TRUMP EMAIL TOUTS SCHLAFLY'S WND ENDORSEMENT
WND ^ | 12/22/2015

Conservative icon said he's 'the only one who will fight'

Donald Trump sent out an email to his supporters Tuesday night with a link to WND's scoop in which conservative icon Phyllis Schlafly praised the Republican presidential frontrunner as "the last hope for America."

In the email from his campaign, Trump wrote: "I wanted to share the article below written by highly respected conservative, Phyllis Schlafly. Phyllis' support is a testament to my message to Make America Great Again and your enthusiasm to ensure our country is better than it has ever been before.

"Phyllis stated that I am 'the only one who will fight' and it's true. I will fight harder than anyone. This country has been so great to me and I want to do something really special in return. We are going to rebuild the American Dream and make it bigger and better and stronger than ever before for each and every one of you."

So how many people click on the links in a Trump email?

A few hours after it was sent, the original news story was receiving more than 3,000 clicks per hour from the campaign announcement.

In Schlafly's interview, first published Sunday night, she harshly criticized the Republican Congress for passing the $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill last week.

"I think the people are going to react by electing Donald Trump," she offered. "It sounds like Donald Trump is the only one who has any fight in him. He will fight for the issues that we really care about and are very hot at the present time, such as the immigration issue. I don't see anyone else who's eager to fight."

Was so glad to see Trump referencing Schlafly’s article. She’s 100% spot on, btw :)

Yep. I'm confident the Schlafly comments gained the attention of a whole lot of folks.

Is that what we need internationally, against ISIS, electorally, in the North where the evangelical vote is not supreme, or militarily and economically, structurally? We need a lawyer with good resume for arguments in the Supreme Court and senate?

The house is on fire and this doesn’t sound like what we really need.

Maybe Schlafly didn’t want to endorse a Canadian.

I bet I’ve posed that question a dozen times. I never get a reply that answers it.

(Mostly, I get no response at all.) LOL!

I’m just going to say it— I am nervous about Cruz on illegal immigration, and also on foreign workers with high skills.

Maybe he is a lawyer and it is hard for him to spell it out like TRUMP does, but I’m sorry, when you’re on LIVE TV on CSpan, being seen and heard, it does count.

Mopping it all up afterward by trying to sell instead your motivations and interpretations for saying it, has to be about the finest gig for excuse making out there. I mean, geeeeeez.

If I’m wrong, somebody ‘splain it to me.

“Outside of something criminal occurring, I strongly expect Trump will be the next president.” Trump’s worst enemy is himself, and Trump could, still, make mistakes to the point where his poll numbers and his actual support do go down, big time. So far, so good for Trump. It ain’t over, til it’s over, and it’s, still, the ‘16 primary season. Strange things do happen in the world of politics.

Trump’s worst enemy is himself

Not sure where that came from. It sounds like an MSM manufactured myth. I haven't seen anything which would support that.

Cruz voted for TPA, a green light for Obama, and loves dumb trade as proven by his editorials.

He only reversed himself because he saw the political tea leaves. Too late. TPA makes it impossible to block TPP.

Would like some feedback on this post some time. Kindly think about it before hammering it.

Lake I agree with most everything you said, however, I do not reach the same conclusion. What Donald has done for all of us that no one else can do is one thing - whether he's the right man for the Oval is not quite the same thing - whether he's the man who can beat Hillary is not the same thing. And remember, this is still a guy with a lot of big government reflexes in him. In fact, on all the big issues, his solutions seem to be more government, at least for a time. I find that very dangerous.

Without Trump, Cruz would be fighting off the GOPe all day, every day. Without Trump it's likely one of the GOPe candidates is the front runner.

There is no doubt that Trump has carried the fight to the media. No one -- not even Cruz -- has rallied to Trump's forays. With illegal immigration, the consensus was condemnation of Trump, and while Cruz signaled support, he didn't get into the fight. With the exception of the aftermath of San Bernardino, most other candidates have distanced themselves from Trump or been barely audible. Cruz and Carson, and sometimes Fiorina, have been in the barely audible camp.

If Trump had not been in this race, Cruz would have been insignificant by now. He didn't have the firepower to withstand the establishment onslaughts and the media onslaughts that would have come his way.

