California’s Income Inequality Now Worse Than Mexico’s, Poverty Level Highest In America
National Economics Editorial ^ | Jan 17, 2017 | Spencer P Morrison

Californians love sermonizing on the plight of America’s poor and disenfranchised—if only penny-pinching republicans would shell out for a bigger welfare state then all our problems would be solved. Why not build more homes for the homeless, or invest in better education for our kids? The state can solve the problem of poverty, they argue.

And to be fair, they’ve put their money where their mouth is: over the last few decades California has built one of America’s most lavish welfare states. There’s just one problem: it’s not working.

The sad truth of the matter is that California’s poverty rate is the highest in the country, at 20.6 percent. This is based on data from the US Census Bureau, and modified so as to account for differences in the cost of living between states. And if you’re a skeptical “progressive” then don’t worry, even Politifact confirms this finding.

The real problem is Californians are a disease on the rest of the country. If you see them in your city, think Zombies. Stop them anyway you can.

In 1976, Viet Nam refugees were gainfully employed doing well at a Cheese Factory in Bogue, Kansas. They got phone calls from California that said Mr. Welfare was paying them money to go to school, learn English and paying their rent. They LEFT for a better social benefit that California offered. The Cheese plant in Bogue, Kansas closed.

Don’t worry, with the new Tax Bill’s limit on SALT Deductions, a whole bunch of Liberal Millionaires and Billionaires will head to Nevada.

That should lessen the income divide. LOL

Well, how are you going to alleviate poverty when you keep adding millions of uneducated, illiterate, illegal aliens every year.

Adding millions of uneducated, illiterate, illegal aliens every year is exactly what the progressives/leftists/socialists/communists want!

California is already a one party state, Democrats.

They want this for the rest of the country. Right now they appear to be winning!

This works until they run out of other people's money.

The top 1% of taxpayers pay 48% of all tax revenue. It wouldn't take much to sink the state economy by enticing some of that 1% away to a more sane tax environment.

...if only penny-pinching republicans would shell out for a bigger welfare state then all our problems would be solved.

Well, they did take that out of the hands of the Republicans, there's that. This is that sweet time in the progress of a society toward universal socialism that the revolutionaries, having captured the government, set out to plunder the hell out of anyone stupid enough to remain. And just look at all that lovely money in those oceanside villas in Malibu! In those Hollywood mansions! It really isn't anything that a 100% tax on incomes over, say, $50,000 a year couldn't take care of. George Clooney and Barbra Streisand will love you for it, folks! Eat the rich!

“Governor Moonbeam should start practicing what he preaches”

Not only him, but also, all of the Hollyweird billionaires. They should open their mansions and estates to the illegals they love and give them all a “living wage.”
