Kids fear Ann Coulter

"Mommy, make the scary lady go away." Those are the tearful words of Kaylee Brodkin, 7, of Gary, Ind., who for the last five days has been awakened in the middle of the night by terrifying nightmares - nightmares featuring television pundit/author Ann Coulter.

With the ubiquitous Coulter currently on a national book tour, little Kaylee's sad story is far from an isolated occurrence.

"More and more these days, we are seeing small children who have been traumatized by Ann Coulter," said Dr. Harmon Densmore, chief clinical psychologist at the Chartwell Children's Institute based at the University of Minnesota.

While Densmore urges parents to limit their children's exposure to the banshee-like pundit, whose intemperate polemics flatten everyone and everything in their path, he acknowledges that keeping children away from Coulter entirely may be next to impossible.

Little Kaylee, who is now working with a counselor to conquer her fear, attends role-playing therapy sessions twice a week in which she uses a dragon puppet to bite the head off an Ann Coulter puppet.

"I'd like to hug Kaylee and tell her that Ann Coulter doesn't exist, but you can't lie to your kids," said Kaylee's mother, Diane Brodkin, 38. "Children today have to deal with a lot of scary things, and Ann Coulter, unfortunately, is one of them."

It means that you have something that they neither have nor understand and that in itself is intimidating. It also means that it is unlikely that you can be swayed by non-arguments and raw emotionalism. That makes you a threat, because while you may not be swayed yourself, you may have the ability to sway others....to YOUR way of thinking. You are counterproductive to their agenda, therefore, YOU are the enemy.

This is an encouraging headline.
It probably means that lefties/liberals not just won't, but CAN'T bring for a
true answer to one of Coulter's specific challenges, i.e.,

"Name one person who:
1. was falsely accussed by McCarthy/others of being a Communist operative/sympathizer
AND
2. whose life was ruined by said false accussation."

To the best of my recollection, this is the gauntlet that Ms. Coulter cast down
when she appeared on The Michael Medved Show a week or so ago.

I've heard plenty of ticked liberal callers on talk radio complaining about Ms. Coulter...
AND have NOT YET heard the callers bring forth such an example of a falsely-accussed-and-ruined
personage.

Too bad Ann Coulter hasn't been mentioned as a a potential Supreme Court nominee. Of course the Supreme Court would have to change its rules about video coverage of the Supreme Court. I don't think she could tolerate not being the center of attention on TV.

I'm 19 years old and Ms. (hoping it's Ms...) Coulter's appearances on Hannity and Colmes really helped me formulate a lot of the conservative views I currently hold. I'd always hated the fashionably unpatriotic sentiments that ran rampant in high-school, but was frighteningly unaware of the horribly leftist slant that was common in most of my history and English classes. Sad, but true...Ann's books opened me up to Robert Bork, David Limbaugh, Dinesh D'Souza, and a lot of others, and I remain an avid fan of her work.
