I just voted in SW Virginia. Rural area, goes usually about 58-42 for the good guys (or at least the less-evil guys). More cars than usual for off year elections but no real wait inside. This was about noon. I'd guess that it was half of 2016 (Trump), and about equal to when Cuccinelli lost a very close race without any establishment help in 2013 to McAuliffe. Although the Dems have an edge in VA now, I still think it is very winnable for Republicans. My hope is that we pull out a win in a close election. For those conservatives sitting out because Gillespie is kind of gutless, I know you won't listen but it still needs to be said. You are not helping.

Wow, NOT good. Virginia was once a state my husband and I were thinking of moving to (from here in The People's Republik of Connecticut). I wouldn't even consider living there now. Sad, because I've always loved VA.

If Trump can deliver on promises by 2020, it’s a state that’s in play. It has an independent streak to it and results could kick it back to the light . However, yeah, it has been deeply Californicated.
Same thing applies to Nevada ... Trump delivers on promises, Nevada swings to the R column.
One final note, Trump delivers, PA, WI, and MI stay in the R column.
Now do you see why the Republican party hates Trump? Trump expects results ... he gets results, they maintain/grow power :-). Many of the Rs want to spend like Democrats, but can’t since their voters expect much more from them. Therefore, they want to make sure Trump doesn’t deliver on anything. It is SO FRIGGING FRUSTRATING.
The massive influx of Asian workers (mostly from the Philippines) is matching the influx here in Las Vegas from Mexico...all hard leftists...Nevada will be solid blue within a few years.

Not the same state as it was in 81 when we moved here. Once my wife retires in 2 years we are heading back over the mountains to Elkins West Virginia. I never thought that WV would turn conservative, but it has and back we go. I have had enough of what what Virginia (we are in Albemarle CO) has turned into.
Northern Virginia IS the swamp. The great lakes states are Turing more and more ref however.

We have imported 30 MILLION LEGAL immigrants based on chain migration. The terrorist from Uzbekistan brought in 23 other Uzbeks and he never even became a US citizen.
These 30 MILLION are vast majority low skills and low wealth immigrants.

VA is a beautiful state and generally well-run. I lived there for 36 years. The coming changes will destroy the state the same way CA was destroyed.
