They wish and only see his supposed "hypocrisy". The hypocrisy is on the Libertarian side, though, for Rush admitted today he is human, with human frailties, and that we try everyday of our lives to work our best to overcome those frailites.

You hero-worshipping Rush-bots are living in Bizarro World.

Rush has long condemned drug users, calling them "maggot-infested" and saying they should be sent to prison for violating the law.

For at least six years of that time Rush has been eating powerful narcotics, often illegally obtained, like they were Skittles.

That is the grossest hypocrisy, but you are so blinded by Rush-love you just can't see it.

Why hasn't Rush had the same compassion for drug addicts that he now wishes for himself?

I think you replied to the wrong post, Qwinn.

I haven't commented on Bennett.
I think Bennett has the right to spend his money any damn way he pleases.

I'm also not a Catholic. I'm a Deist.

Hey, Dane:

Get a grip. There are such things as race and class. They do make some difference.

But I don't see why you think this has anything to do with "playing the race card" or "class warfare." Can you elaborate?

I'm not trying to make any political statements except that I think that we should see addiction for what it is, a really terrible disease.

That does has some implication for our laws. But I'm not sure what. I'm not for legalizing drugs. Why would I want to do that. I think they are poison.

But I do think whatever our policies turn out to be, should be driven by a deep and abiding sympathy for the addicted, as well as sensitivity to the social costs that prevelance of addiction brings.

You are reacting in too knee-jerk a fashion to a complicated issue. We could debate the policies if you wanted. But I get the sense you are more reaction than thought. But then I don't want to presume to know you on the basis of a few posts.

"He ended up taking large amounts of arthritis type drugs later in life which was not good either."

Yep. The arthritis medications either destroy your stomach or your renal system, and so I don't take those either. Pain is bad, but I NEED my kidneys, liver and stomach.

All addicts are spritually sick period. prescription or otherwise.

I guess you like Bill Clinton never heard of the adage,

"To error is human, to forgive is divine".

I have never heard Rush condemn drug users or say they should be sent to prison. Perhaps you have a source for this? A date and time he said it?

I've clean, sober and smoke free since then.

The smoke free is huge! Over the last 19 years I have watched almost as many die of cigarettes as relapse. It is a little false to say that because I only hear what happens to a small proportion of those that go out

Ah, maybe we could start a daily Rush Prayer Thread....like the one for our Awesome President?

That's a wonderful idea. If you do, please add me to the ping list. I rarely post to the prayer list for the president, but I always say a prayer for him when I get my ping. All those prayers have gotta help.

God be with you, Rush.

The Twelve Steps have a better probability than creativity and willpower.

Good post. It must have been extremely hard for him to admit this, but also to say he's coming back on the other side of this. You're right, he could easily leave the airwaves, but he's not.

I've known some junkies and alcoholics. Some have been able to stay off, for some it's a battle which they lose from time to time, some are dead. I can't imagine what it would be like to be in constant pain and then have to avoid painkillers - that will be the real test for Rush. This will not be easy, whether he's clean in 30 days or not.

I wish him luck.

"If he keeps his promise to return, we, his loyal audience, must return as well."

HEAR, HEAR...I'll be there when he comes back. He needs his listeners' support. When I read the legal...well, it was a legal statement on his site last week about the investigation, I knew at least part of the story was true and have been praying for him ever since.

Rush probably enjoyed and gain much profit from his habit. these pharms can really help you in the "suave think on your feet" department. I doubt he'll be able to do as good a job clean. sorry if you disagree but I doubt Edgar Allen Poe would have written as delightfully morbidly twisted tales if he wasn't seriously f'ed up. Does it mean ruining your life with drugs is OK? I don't know, maybe if your idea of success is leaving a big inheritance to your offspring or donating to your favorite charity because you can. could the beatles have done it without LSD? Doubtful. What a complicated subject.

Rush has no need for my "forgiveness". We all are spiritually sick. All of us. The percieved lack of Sex, Security (money etc.), and Society (prestige) lead us to act out of fear instead of God's love. I thak God I know where the strife in my life comes from.

But not at all surprising, is it? They are truly a vile, loathsome, repulsive sort of offscouring.

Its one thing to discuss issues, (and from my limited perusal of that site they don't) but all that is contained over there is unless, emotional and unfounded bashing, whining and complaining.

re: Rush

He got addicted to legal non-illict prescription pain killers due to a host of medical issues he suffered through. And Oxycontin(if thats what it was) IS very addictive...and expensive.

He admitted this within a reasonable time period from when it was first reported by the Enquirer.

He is putting himself into rehab.

He is human...and he did the right thing today. OK. IMHO:

Lets all get the "I told you so's" out of the way today so we can put our big-boy-pants on tomorrow and act like adults.

This has nothing to do with the WOD or the WOSD. A WOD wouldnt exist if the drugs that were being "warred" against weren't illegal.

/rant off

The comment that you received, re: starting a daily thread prayer for Rush (hoping it was sarcasm), was, imo, immature and rude.

Prayer threads, for those who ask for them....and for those who wish to participate, is a common practice on this forum. I hope that never changes.

Man, there are about 10 people on this forum that should be apologizing to me regarding their nasty comments that I didn't know WTF I was talking about. LOL! But that aint going to happen! Hehehe. They aint man enough

You are right. The attacks on those of us who questioned the great Rushbo were vicious. Usually, those type of people don't have the integrity to admit that they were wrong

Like you I felt that his not just outright denying the claim that there must be something to the story.

Of course, one didn't need to be a senior investigator to figure out by Rush's own statements that somethings was way wrong. All that talk about he couldn't say a word regarding this was all BS.

That being said, I hope he kicks his drug habit.....
