

Without researching the matter and just speaking off the top of my head, as they say, I can't recall a single instance in which Zero has said or done anything that was designed to reinforce or highlight as exceptional (in a positive way) anything about America or American history.
There were a few broad, lukewarm generalizations in speeches which were obviously stated because he felt he had to, but anything of a specific nature has always been focused on denigrating America and marginalizing it in history.
Hopefully, 2010 will herald a grand awakening of patriotism in America and will be an election year much like the Great Flood.

If we had the same criteria and agenda as the mosque at 9/11 ground zero,
the “delegation” would be going to Hiroshima to plant a victory flag.
If called on to speak publicly, say something to the effect, "Was the A-Bomb, like awesome, or what? I mean you guys all wanted to die for Emperor, but when we accepted your proposal, you folded like a cheap umbrella."

When I visited the USS Arizona Memorial in Hawaii a few years back (1990’s) I was struck (astounded,actually) by how many Asians there were there...many of whom appeared to be older.I don’t know if they were Japanese but it seems likely that many were partly because Hawaii was a *huge* tourist destination for the Japanese back then.As I was there one thing I wondered was “are they here out of some sort of shame or remorse or is it a victory lap for them?”

In the late 1990’s one of the retired Military guides (Fiske?) who was actually there during the bombing, and who you see on the History Channel, told me that the Japanese tourists come late, when the park is about to close, as to not be the focus of potential anger and or offend the other tourists
