What has happened to Free Republic? [What difference at this point can it possibly make?]

Posted on 03/17/2016 3:13:11 PM PDT by katwoman5779

Since Obuma was elected to POTUS, I have been coming to Free Republic to get news, opinions and a few laughs. Most of the serious posts were bemoaning the out of control government and what could be done about it. "Oh Whoa is Me!". Then along comes a constitutional conservative. For the first time since Ronald Reagan, we have a constitutional candidate running for the GOP nomination. This man was elected by conservatives to go to Washington and stand up to the elites that no longer listen to the American people. He didn't go to Washington and "fall in" with the crowd. He went there and stood up to them just like he said it would - calling a spade a spade. I'm sorry, but I don't understand how otherwise intelligent people can fall for the likes of Donald Trump. This man was donating to the same people we were fighting to throw out of office the last eight years. Suddenly he is a conservative after years of joining with the liberals to promote big fat bloated government. He is not an outsider. He has been greasing the palms of the slime bags in Washington for 30 years. He can't even define what conservatism is. Wake up America. You are no better than the sycophants that suck up to Obuma. You can't see that Trump is just pushing your buttons with his rhetoric - just like Obuma pushed his sycophants buttons. The hate I see on Free Republic for Ted Cruz, Mark Levin and all the other great conservative leaders remind me of liberal websites. It is disgusting.

You need to look at all that Cruz has stopped from passing in Washington before he speak against him as you’re doing.....our founders put more significance on what was prevented then passing......not that many here would even begin to understand that or the dynamics of Legislation and the lot.

Levin seems a few fries short of a happy meal lately...

Perhaps his buds on K-Street have become frantically disturbed at the thought of being shown the door by President Trump?

Unlike The Great One, Trump knows America's Greatness is based on the health of middle class and the growth of small business entrepreneurs, NOT continuation of the Deep State through backroom kickbacks, a revolving door between regulators/legislatures and the private sector and holding other nations' well-being above our own ;-)

.....”Lifetime politicians and lawyers who have had no life outside politics are the worst people for Washington”.....

You might want to tell that to these guys and others who have served this great nation.

George Washington (1732-1799)
James Madison (1751-1836)
Thomas Jefferson (1743-1826)
John Adams (1735-1826)

Alexander Hamilton (1755-1804)
George Mason (1725-1792)

I’ve been reading about all of the EVIL ‘side effects’ of a Trump POTUS win. Apparently it is one of the signs of the apocalypse.

‘And when the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature saying, “Come.” I looked, and behold, a pale horse; and he who sat on it had the name Trump; and Hell was following with him.’

True story, this… (Yes this is sarcasm...)

Here, let Senator Sessions help you understand why people are done with the Cruz, the GOPe, et al. & turning to Trump:

....”I’ll give trump a try”....

Then don’t be surprised when he goes Liberal once he’s in....

He creates half truths to create his own version of truth to feed to the masses.......just like when he said McConnell and Ryan called him, what he didn’t say was they had called all three of the candidates remaining, which they did and standard operating procedures at that juncture. But Trump presented this as if he was attracting the Gop and everyone fell for it...as usual.

Trump is credible on these things because he came out with his proposals when it was politically unpopular and dangerous to do so. Ted echoed with similar policies only after Trump had cleared the way. In my view, only one of those men showed real courage and leadership when it mattered

It was politically unpopular to oppose ethanol subsidies in Iowa of all places. Cruz did, while Trump did not.

"He’s not my president. I didn’t vote for the bum."

Did you participate in the 2008 & 2012 elections?

If so, you consented to be governed by the winner, even if your candidate lost...

I suggest next time before you assume that you possess enough political gravitas to swing it about over your head, that perhaps you step up your education, and check the contents of the bag ;-)

With that said, I also suggest you seriously ponder the ramifications of losing the 2016 election to Hitlery, and reconsider supporting the ONLY rational candidate capable of dispatching the evil witch to the dustbins of history.

Wow. What a pantload.

