President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Shep also said there was a fear of this happening from people trying to cook remaining food on porches, etc.

That is so sad... What were they supposed to do? They are desperate.

Again, lack of preparation and incompetence on the part of that moronic mayor, who has no city left to run.

Damn I'm angry.

MSNBC just showed the convention center where people are actually dying as we post.

Why don't the cable news networks show whats really going on.

This morning Shep Smith who I dislike for being a girlieman actually showed a body, THANK GOD for real truth.

This is an email I just sent to all the networks:

Dear Cable News

Come on cable news networks let us see what is really happening. Thanks Shep Smith your the first one to show us a body. We can't understand the complete situation in New Orleans as long as you guys on cable keep sanitizing everything.

Let us see what is happening.

But I'm beginning to think that the south is really different from other parts of the country

Could happen any where in the world. Depends on the right combination of circumstances.

every moment that is spent jacking around over the political spin or the proper behavior of the press or the pointing of fingers is a moment not spent on the immediate and dire mission of responding to a catastrophe.

BUMP.

It's another question that the NO/LA authorities should be called to answer for.

Anyone watching CNN? A crowd of folks flipping off the camera and shouting "Fu*k Nagin!"

The video was unedited.

Hmm. The NO police hated having to go the projects in the best of times since they were shot at. Now with these people emboldened, they REALLY don't want to go the projects.

Nagin and Blanco are the two most inept "leaders" I've ever seen.

I'm getting the feeling that Shep is getting angry watching people die around him and not being able to help. They don't even have anything for themselves, from what I understand. Earlier on he was sharing the water they had. I don't know what's left.

And the gas wasn't turned off before the storm because.....

Maybe they didn't know they were supposed to turn it off. (The building supervisor) Who knows some of those type of controls are kept under lock & key.
