So, FR is now some sort of Palin promotional site? I’m not complaining but something is odd around here, lately. Besides, I thought Jim Rob was married.

You know, it’s ironic that Jim Rob and a lot of posters here have wrapped their arms around Palin, same as McCain in 2007. Hmmmmmmm, I wonder how it’s going to work out this time?

There’s no doubt about it - especially since they are not interchangeable. Of course, too the main stream media everyone on this side looks the same.

Is this a site level endorsement of one non-candidate or simply coverage of a bus trip?

I’ll just jump in here - the newspaper sells you the paper and allows you to occasionally write a letter that may or may not be published - in addition to taking advertisements to financially support the newspaper - JimRob appears to secure all financial support from members here - no advertisements - therefore one can take the position that the supporters own the site but don’t control the site. Hmmmmmm.....

FR sounds, just occasionally, like a cult - members fund it, only one person controls it - absolutely. Alternate opinions (posts) prohibited through banishment.

I’m not complaining, just sorting out what has been happening around here (in my mind) for the past year.

What’s missing in the health care discussion is the fact that those people, hopefully citizens, that don’t conduct their lives along the lines as noted by you are the problem group and the group that uses up all the programs and services - always needing and wanting more. The same group will not allow input into their lifestyle - they want to do whatever, but they want someone else to pay - mostly later in life when the s%it hits the fan, health wise.

When you get right down to the truth of the matter - Medicare is a great value for those that have lived a healthy lifestyle, especially if they can also afford a supplement plan and RX coverage. Now, those that have created health issues over time - Medicare is not so good and, frankly, not built to handle millions of really sick and constantly needy people. Of course, if those really sick and constantly needy people are also poor, it’s a double whammy to the system with Medicaid coming into play - a plan that no one is paying for during their working life.

I say, expand Medicare payroll payments to include a higher level of cost to those people that are overweight, smokers, drinkers, drug takers, etc. They will either shape up or pay extra for their entire working life.

Just think about how much money could be saved if all the programs like this somehow disappeared with no opportunity to re-create them. Follow the money - it’s money that makes politicians nuts.

So did I - not sure how that works but I don’t think that I’d like to take anything that would end up with me in that state for hours or perhaps days.

There is two ways of taking this - yes, a snub but why in hell would someone like Obama get this type of medal anyway?

So, it’s possible that the Royal Society are a bunch of lefty morons.

Hmmmm....when did America become a nation that has a government (at all levels) with the primary goal of taking from the rich and giving to the poor?

I suppose the rich should pay extra to protect their wealth, e.g. common defense of the nation, but rich people don't really use more government services because they are rich so why charge them more?

It seems to me that for 40 years or so our government has developed and implemented lots of programs for poor people but they are still poor and now their next generation is poor with a few exceptions. We really should stand back and look at what in hell we are doing with the trillions of dollars that poor people receive each decade, supposedly to elevate them to 'rich' so that they can pay the poor, also.

I wonder how much it costs all of us, on average, to support one poor person for life? Is it $1 million or more? Also, how much is needed, say double? Of course, the more than passingly strange thing is that we have no input as to how poor people make decisions that impact their lives, we simply pay for a lot of those decisions.

We seem doomed in America, except poor people.
