This war seems to be about "MONEY".
Oil money
Big Business money
Military Arms Makers money

This war seems to be about protecting innocent lives.
You speak as though neither your life nor the lives of your loved ones are in danger.
Either you're stupid or in a cave.
To: icantbleaveit
I have a solution.
When the Iraqis show up, take them into custody and ship them off to the POW camp for the duration.
Same with any reps who show from any other terrorist-supporting regimes like Iran, Syria, et al.
It's crazy to do anything else.

Your mind has been infected by the left's propaganda...find a good deprogrammer.
To: Principled
So there Principled, you agree with the Iraq Military purchasers in that they have the right to buy the best arms to kill you and your children?
How much stock do you have in the arms makers?
To: icantbleaveit
Let's hope your stay here at FreeRepublic helps you see the error of your thinking.

So you are another one who wants Iraq to have the best weapons to fight our troops.
You are in the same class as Klinton.
To: icantbleaveit
Where did you read anything like that?
Oh, yeah... I forgot you're too dumb to use fact.
To: icantbleaveit
I strongly disagree with you that this war is all about making money for the oil and arms industries, but I agree with you that it is absolutely ludicrous that the UK is allowing Iraq to buy sophisticated military equipment at this time.

Which part of the story indicates that the British Government is allowing arms sales to Iraq?

icantbleaveit signed up 2002-08-01.Let us hope that your stay is brief if you think this war is about money.
If we wanted Iraq's oil then we would simply drop the sanctions and buy it. Spending billions of dollars militarily to take billions of dollars worth of oil is stupid. I would not recommend that you spend a million dollars to hire someone to break into my house as I will you all of my stuff for far less.
False economy and lack of logic.
Stay safe; stay armed.

I remember there were British firms that sold weapons to some of the Far East trouble spots during WW2 that were used against British troops.
Opportunists.
To: icantbleaveit
Ok, I guess your just stupid, it doesn't matter what class of weapon the Iraqi military have. They are not capable or WILLING to use them. You may shortly see what the BEST trained and TOTALLY motivated troops on the face of the earth can accomplish in a VERY short period. I can only hope we have accomondations for all those surrendering Republican Guards. From the proud Uncle of a VERY fine young Marine.

Then why is Tony Blair(our primary ally) allowing Iraq arms buyers to do this?
To: icantbleaveit
Oil money Big Business money Military Arms Makers money Actually, it has absolutely nothing to do with anything on your list. Where the heck did you get a dumb bass idea like that?
If you'd pay attention to what's happening in the world: Iraq has supported and trained Al Quata, as well as thwarted a peace deal it agreed to when it lost the gulf war.
If Iraq was not a threat, as the "left-over peace-nicks from the '60's" seem to claim, why would they even be concerned about Iraq buying weapons? After all, they claim he's a man of peace, just like Muslim Al Quata is a religon of peace, right?
Stupid liberals. Nothing in their heads but dust. *sigh*

I'd like to make three points here:
1. The "bazaar" is in Jordan, and the UK therefore has no control over who shows up;
2. British arms makers and a govt. minister showing up does not equate to selling Britis weapons to Iraq;
3. Any upcoming military action is about terrorism - or have you forgotten?

When the Iraqis show up, take them into custody and ship them off to the POW camp for the duration. Nope. They're the conduit to the Iraqui military, and we're no doubt using them to get the word out. Behind the scenes military commanders are being warned to desert or lay down their arms when the war starts, or face immediate destruction or a post-war trial. Many if not most of them will, making our job much easier.
To: icantbleaveit
This war seems to be about money? Wipe your glasses. The war is about terrorism, death, mass mureder, and a soulless dictator who hasn't hesitated and will not hesitate in the future to use whatever weapons he has at his disposal whenever he thinks he can do so without penalty to himself.
Unfortunately, opportunists always come out of the woodwork-- and not just when there's war.
