Like many, I didn't get to see this. Please leave this in breaking news so everyone gets a chance to see this (or somewhere it gets a lot of exposure). It's very important for conservatives to see this....enjoy! : )

Cain did something last night that impressed me greatly, but it was not at all obvious at first; it took a while to sink in. On a question of defined benefit plans v. defined contribution plans he thought for a second, realized he hadn't formulated his thoughts, looked at his "opponent," and said, "You take it."

Have you EVER seen a politician do that? Hell no! Every politician I have ever seen will say anything, no matter how lame, because he needs to look like he's totally in charge. Yet in doing so, I can't tell you how many times they merely proved that they hadn't a clue. It later became apparent that it wasn't the case that Cain didn't know anything about the topic. He simply did not know what he wanted to say. So, he deferred to 'his guy,' Newt, a man he clearly trusted and respected in order to work off what he had to say. Everybody knows Newt has something to say. The problem with him is that much of what he believes is plainly wrong (cap and trade, etc.).

I think this is but one reason why these two clearly like each other.

Cain is a guy I could work for: A real leader who will do what he can to make his people look good. He doesn't have to know everything. After all, if he did, why hire anybody? Why have advisers? This is a leader, not a monster ego.

It was a semi-interesting show. It was not a debate. To bill it as anything similar to Lincoln-Douglas is laughable. It was a symposium featuring two candidates who promise not to “play gotcha”, i.e., debate or disagree.

“It was a symposium featuring two candidates who promise not to “play gotcha”,”

Right. And I think this is a more desirable format for voters to learn about the candidates and the issues.

It's not bad. It's just not a debate, and bears no resemblance to Lincoln-Douglas. That label is a farce.

I'd like to see real debate of issues. You can have debate without "gotcha", no matter what Newt says.

They should do it like playoffs:

Paul v Cain
Romney v Newt

Have some mechanism for viewers to vote the winners.

Then a final between the winners.

I only saw the Fox highlights, but I was very impressed with what I saw. I could envision these 2 together on the ticket, and it wouldn't matter to me which was which. They would get stuff done, and it would be for the good of the country and the taxpayers, not a bunch of socialist nambee-pambees putting no-mind zombies in the streets for some agenda that none of them can state.

Good stuff! Bring it on!

This is what I think I see and hope I am right. Humility at the right time and strength and confidence at the right time.

I can’t decide though if the two of them are successful, and among all the candidates I want one of these two to face obastard, who is first between the equals? They are equals in different ways. Their strengths and shortcomings seem to compliment one another. Frankly, I think the two of them have a plan together that they have not announced yet. I thin they are just working for the right time.

I’m praying for the United States and leadership that will lead us out of this wasteland we are now in. I know it can be done but it will take the right vision and it will take a long time.

Informative. When Mr. Cain asked “The Speaker” the last question I thought they both were going to roll on the floor laughing. That was beautiful. Then at 81:36 did anyone notice Mr. Cain putting his chair back at the table? Most likely, it was just like him Mom taught him.

Well, now we know, you don’t get one, you get both. Great move by Cain and Newt. Romney should be rightly terrified of this pair. They are like a couple of brothers, one covering the others back.

Yes! However, it was quickly surpassed when Cain & Gingrich stood together facing the audience. I was choked with pride and optimism for our beloved nation. Election day can't get here quickly enough.

Actually, it was a debate, and not an argument, which is a loose interpretation of the word “debate”:

de·bate (d-bt)
v. de·bat·ed, de·bat·ing, de·bates
v.intr.
1. To consider something; deliberate.

Now, if you mean you’d like to see more of where they disagree, well, that may be worthwhile. However, I personally loved the debate (not “bickering”) format, because they actually were able to address issues, although I don’t agree with many of their ideas, I do, however, believe that Cain, and to a lesser degree, Gingrich, both want to do what is best for our country (even if they aren’t sure what it is yet), or at least improve it.
