FR Has made me even more proud of being in the service of my country. As an officer in the world's greatest Navy and former officer in the world's greatest Marine Corps, I thank all the FReeper for their undying support of the men and women in uniform.

We may not always agree on everything but we know you guys are here for us.

Thanks for the love and thanks for showing an Old Warrior Nurse the ropes and teaching him a few things about grassroots conservatism.

Thanks for starting this great thread.

The day after the 2000 Presidential elections, FR went from a nice place to visit for me to my lifeline of sanity, truth and how to battle the attempt to steal our nation.

I believe that if not for Free Republic as a place to meet, to learn and plan our battles, we might have lost our nation.

9/11/01 really proved the value of FR to reality and truth and not the left wing mediot spin on what happened. We knew who engineered the mass murder of innocent Americans, not the spin from the mediots.

I seldom watch even Fox News now. I stopped watching ABCNNBCBS during the 92 elections. I know that I can spend time in the money and afternoon/evening on FR and really find out what is happening. Many times we have news before the rest of the world does, like our ill fated shuttle that was torn apart that sad day. A thread here just discussing the shuttle's expected arrival turned into an incredible news source.

I have shared recipes and received wonderful recipes. I have met new friends and lost friends due to the grim reaper. Some friends have lost family members, and we help them to get through that terrible situation. Other friends and their family members have been critically ill or injured. Our prayers seem to have had a positive impact on the outcome of many of these freepers via our prayers and prayer lists.

Everyday, I learn new and important alternatives and answers on Free Republic. The knowledge level of some of our Freepers in their areas of expertise is incredible.

Years ago when in my early thirties I asked a wonderful mentor why so many people were depressed, hostile, angry and frustrated. His answer was burned into my memory.

He said that most people were depressed, hostile, angry or frustrated because life had dealt them some severe, some moderate and a lot of petty problems and road blocks. Since they didn't have any alternatives to overcome these road blocks they became more depressed, hostile, angry and frustrated. What made it worse for them, they didn't know where to go for help or even how to ask for it.

For most of our problems in life that we haven't caused ourselves, we can find alternative solutions from our fellow freepers if we just ask or just state the problem on a post.

Jim Robinson created an incredible Resource for Conservative Living when he started Free Republic. That resource needs our continued help re monthly donations and donations during each Freepathon.

If you don't donate monthly or quarterly to Free Republic, please make it a habit. None of us want to be without Free Republic.

Thank you.

It just keep chugging along.
I thought it would be a good holiday thing to do.
So far it has been from one extreme to the other.

I actually went over every reply.

As usual those who whine and complain about everything, whined and complained.

Those afflicted with the sick humor virus (they would laugh and make jokes when the WTC towers were being attacked or worse) made their sick humor jokes.

The rest of the replies are what most Freepers are, good people trying help us and our country to be better without destroying it.

What Has Free Republic Ever Done for.... YOU?

After five years of visiting and posting here under various pseudonyms, I'm still "outside lookin' in". None-the-less, FR has provided for news and current events junkies like myself, a convenient place to catch up on reasonably interesting postings and followup opinions.

Free Republic has provided the proof that there are thousands of intelligent conservative activists in this country. It has provided the premier forum for conservative ideas and suggestions to be put to the test.

Not only have I had the pleasure of getting to know many like-minded individuals, but the exchange of ideas and information has certainly made me better informed on nearly every issue.

Sometimes there is a lot of noise and fluff to wade through to get to the meaty issues, but there is no meaty issue that escapes this forum. And the expertise that Freepers offer to each other is nothing short of remarkable.

But the very best thing about Free Republic is that it has exposed the media. Bias and outright lies are instantly spotted.

Walter Cronkite would never have been known as "the most trusted man in America" if Free Republic existed at the time.

This an incredible and yet obvious statement in your reply:

Walter Cronkite would never have been known as "the most trusted man in America" if Free Republic existed at the time.

Free Republic is the best resource for information on the internet. I use Google quite a bit for stuff but if I'm looking for specific articles (Irael, terrorism, elections and other like things) I do a search here. MUCH less crap to have to wade through.

Well, with the two of you, it's fun. Sometime I launch into the slovenly mode (not southern) when I get mildly irritated with something I read on here that seems silly to me. Sorta like expressing mild contempt, without getting snotty, ya know?

There have been more writers than Mark Twain that have written entire books with an accent like people actually "tawk," don'tcha know. I started doing it in defiance of the ridgid spelling and grammar police on FR.

Their intentions are good in that they know the world reads this site and they want the standards kept high and conservative. As one can see lately, those standards are hard to maintain, the more popular this site becomes.

It is truly... "A site to behold!"

Grampa Dave... Dittos to your magnificent reply, above!!!

SW thanks for your kind words re my response.

It appears that the Union Thugs pretending to be conservatives of those great world class losing third parties of America have a full court push about how bad our economy is. The usual labor day bs courtesy of left wingers and union thugs is all over FR today.

Another indicator to buy more stocks and mutual funds that are investing in America today not yesterday.

"I started doing it in defiance of the ridgid spelling and grammar police on FR."

My, my, my...SierraWasp is a rebel! Maybe that's why it comes so easily to me. heheh It sure does "sound" Southern, but there aren't a whole lot of us folks in your neck of the woods, so slovenly will do just fine.

"Sorta like expressing mild contempt, without getting snotty, ya know?"

That's almost "tact", and it's much better than getting snotty.

"A site to behold!"

Amen!

I really enjoyed "tawkin" to Porterville. I haven't been to his part of the world in many years, so it was a lot of fun.

G'mornin', Gramps! It's so good to see you!

Your reply was wonderful! I, especially, enjoyed this...

"The day after the 2000 Presidential elections, FR went from a nice place to visit for me to my lifeline of sanity, truth and how to battle the attempt to steal our nation."

Isn't THAT the truth! I had the same experience, and felt like I was here 24/7 during the recounts.

I'm very thankful for Free Republic...it's kept me sane. ;o)
