What preserved T. rex tissue? Mystery explained at last
NBC News ^ | November 27 | Stephanie Pappas

Posted on 12/02/2013 10:18:24 AM PST by Ha Ha Thats Very Logical

The controversial discovery of 68 million-year-old soft tissue from the bones of a Tyrannosaurus rex finally has a physical explanation. According to newly published research, iron in the dinosaur's body preserved the tissue before it could decay.

The research, headed by Mary Schweitzer, a molecular paleontologist at North Carolina State University, explains how proteins — and possibly even DNA — can survive for millennia. Schweitzer and her colleagues first raised this question in 2005, when they found the seemingly impossible: soft tissue preserved inside the leg of an adolescent T. rex unearthed in Montana.

Those people that make there living by digging up bones that they claim came from dinosaurs would lose all there funding if it were known that their hundreds of millions of years ago so called theory were proven wrong. Therefore, they must hide the fact that humans and dinosaurs lived together a few thousand years ago.

Because no one would be interested in researching giant creatures that lived a few thousand years ago!?!

Major logic fail!!!

Depending on your perspective, that could mean different things. Care to elaborate a little?

One would hope but, alas, such thinking does exist.

Ok, but just a little. I have found that engaging the willfully ignorant (Left and Right) is fruitless.

Lets just say that your posts do not make me cry.

I am not a troll for posting what is both my Christian faith and what I know to be scientifically factual.

There are no scientific facts that prove that dinosaurs lived 100 million years ago and there is much evidence that dinosaurs lived alongside man. See other posts about cave drawings of dinosaurs.

Interesting. I note that that you do not claim dinos coexisting with man to be a scientific fact, only stating that “much evidence” exists that they did.

Of course, the only “evidence” you have brought to the discussion relates to the displays at the Creation Museum. And I’m sorry, that’s just not evidence.

Thanks SteveH. There are a couple of oddities in Hebrew lore but, *no", there are no cave paintings of dinosaurs.

We see a space ship.

The artist and his contemporary viewers saw a hole in the floor of heaven, with angels and saints peering down on the terrestrial plain as if from a balcony in the sky, with a beam of heavenly light pouring through to bless John the Baptist and Jesus.

The major glaring fault in the article is the false assumption that dinosaurs lived millions and millions of years ago, when in fact, dinosaurs lived a few thousand years ago.

Except no, they didn't. Fortunately for us that believe the bible, it's not necessary in order for the bible to still be true.

Yes, actually, it is an assumption. You make the assumption that it rained last night when you see that the grass is wet. That may or may not be true. If true that does not make it something other than an assumption. An assumption is an assumption whether supported by facts or not.

If they are decedent then they are dead. They might be descendants from their forebears, though.

“Do you think all these people who have actually seen pterodactyls are making it all up?”

Do you know how many people actually claim to see black panthers (melanistic mountain lions)?

MeganC: "I smell a troll."

soycd: "Failed association or troll attempt."

Oliviaforever: "I am not a troll for posting what is both my Christian faith and what I know to be scientifically factual."

imardmd1: "You've got it. Set the bait out and wait, see if any suckers bite."

FRiends, this is not a troll-attack, it's just a convention of young-earth anti-evolutionists.
And they are brought here by the very significant point of the above article: yes, there is an natural scientific explanation for that dino soft-tissue, tissue which has been a major piece of the anti-evolutionists' arguments.
So, they are here to deny or explain-away the scientists' conclusions.

And they have been posting on Free Republic probably since the beginning, certainly as long as I've been here. The new ones are likely just youngsters, fresh out of school, eager to argue the points they were taught.

And here is the most important point to remember: they are our friends and political allies, our neighbors & relations and as such we should keep in mind some rules:

  1. Be as FRiendly as possible.

  2. Be as patient as possible.

  3. Take their claims in good faith and respond with facts and reason, also in good faith.

  4. You do not have to take their insults lying down, but be reluctant to return insult for insult.
Never start a battle of insults.

  5. Have fun!

For those who are worried that some Christians might give Free Republic a bad name... well... hmmmmmmm.... might be time to relax and consider: if this is as "crazy" as "crazy" can get on our side, then just think about some of the stark-raving lunatics on the liberal/progressive side of things.
Our side has all the good people!

FWIW...
