President Bush: "We are dealing with one of the worst national disasters in our nation's history." Push has appropriated vast federal resources to assist with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

78,000 people are currently in shelters. New Orleans evacuation continues. 10,000 additional National Guard troops have been called to service.

Hospitals are running low on supplies, and public health concerns include water borne disease, poor sanitation, food and drinking water contamination and shortages, mosquitoes, carbon monixide poisoning from electricity generators, lack of childcare, and the special needs of the elderly.

Dennis Hastert: New Orleans should be bulldozed.

I hate to admit it, but I share the same basic sentiment. It's just way too vulnerable just like some of the communities along the upper Mississippi that relocated after the 1993 floods.

There comes a point when the situation has to start improving.

There will be one.

At some point, the situation will turn, and things will get better; sometimes these turnings can happen so rapidly that it is surprising, and sometimes they are drawn out.

But improvement will happen, sure as the sunrise.

but all she can talk about is MONEY!!! Lots and lots of money for them to spend!

She's just taking after her daddy. When this is over, I'll try to remember to tell you a story about her daddy Moon (former mayor) and the levee scandals that went on during his tenure.
I disliked her before but I am positively despising her this week. Hopefully she will find out next election that her facelift does not cover up a black heart. Now hush my mean mouth. :o)

I have the volume off on the TV - clicking through the news channels while listening to the live feed scanner - I am just reporting what I see on TV as I flip through - I will shut-up now as I don't really care to hear the insults about any News channel.

At some point, the powers that be will have to think of whether to rebuild NO where it is or build a "New" NO someplace else.
