  • Joint strike fighter simulator is glimpse into future

Actually UAV's are unsuitable for air combat due to latency.

Any control facility close enough to the front is a target (a nice big central one), anything far enough to be safe is far enough so that the signal is going to be delayed by fractions of a second. A second round trip for the information means that the controller would see the world on a one second delay, and the UAV would simply not be able to react.

The best compromise is to maintain manned fighters to keep a man in the loop, but use UAV's as cheap platforms to ferry additional rounds and Bombs in as his "squires". The squires would also be able to leverage countermeasures against enemy defenses and could be programmed to self-intercept any fatal enemy shots.

This may be the rumblings of the rebirth of the Rzecspospolitan Commonwealth.

The Polish Commonwealth included Lithuania and Ukraine at one time and was the most formidable state in Europe, It is largely because of its efforts that Christianity still exists (See the Battle of Vienna and the lesser known yearly Jihads turned back in the Sietch)

  • He's celibate until marriage, and dates won't tolerate it

I'll weigh in as a celibate guy.

I'm peculiar in this regard in that I don't even date either, but then again I have many friends that I'm very close to and I wouldn't trade that for the best sex in the world.

I'll counter those of you who snidely fall back to the "Genetics" argument. Is it possible, just barely possible that a Man is more then the sum of his Genetics?

To be frank, I consider genetics to be the least important factor in what makes me... well "Me". More important are the principles and values that I have chosen to support and abide. I will do more to ensure the creation of human's like me by being devout in the practice of my belief's and dedicated in the pursuit of my ideals, then I ever could breeding.

It is easy to preach, and ineffective. Tis far more difficult to walk the path, but it inspires. I can say confidently that because of that, I have gotten the deep trust of women who were badly badly hurt by men in the past. In some small measure I have managed to help them, I doubt that an orgasm is as fulfilling as knowing that you've helped a good friend.

I'll cede the cranky comment though, there is a certain degree of crankiness that's unavoidable when one chooses to forgo life's greatest comfort (the intimate company of Woman).

Insofar as the comment that Celibate guys wear their choice as blatantly as a militant Homosexual. I find this depends on the company. With most of my friends the celibacy is a non-issue that is rarely mentioned. With some I do throw it out fairly often, this is usually when I'm around somone who is really sexually domineering and brings up his conquests as a matter of pride. It is far more emasculating to display any degree of moral fortitude to such people then it would be to bed more women.

True, its a little bit mean to take the wind out of a Hedonist's sails, but I think it does some good to confront the mercenary sexuality some people have. A look at this thread shows that some are almost deeply offended that a man wouldn't think with his dick, there is a lot of vitriol slung in that case. Hopefully after that one can look at the decisions they've made that would make them recoil at the thought of celibacy.

Oh well, do what you must, feel what you feel... I'm going to follow my path of being a sexual counter-revolutionary.

    This is excellent news.

Hasbro realized a little while ago that the children who grew up on Transformers are adults now.

They've done a good job of catering to them, if you have any doubts Go read Dreamworks new comic books. Incredible, and theyre selling quite well.

I just hope they gt Simon Fuhrman to write it.

Actually this wasn't uncommon in the 80's. There was a delibrate battle to preseent the children with subversive messages through their entertainment.

Smurfs was Communism, He-man was homosexuality, visionaries was drug abuse, GI-Joe was better but it pushed globalism.

The only real attempt to instill children with American values was found in the form of...

    http://www.dreamwaveprod.ca/!newsite/images/Coming_Soon/August/TFGIJoe_Holo.jpg

Extolling the value of personal liberty, children where greeted with moral lessons from a giant Red white and blue washingtonian archetype.

Transformers is the reason we have ANY conservatives who grew up in the 80's.

I was close friends with a few people from one of vivendi's studios.

They took the leading entertainment software company (Reknowned for there quality and great franchises) and fired most everyone with any talent and cancelled most of thier best franchises. The rest they're milking dry.

    Sad really.

Watch carefully... I think we may be priveleged enough to see a great European power return to the world stage.

I don't have any fundamental problem with an individual who wants to work for his family.

The problem is that Mexico is so wildly corrupt and inneffective, if they can find work in mexico they stll can't feed thier families.

I'm actually a big fan of invoking manifest destiny in this case. We can call it "Operation helping hand".

Fundamentally Mexico has the potential to be a very prosperous state, its the corruption which keeps it a third world country.

Not that uncommon, yo should read what iis considered the best comic ever, The Dark Knight returns Saga, it takes good old Captalistic batman and puts him in an 80's spoof world.

Of course its hard to bend Batman that Far, so he ends up being more libertarian.

    what the...

Something to conider is that NJ is a distinct state stuck in between the orbit of NYC and philly. A good percantage of the populace are "weekday" urbanites, and these people usually cause sdo much ruckus durng elections that no one really bothers to opposse them. When energized however the (full-time) suburban and rural folks can do really surprising things in the state.

Remember that NJ is the most densely populated patch of earth on the planet (yes, we beat out China AND india), with a strange semi-rural environment. We truly are a queer little state and can be shifted very wildly, however there is the NYC, philly axis which no one really tries to fight and generelly Jerseyites end up screwed by it.

You people are being really shortsighted in this.

This Pope HATES communism, it was his help which helped soldarity take off and helped us take down communist russia.

The Pope has often spoken of the evils of communism... tho I'm startng to think that he simply isnt strong enough to keep others in the vatican from getting away with this stuff.

You need to realiize that the Pope has done more to fight communism then anyone else on the planet, with the possible exception of Ronnie. If in his old age and extremely weakened state he falters in that fight, it is excusable.
