My husband said it's either her or someone who shares her plastic surgeon.

Good for you.

There was a prior moment where Michael threw his arms wide as he spoke something before he bent over to kiss his dad.

I think he said, "Thank you father for choosing me"!

He always said he felt so special to be choosen by his dad to be in his family.

Very special.

Thank you for posting that, Chad.

Gotta run for a while, I've been neglecting the kids for hours! My Reagan and her brother needs a little attention now!

Yes.

This is not a funeral; that is Friday.

Nancy was very touched by the expressions of support, mouthing "thank you" and waving to onnlookers.

It seems to me she is touched by it.

So go pound sand.

There is a moderate, respectful amount of this applause, not an overwhelming amount that detracts from the importance of the event....I refuse to say solemnity, as this should be a celebration of his life, not a time to cry over a man who is in heaven in glory.

Overall, despite some noise, it has been a largely quiet crowd.

If you can't take a couple expressions of support......WHICH NANCY HERSELF SHOWS TO BE TOUCHED BY....you are just wrong in the head.

Reagan mentioned Jesus Christ publicly quite a few times during his presidency.

I agree - I started at the end of this thread and I will work backward but I thought Stevens came close to saying it exactly as Ronald Reagan would. It's time for straight talk to return to Washington.

Was Levin not feeling well, or was he just going out of his way to be even more disrespectful than usual?

Or need I ask?

While a sense of sadness continues to make it's presence known, the sense of pride I feel continues to overwhelm me.

The love and admiration displayed for President Reagan in the past 4 days has left me in a state of awe.

Clinton has dreams of such lines, but of interns.

So, are you saying that a ceremony offically called a "State Funeral" is not really a funeral?

this reminds me of kennedy- for those of you that lived that funeral how does this compare?

I was a 10 yr old then, growing up in DC. We went to the funeral procession. My memory isn't very good for the whole thing, but I do remember the riderless horse (which I found scary), the caisson, and someone lifting me up to stand on the base of a statue so I could see better. It was freezing. I don't remember if we dressed up (since people are making comments about the viewers' clothes).

I do recall crying a lot while watching tv, but thinking about it today, I think I was just carried away with the moment. I was really too young to have much feeling for Kennedy as a person, except, because I went to a Catholic school, we all felt bad because he was a Catholic.

Fast forward many years later and I'm in a chat room and meet a guy from Britain who played the bagpipes in the procession!

I wish I was back in DC now so I could go to the Capitol. Man, I'd love to participate in this.

Did you hear Nancy Garrett (sp?), of the Wash. Post tell Brit Hume on Fox earlier that the thousands of people lining the route of the caisson earlier were there because it was historical.

I rest my case. I had heard other reporters hinting at such, and as I posted a short while ago, without the applause and callings out of "Bless you" and "we love you", the media would try to present an alternate view of the event. Now they can't.

Any time.

My late brother worked that particular event (news photographer). I remember it well.

Well, Nancy mouthing "thank you" and waving to supporters from the car shows that she is comfortable with some interaction with the crowd and is touched by their love.

It is her reaction that matters, not some anal retentive assholes on FR.

wonder...do the libs realize how badly they screwed themselves? How many of us who are now in our early thirties had nightmares about nuclear war

When I was in grammer school we had "bomb drills" where we had to get under our desks in case the Russians dropped the Big One.

My sincere thanks to you for posting the Cheney speech as I was office bound and have not been able to see any of today's coverage. ;)

My husband and I are so much a part of Generation Reagan, that we named our daughter Reagan.

That is awesome! A friend has a son named Patrick Henry Mathieu. Been trying to get Rambette to agree to George Washington as the first and middle names, but she's not buying, and we may not be having any more kids. Maybe I'll try Ronald Reagan out on her...

Why would the ministers mention Jesus Christ when Ronald Reagan never mentioned him?

There is sin and evil in the world, and we're enjoined by Scripture and the Lord Jesus to oppose it with all our might. Our nation, too, has a legacy of evil with which it must deal. The glory of this land has been its capacity for transcending the moral evils of our past. For example, the long struggle of minority citizens for equal rights, once a source of disunity and civil war, is now a point of pride for all Americans. We must never go back. There is no room for racism, anti-Semitism, or other forms of ethnic and racial hatred in this country.