Cruz remains relevant in this race purely because Trump has paved the way for him. That does not detract from his intelligence, policies, etc. In one sense, it means he read the terrain correctly and responded accordingly.

But he is the BENEFICIARY of Trump and not the instigator of or companion warrior with Donald Trump.

If I were Trump, I would pick Cruz as running mate, not because he'll deliver Texas -- because Texas will go Republican no matter who the candidate -- but because he is now the heir of the social conservative/Christian conservative base. Carson would split off some blacks, and Fiorina would split off some women, but Cruz is now the focal point for Christian Conservatives.

You are presenting facts not in evidence....just a theory....that can be picked apart, even as it has a smidgeon of validity to it.

I’m starting to agree with you.

I have always supported Sarah Palin above any other candidate, I would even have supported her as a presidential candidate over Trump. Big time.

I supported her as Trump’s VP running mate. But I am starting to think maybe Cruz is a good choice.

Maybe. It’s still very early, but I’m starting to think Cruz might be a good choice.

I think his thinking is quite rational. Cruz campaign is like the draft space behind a trump 18 wheeler that just sucks him along.

Cruz was widely disliked and disparaged almost daily before the campaign began. that disparagement stain of too right wing has not worn off. That view was held by many conservatives unwilling to place a bet on the extreme.

not true...in the most forward looking polls...those where the most informed and concerned voters are - the right wing internet sites....Cruz was always loved. Always. It was a fait accompli that as others became similarly informed, that Cruz would rise.

Now those audiences always liked Trump too, and it was a fait accompli that Trump would remain strong as well.

NOW: as to the “drafting “effect - which I understand - must be countered by the “same space” effect - and they clearly are splitting a lot of the same space. Neither of you mention that, which is one of the major dynamics of the entire Trump phenonemon.

Folks, this stuff should not be tried at home...it’s not as easy as you think.

nope, will not......even if I’m forced to vote for him one day.

I don’t think a good number of his prescriptions will do that.....in fact, I know some are counter productive. He’s advocated using the force of government to punish businesses back home. A great country doesn’t have to do that. Would he just one time...JUST ONE FRIGGIN TIME....talk about limited government and maximum freedom as a way to ENTICE companies and profits back home?????

Answer: NO. That’s not who he is.

We can only watch the campaign unfold for the next 6 weeks, but my sense is that neither Trump nor Cruz will fade before Iowa and New Hampshire.

CNN says this morning that it’s Trump 39 and Cruz 18. That says that the Quinnipiac poll was on the low side of the domain of polls. I think it said 28/24. Averaging those gives 33.5 Trump and 21 Cruz. Even the Real Clear Politics average yesterday had a +15 for Trump.

Iowa being a caucus makes it a different creature. But Trump IS an organization. He knows to organize in Iowa. We’re also told that Cruz has spent his money well on organizing in Iowa, and he is the heir of Iowa’s evangelicals. I expect a near tie score in Iowa, and a win for Trump in NH. Once the race goes south with those facts on the table, it gets hard to predict. Cruz could inspire huge Christian conservative support, but the numbers now have Trump leading in those states by comfortable margins.

The Empire must strike and strike soon. They tried with their stupid ‘schlonged’ meme yesterday, but I think that was easily brushed aside.

The Establishment needs a final offensive, and I think the only way they’ll get it is to have all the current establishment numbers go to one candidate. Just being honest, and not because I’m anti-Bush, I just don’t think Jeb has it. He’s just not dynamic. It has to be Rubio. They need all the others to drop out before NH to leave Rubio an open path, or they’re just going to get buried.

Trump will own New York and New Jersey.

If I were Trump, I would pick Cruz as running mate,....

I have dismissed such as wishful and simple minded thinking; but, I am coming to think about it as an increasingly possible scenario. Of course, it hinges on what Cruz sees as his path forward in 2016 and beyond.

To this point, Trump has broken new ground. His next book should be "The Art of the Narrative." He's got the MSM devoting whole news cycles to his Tweets and one liners. Unprecedented, it is.

Being unprecedented, it's also uncharted. No one can know if it is sustainable. We do not know what we don't know.

I suspect the "conventional wisdom" about picking a VP might be passe' as well. The fact that no bridges have been burned, give some credence in my mind to such a possibility.

And while the idea of Cruz as AG or CJ of SCOTUS is very attractive, the seat "one heartbeat away" is becoming more intriguing.
