  • Taiwanese woman finds out she has testicles

So you men out there in FReeperland please tell me how do you have testicles and not notice it?

I'm not a man, but I imagine from her situation (raised as a woman, never menstruated, never noticed any male genitalia, was informed by a doctor that she has no uterus but does have testicles) that the testicles were undescended.

Her situation is consistent with Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome.

That animal in the mask is DMW. I would not be suprised if Israel takes him out before Shabat.

DMW? Sorry, but I don't know that abbreviation.

Schalit is skin and bones in that photo with Bibi. I hope Israel takes them all out....

20+ years ago I was working in a public library in the Chicago area. One particular woman (Hispanic, 40ish, shaven head) who came into the library occasionally was obviously not rational. I don't remember any details except the time she told us we had to allow her to make as much noise in the library as she wanted, because "my brother is a lawyer and my sister is a cosmetologist."

This was the person who convinced me demon possession was real. When I looked in her eyes, what was looking out at me wasn't human, but something feral, evil, and mocking.

I had a similar experience later with another library patron: same sense of a calculating, evil, non-human presence in the eyes.

    ===

She started to say in a very female voice, “He’s coming”. Then she “changed”. I don’t know how else to describe it. Her voice became that of a mans.... Her throat and face changed appearance.

The throat and face changing when her voice changed makes perfect sense, because it's the shape of the mouth and throat that create a particular voice. That's why impressionists, when mimicking a particular personality, sometimes take on some of the facial features of that person: the shape of the face is part of imitating the voice.

It makes sense that a demon would be able to control the shape of the mouth and throat to a greater extent than any human impressionist.

  • Are Mormons Christian?

Why do you think God creates non-Christians?

Well, first of all, I'd say that God doesn't create "non-Christians" -- he creates people, period, and endows them with free will. And some of those people choose not to believe in Him.

So your question becomes, Why does He bother to create the people He knows will choose not to believe in Him?

One reason is that even those non-believers have roles to play in the history of the world.

Another reason is that some of the non-believers' descendants will be believers. And God is not willing to cancel the lives of the descendants who will be believers simply because some of their ancestors will reject Him.

SZonian: Mormons were booted from FR for accusing Christians of being Nazis, accusing Christians of being complicit in murder, lying to the mods, threatening Christians in FReepmails, stalking Christians in FReepmail, etc.

LeGrand: I was there. I don't remember Mormons accusing Christians of being Nazi's or accusing Christians of being complicit in murder or lying to the Mods. I can't know about FReepmails, but I doubt it is true.

The guy is 97, leave him to his Emperor Norton ways.

Emperor Norton wasn't begging while pretending to be penniless (false pretenses). From what I've read, he was a penniless man with genuine delusions that he still had money. Those who felt sorry for him saw to it that he was supported financially.

    Very different situation.

  • Olive Garden: American flag display would disrupt dining experience

    Tea Party Hobbit to RushIsMyTeddyBear
I agree it was odd they let a group meet in the public dining room in the first place.

The no-flag thing might be a corporate policy. A flag stand could be a tripping hazard. I know (non-restaurant) situations where security guards have seized flagpoles because they could be used as weapons or fall over and hurt someone. Corporate headquarters has lawyers that write policies to lessen the likelihood of lawsuits.

If you allow one, you need to allow them all -- or face a discrimination lawsuit. That means allowing the sinister "flag" brought in by the known gangbanger, the two-poled homemade birthday banner that keeps falling over, and the odd contraption carried by the incoherent, smelly guy. Easier just to ban them all.

In a former life, I managed a public library with no meeting room; we held programs in the public area. For a group to use our (free) public space, they had to sign a sheet saying they understood what they weren't allowed to do. Olive Garden should have a policy like that -- but then, this wasn't a meeting room situation. And probably people make group reservations all the time and never mention the speeches and other behavior that will inconvenience nearby diners.

Hosted a neighborhood meeting once in that corner of the library ... maybe fifteen years ago? ... people were upset about ancient, dangerous sidewalks ... speaker was some community organizer from ACORN ... unfriendly black guy.

Don't remember when it was ... BHO was probably in the Illinois Senate by that time ... or maybe not.

  • Presbyterian Church USA to ordain 1st gay

    Tea Party Hobbit to JustaDumbBlonde

This is one denomination, the Presbyterian Church in the U.S.A. I believe it has the most members of the Presbyterian denominations.

Other Presbyterian denominations in this area include the Presbyterian Church in America, the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, and the Orthodox Presbyterian Church.

We have a large, old PCUSA church in the county, as well as two newer, smaller ones. I hear the larger church’s sermons on the radio occasionally; they are conservative and have been fighting the gay agenda for many years. The current ministers are wonderful. They feel led to remain in the denomination, trying to change minds from within.

PCUSA and its predecessors (there was some sort of merger two or three decades ago) have been “mainstream” since shortly after WWII. The National Council of Churches and all that garbage.

I grew up Presbyterian and would love to join the larger county church, but they are required to provide the denomination’s medical package to their employees ... and it includes abortion. So I don’t join and I don’t donate.

Wikipedia has a chart with many more denominations:

  • Fremont Girl Banned From Wearing Rosary At School

    Tea Party Hobbit to Morgana
So what if gangs are wearing the Rosary in blasphemy towards God?

The issue is not that gangs are wearing the Rosary in blasphemy towards God.

All gangs have enemies and alliances: other gangs they fight or cooperate with. (Ultimately the issue is control of territory where they can sell drugs and make a profit; the larger the territory, the richer the gang.)

For the last several decades, nearly all U.S. gangs have been part of one of two alliances, the People and the Folks. Each gang has its own identifying symbols, also using symbols which identify whether the gang belongs to the People or the Folks.

These gang symbols, tattoos, graffiti, hand signs, etc., make it easier to tell friend from foe, and friendly space from dangerous space. But many a user of deaf sign language has been attacked or killed because a gang member didn't recognize the hand movements and assumed the deaf person was a member of a rival gang.

Some gang symbols are commonly used by non-gang members; these include dice, the Playboy bunny, crowns, certain professional sports teams' insignia (generally because the name is similar to the gang's name, or the colors are those used by the gang), 5-pointed stars, stars of David, and crosses.

Schools frequently prohibit the wearing of many of these items and symbols, in hopes of preventing violence. To a member of a rival gang, this girl who wears crosses is clearly a member of an enemy gang. And if they shoot her and it turns out she wasn't a member of a rival gang ... well, no loss, because after all, she was advertising for the enemy gang.

I post this ONLY for 1 reason....We MUST stop this sniping and fighting and realize we have far more in common that what separates us and we MUST work together to accomplish what we ALL want to do....and if you are saying, “I will never vote for so-and-so because I don’t believe in their religious doctrines,” means we will lose in 2012. Lets pull together.

That may be what you say now, but it's not what you posted when you began the thread.

Apparently many are willfully ignoring my point here.

No. Some are responding to your initial post. That simply means they're taking you literally (you didn't want us to take you literally?). And others are trying to save your soul ...

which, when all is said and done, is more important than winning any election.