You seem too emotionally attached to Cruz to see the buckets of slime he dumps on Trump. Including the night violent communists attacked us. After that Cruz breezily mentioned the protesters and in his next breath he dumped an entire file of smears on Trump.

Wow. I actually listened to what Cruz said without the filter of assuming sacrilege against your candidate.

He said that the responsibility for the actions of the protesters lay strictly with the protesters.

Now, sans cusswords, fist shaking and other drama, I really don't know how that could be more clear.

Then he described a fundamental truth: That the tone of a campaign is affected by the the leader's (the candidate's) rhetoric and demeanor.

He did not say "Trump" while he described that, because it applies, no matter who the person is. I guess that shoe fit, though, because the rampant distortions of what he DID say were posted on every blog and here as well, often multiple times through the day.

Repeating a distortion of fact (I'm being kind, a lie) does not make it any more true than the one about Anthropogenic Climate Change.

It is sad that the lies persist, but Cruz did not blame the protests on Trump, nor did Cruz express any solidarity with or support for the protesters.

Taxes and the IRS: (BTW, Cruz is for a flat tax and eliminating the IRS).

Saying something irregular MAY be in someone's taxes is a situation that unfortunately applies to us all. Anyone who has a notion as to the convolutions inherent in the tax code knows that it is difficult to even get two of the IRS people to agree on the interpretation of the law. The more forms you have ti file, the more complex the return.

So yeah, something may be in Donald's tax papers, or yours, or mine, or anyone's, because the law is so screwy and convoluted.

You are free to believe any distortions of reality you glean from misleading headlines you want, but that doesn't change the facts.

There was a time around this site when we read media accounts with a critical eye, now not so much, apparently, especially when they agree with individual prejudices.

If Dan Rather came forth with a set of 'fake but accurate' memos today (instead of back when with 'W') about a candidate other than Trump, there are folks around here who would be quoting him like gospel and writing the network demanding they give him a raise.

Pity.

Thanks - good info. The issue is the interpretation that Canadian law would nullify US law for a child born of a US parent in Canada. US law states that the child is a US citizen, as long as (per law in effect at that time) the US parent had at least 10 years physical presence in the US prior to the birth, including at least 5 years after age 14. I read the 1947 Canadian law as not allowing Canadian citizens to deliberately acquire a second citizenship. The intent was not to deny US citizenship at birth to a child born to US parents if that birth happened to occur in Canada.

I do agree though that there are some fuzzy edges here ...

That’s pretty weak sauce, considering that opposition to ethanol subsidies was only politically courageous in exactly ONE state.

Meanwhile, Trump staked out courageous positions on illegal immigration, muslim refugees, trade, taxes, political correctness, the VA, terrorism, black unemployment, the media, Hillary’s hypocritical ‘war on women’, and crony capitalism.

Along the way, he skewered Jeb Bush, Lindsey Graham, Megyn Kelly, assorted leftist asshats, also-ran opponents, the Obama regime, Univision and the pro-illegals crowd, and various GOP-e pundits.

Ted did none of that - preferring to stay what he thought was the safe course, spewing most of his vitriol at Trump, the one guy who’s fearlessly taking it to our true enemies.

Hell, when given a golden opportunity to stand up to the thugs on the left, Ted chose to side with BLM, the OWSers, and La Raza, against Trump.

Ted’s a fraud, and it’s time you checked your blind support for him. His reputation as a ‘consistent conservative’ doesn’t hold an ounce of water.

Hannity Blasts FreeRepublic (maybe he is right)
Radio | Sean Hannity
Posted on 8/2/2002, 4:40:49 PM by jbstrick

Hannity just stated on his radio show that he has just about had enough of the conservative cannibals on this board. To many threads end up being ledd about news and information and more about attacking fellow conservatives.

He said if he wants to get attacked he will go to a Liberal board.

I have a tendency to agree...

Well, its real simple. You have to have a country before you can have a conservative country. Right now, there is no country. Only the cost of transportation prevents you from living in a migrant camp of proportions you cannot imagine.

So, when we populists get a country back for you to quibble about, you can get the magnifying glass out and put it on the Constitution.

In the meantime, STFU and vote for Trump.
