Anyone else spending Christmas Eve alone?
The bizarro world of brother skooz | 12/24/2014 | Skooz

Hello all. Sitting here at home and wondering if anyone else out there is spending this evening alone.

On this night of all nights when families gather and friends share gifts and time, some of us are, for various reasons, spending Christmas Eve solo.

Not necessarily a bad thing - alone doesn't always mean lonely. But, it does mean alone.

Check in if that includes any of you, my fellow Freepers.

Ah the pets make everything better, don’t they?

Thank you so much, but I don’t mind.

About to have some outrageously caloric homemade hot chocolate. I’ll post the recipe in a minute.

All alone but not lonely.
Wife's in a nursing home and the kids...who knows; although I'm expecting to spend the day with them tomorrow.

I value my solitude and since as a practice I don't observe Christmas the whole thing means less than nothing to me. Nonetheless, I feel a tremendous sense of happiness tonight.

will be heading out to midnight Mass in a little while. It's a traditional Latin Mass

That's nice. Envy you. None here for another two weeks. If we had a Latin Mass tonight or tomorrow I wouldn't be so grumpy this evening. Wrong attitude, I know. Have a Merry Christmas! P.S. We have luminaries here, too.

Last night of Chanukah so my boyfriend is with his girls and his family. I’m sitting here watching “It’s a Wonderful Life” and wrapping Christmas gifts. I’ll go to 9 PM mass up in Lexington then spend tomorrow with my family at my sister’s place on the Kansas side.

Long day at work getting things wrapped up for the long weekend, family stuff tomorrow and Friday, so very happy tonight to relax with the dog and cats, have a breather, watch “Cook’s Country,” and down some stout eggnog. Best kind of “alone” for me. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all my FRiends!

Sort of ... just me and Miss Kitty, the Tuxedo bandito. Busy making one of my favorite ice creams, Butter Pecan. Will start cooking for me, myself, and I tomorrow early enough to have a Christmas dinner before visiting my cousin in the Nursing Home and playing on a CD player the passage from Luke read by Andrew Scorby.

I’m all by myself. I did Christmas last Saturday with the family 200 miles away. But I’m enjoying my time alone. Steak and movies tomorrow. So best wishes from a Fellow Freeper and may you all be Blessed. Merry Christmas.

:) RC

Merry Christmas to all.

I went to a wonderful party last night with fabulous food and great booze, will spend Christmas with a good friend tomorrow afternoon. My kids came for an early Christmas last weekend, so I’m just about all Christmassed out.

I’m going to finish a sweet potato casserole for tomorrow and go to bed early tonight. If I had a chimney, Santa might come down…..

And to all, a Good Night:)

Count me in. Just talked to my son on the phone and am expecting a call from my daughter. I’m listening to country Christmas music on Sirius as I type this.

Skooz, am thinking of a dear friend that went on to Heaven within nearing two days. Known the family for forty years .... All is well though and God has seen fit to will see a full household tomorrow. May all be well with you .... though am sad for my friend’s family.

I'm the only human in the place tonight, but luckily there is an elderly but dear-to-me quadruped in the next room "guarding" the place. (Be they dogs, cats, birds… good critter companions are worth their weight in gold.)

Christmas has become increasingly low-key for us over the past dozen years, and that's neither good nor bad… it's just the way the cards have been dealt and played. Jesus Christ is with us just like he has been all along, and even when I lose focus and get down, His presence is what really matters this and every other night.

Home with the cat. I'm playing with one of my 2 new toys — a Samsung tablet. Also bought myself a “Smart TV.” If all goes well, I'll be ditching cable next year. Just have to learn all this newfangled technology.

Tomorrow it's dinner with brother and family. I'll eat too much, laugh too much, carry on too much. But I'll also be grateful to the Lord for giving me one more year on this earth. Not bad considering almost 7 years ago, it looked like I might not be celebrating another Christmas. Or anything else for that matter.
