Palin supports McCain '100 percent' [Palin pushes back at TMZ 'disprespect' meme]
Politico ^ | Dec. 16, 2009 | Mike Allen

Posted on 12/16/2009 4:38:39 PM PST by Al B.

Declaring that she “was honored and proud to run with him,” former Alaska governor Sarah Palin pushed back hard Wednesday against a report that she had disrespected Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) by blacking out his name on a sun visor she wore on vacation.

The website TMZ accused Palin of “a frontal attack on Sen. John McCain” during a Hawaii vacation this week: “Sarah chose to wear a visor from her campaign -- a visor that was emblazoned with the former presidential candidate's name ... that is, until Palin redacted McCain's name with a black marker.”

But Palin said in a statement to POLITICO that she was just trying to “be incognito” -- to go unrecognized and shield her children and husband, Todd, from paparazzi.

The hotel where she was staying had to chase away five photographers, a friend said.

Palin said in the statement to POLITICO: “I am so sorry if people took this silly incident the wrong way. I adore John McCain, support him 100 percent and will do everything I can to support his reelection. As everyone knows, I was honored and proud to run with him. And Todd and I were with him in D.C. just a week ago. So much for trying to be incognito."

The Palins were taking a break from a three-and-a-half-week book tour for her million-copy-selling memoir, “Going Rogue: An American Life.” Palin has signed more than 59,000 books -- an average of 1,750 per stop -- and has traveled more than 19,000 miles by plane and bus. She has spent 115 hours -- or 4.8 days -- signing books in 33 cities in 25 states. Her stops have included five military bases.

“everything I can”

That's what I was thinking, on and on she'll just decide, 'well, I can't do anything for the clown'.

All's well that ends well.

..I have no proof, but I find it impossible to believe that McCain was unaware of what his staffers were trying to do to her. His body language on the campaign trail dripped jealousy.

She is to be commended for publicly expressing gratitude, but supporting his candidacy when he is a large part of the problem is dangerous for her future.

IMHO I think she should get as far away from him as possible...

Sorry, I don't buy it. She said she would campaign on behalf of conservatives, regardless of political party. I don't see her campaigning for McCain knowing that the base hates his guts. She would be a hypocrite to campaign for McCain but not for Mark Kirk of IL (who McCain endorsed) and other RINOs up for re-election and targeted by the Tea Partiers. Nah, she'll use her PAC to donate to his campaign and make the obligatory statement thanking McCain, and stay out of the race, and that will be that.

Yeah, thank you!
She is gonna give him money for his campaign obviously. She has turned the other cheek many times and I find it absolutely amazing. She has to deal with so much crap yet she can still compliment McCain. If you look closely at the hat, you see that she crossed out BOTH names, not just McCain. WOW must be a slow news day that the media has to follow her on her VACATION with her family to Hawaii. They just won’t leave her alone, not even on the holidays. I don’t see them following Romney or Huckabee around

Oh, come on and get with the program. Don't you know that today ... three full years before the next presidential election and when not a soul has declared a candidacy, you are supposed to have made your choice for the GOP candidate? Sheesh, what's wrong with you?

Yes, that was extreme sarcasm. I find the whole thing rather amusing ... you are not allowed to say anything less than positively glowing about Palin unless you are willing to start comparing the qualities of your chosen candidate against those of Palin. These folks are going to end up doing Palin a whole lot more harm than they are good, if they think that they are scoring points for her in the minds of the undecided. It's going to be a long couple of years before the primaries.

this woman is a smart cookie

she picks her battles carefully

she hit Dissaskozza in NY, Obama on the Weather Channel, etc

she is the #1 political draw in the USA right now...she has eclipsed McCain and they both know it....McCain has the sense to give her public support and she has the sense to reciprocate.

she will need the McCaniacs and a lot of other fringe elements in 2012...she is moving carefully...making appearances, collecting money...

she will campaign where it matters for candidates she likes in 2010 and she will build a Nixonian (cf the work Nixon did after he lost the Governor election of California and was declared deat meat in the press...but was POTUS just 2 years later) base of delegates to take the Party in 2012

watch and enjoy, then vote.

I agree.

A) This (one incident) makes Gov. Palin look low-rent. Just buy something new, don't marker over what you have!

B) I don't want a repeat of 2004, when President Bush supported Snarlin' Arlen over good conservative Pat Toomey.

Gov. Palin is still leading the pack, but she has to be careful, as it is a long way to the primaries....

Sarah Palin is a woman of honor and understands the value of loyalty. She will stand by John McCain (who I despise personally) ‘til the end.”

Pretty much.
Personally, I have no time for Juan McCain whatsoever, and while loyalty to friends is a very good thing, I wouldn't back McCain for the US Senate, even if he were my best friend in private life.

This is such nonsense. Can't the lady have a nice vacation with her family without the press trying to manufacture some imaginary scandal?

And as for her support for McCain, she's loyal to him personally and feels that she owes him an enormous political debt, regardless of how badly his crummy campaign staff treated her.

So, no I'm not at all surprised that she's going to back him, and we're certainly not going to hold it against her because of it.

That would have been a much, much better idea. Woulda saved all this media created palaver. I mean she knew the paparazzi were camped out all over the joint, looking for the slightest out of whack thing to create a controversy.

More like “I cant do everything to pull his stones out of the fire”

She does owe him a bit of public support but not to be the only support he has in the party. I see her not endorsing anyone in the Arizona race which will be nothing more than reinforcing her independent stripe.

Naaaah.
What exactly is she supposed to have been “low renting” out? The visor is her property isn't it?
There is a lot to be said for making over old clothes. It shows thrift and an aversion to waste.
However, given that an army of media vultures like TMZ had laid siege to the whole hotel, it probably wasn't a very good idea in this case.

Yeah I know, seriously I don’t know why this is a shock to anyone. WOW so she supports McCain..DUH, of course she does. Do I support McCain, NO, but I understand why she feels loyal to him. She will never say one bad thing about him, never and I knew she would support him for re-election. Of course she would, but I doubt she will campaign for him, she will endorse him and give him money. I really dont understand why this comes as a surprise. She praises him in her book, she hasn’t said anything negative about him, why wouldn’t she support him for re-election. She is loyal, some might say she is loyal to a fault, but she will always remain loyal, no matter what
