REPORTS: No Live Ammo for Marines

U.S. Marines defending the American embassy in Egypt were not permitted by the State Department to carry live ammunition, limiting their ability to respond to attacks like those this week on the U.S. consulate in Cairo.

Ambassador to Egypt Anne Patterson “did not permit U.S. Marine guards to carry live ammunition,” according to multiple reports on U.S. Marine Corps blogs spotted by Nightwatch. “She neutralized any U.S. military capability that was dedicated to preserve her life and protect the US Embassy.”

If true, the reports indicate that Patterson shirked her obligation to protect U.S. interests, Nightwatch states.

This isn’t the perogative of an ambassador, this is rules of engagement established by Obama. If this is true every damn Marine officedr in that chain of command should be cashiered and Obama should be impeached. Of course none of that will happen.

Thanks. I read those comments. No where does it state that Amb Patterson was not in the country at the time. She had nothing to do with the Press Release. Supposedly, according to buck passer Obama, the PR was strictly a product of Embassy PAO Schwartz and was not approved by Washington, only by the Charge' in Cairo. In fact, Obama said that Washington didn't want it released with that language.

When, as I noted previously in a earlier post, this source contains such misinformation, I am skeptical about some of the other statements made without any real sourcing. I want to see more information before jumping to any conclusions.

Based on my personal experience of serving abroad at seven embassies and visiting many more, I have a hard time believing that it is embassy policy not to allow MSGs to carry loaded weapons. If that is the case, then something is very, very wrong.

You are correct, but I was referring to the Mariens not being allowed to carry ammo. And the “rules of engagement” that they are under is ridiculous. I suggest reading “No Easy Day” it was written by a former SEAL that was involved in Bin Laden capture. He makes it very clear how these current ROEs are severely handicapping our troops.

And in that he did well. It is appalling that such a baseline response now comes across as bold, not that a nominee can actually do much beyond that, but the relative silence over these simultaneous and widespread outrages is disgusting.

Heard this on Rush too. Have been wondering 'why' since this happened; there had been no questions as to why we were not able to defend ourselves; much less; kill even one perp/terrorist. (Was sure thi Admin had told them they could not shoot their guns or somesuch; but no answers; until Rush.

This Administration; CIC Obama should be charged with TREASON and dereliction of duty; inasmuch as he stationed our Military; our Embassy personnel/Ambassador ET AL in the most dangerous of locations/situations; and in complete jeopardy and vulnerability to our worst enemies - without the ability to defend themselves! Regrettably, I must disagree. Even in pictures of our "leaders" looking their most intelligent, I cannot buy what the picture is trying to sell.

When I look at the picture of Hillary that I posted, even though I see that she is younger and looking most inquisitive with her eye wear, I see an absolute failure of a woman. I see quite possibly the dumbest woman in the world. I see someone who is a clear and present danger to freedom.

Similarly, when I look at the picture of Obama here, despite the photo's best efforts to portray a thoughtful man, I see just the opposite. In fact, when I look at pictures of Obama, I see something so much worse than a stupid man. I see Evil. Honestly, sometimes in some photos of him, I see something that is not human.

I don't know, perhaps my eyes are too jaded now.

Also, Churchillspirit, please let me say, God Bless England and her people. May our two countries always be both friends and allies. I am very sad how our president has treated Israel. Good friends are not made easily, and how quickly we have tossed Israel aside just disgusts me.

I think western civilization is at great risk. I think a time may come very soon where we must stand together against great evil as we have done in the past. Sadly, this time some of that evil eminates from America.

FWIW,,there are some reporting they do not believe the statement put out by the State Dept about the ammo.

I guess I’m too old for this board...I remember the same correction coming from the Pentagon regarding the US Marines in Beirut back in 1983 when their barracks were bombed at Beirut’s airport...The reports coming out of Beirut said that the Marines in Beirut were not even allowed to put empty magazines into their M16s, let alone lock and load live rounds...The Pentagon “corrected” that initial report...Later it was found that the initial reports were true...

So let me think...A Marine officer says that the postings of individual soldiers are incorrect...From what I remember during my time in uniform, the enlisted-ranks told the truth, and the officers said what their higher ups told them to say..

I’m going to believe the enlisted-ranks over the press releases from the officer corps...Call me crazy, but experience is a better teacher than wishful thinking...
