LOS ANGELES - Although they were born on different planets, Oscar-winning actor Nicolas Cage's new son and Superman have something in common - both were named Kal-el.

Alice Kim Cage gave birth Monday to Kal-el Coppola Cage in New York City, said the actor's Los Angeles-based publicist, Annett Wolf. No other details were available, the spokeswoman said.

Lee Atwater died the day after my daughter was born, but I didn't hear the news until I'd filled out the papers for a different name. "Lee" isn't that unusual for a girl.

I don't think anyone should have to be named Condoleezza, sorry. I know it's her name and she can't help it, but ...

"she said something really, really dumb",....

Yeah, like Nick Cage is an intellectual giant. Nick Cage is a dim bulb, a very dim bulb. Smaller, and on less often than the bulb in your refrigerator or freezer.

Hhhmmmm, Atticus goes along w/Scout (Bruce Willis post) - these people must have a fixation on "TKAMB" as well as being bizarre.

Ok, ethical question:
Do you think Superboy ever used his X-ray vision around Lois or Lana?
Honest injun now!

You know he does. I am a pretty straight arrow but there is no way I could avoid giving Lana the eye. Now Lois in the TV series would get the same treatment.

Lois in the movies always struck me as pretty ordinary looking.

NIC CAGE MARRIED AGAIN

Nic Cage and new wife Alice Kim.
After a whirlwind romance Oscar-winner Nicholas Cage, 40, married Alice Kim, 19, in Northern California on July 30 his spokesperson confirmed to Star. "It was a very private ceremony," the rep said in short statement.

Rumors that Cage would tie the knot for the third time to Kim, a former waitress that he met at an L.A. nightclub, have been running rampant ever since she started wearing a stunning diamond-and-emerald sparkler in May.

Cage, who has a son Weston, 13, from a previous relationship, has a shaky track record when it comes to marriage. He was married to actress Patricia Arquette, 36, for five years before divorcing in 2000. Then two years later he married his idol Elvis Presley's only daughter, Lisa-Marie Presley, 36, in Hawaii only to file for divorce three months later

"Which leads to the question, if Clark made his costume out of the swaddling clothes in his space capsule, and it was indestructible, how did he cut and stitch it?"

I hate to say it, but I know the answer to this one.

In the novel "Superman: Last Son of Krypton" (Elliot S. Maggin, 1977-1978).*

He references that Martha Kent drew the pattern, and Clark cut the cloth with his heat vision. I would assume for the thread, Martha unraveld a portion of one blanket.

* It's actually a well written and entertaining novel. i still have a somewhat battered copy of it and the follow up "Superman: Miracle Moday".

Bill, Tom, Pat, Jim, and Dave. Dare to be dull!

Is that really William, Thomas, Patrick/Patricia, James, and David? :)

It drove my father nuts that his kids ended up not calling themselves the "original" name, but a shortened version of it. We have a Joseph (Joe), a John (Jack), a Margaret (Peggy), etc., etc., etc....

When Pete Ross learns of Clark's ability in "Smallville" he asks if Clark ever uses his X-ray vision to scope out Lana.

Clark replies that he doesn't do that, then sheepishly says "well maybe once".

I loved Lee Atwater. Almost cried when he died. I think the elder President Bush just might have won again if Lee had lived.

Perhaps my sister should consider "Ann Coulter (Last Name)" if she has a daughter. ;>

I was surprised Brittany Spears (like anyone should care anyway) named her child Preston Michael. How unusual for a celeb to give a baby a normal name.

He should have named him Underdog. At least then the silly name would speak for it's self.
